A Marquess for Christmas Kindle Edition
A gambler and pugilist, the Marquess of Kittrick loves his freedom and will protect it at any cost. When family pressure becomes unbearable, he storms off—only to find himself caught up in a daring rescue that nearly costs him his life and erases his memory.
Violet Laurens has faced war, bloodshed, and the loss of her husband, but she is unprepared for the intense longing stirred by the mysterious stranger who rescued her. She has no illusions that Kit will stay, but she cannot bear to lose the fragile love they share. Knowing that the past cannot stay buried forever, they cling to every moment together, never forgetting that each kiss might be their last.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 25, 2014I started reading this book with the expectation of enjoying the story, and I truly did. I liked that the leading lady gave as good as she got! No delayed gratification or false modesty. She knew what she wanted and took it. It was refresing to see this. Ms. Westlake was able to unfold a story that could have taken place if the heroine was true to her own feelings and desires for this rakish man.
I don't like giving the story away, but if you like hot scenes and character development, this book is for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 13, 2015Kit and Violet have a rough and Rocky road to over come. Reading how they interact and see things is interesting. When you rebel against something for so long it is hard to see that what you really want is right in front of you. Kit loses his memories temporarily and not knowing something is hard enough. But, when he gets enough bAck he does not tell Violet which is wrong because if he did then she would know that he really means what he says. Stubborn to the core Kit doesn't see that is why Violet doesn't believe he does not love her. She has nothing to go by. When all is said and done, Kit gets his HEA because he has learned his lesson and speaks plainly. Violet gets her HEA when she confronts Kit and speaks plainly.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2016A Marquess For Christmas by Vivienne Westlake is a fantastic historical romance. Ms Westlake has delivered a Christmas treat for reader with this amazing story. Violet and Kit's story is loaded with lovable characters, drama, action and sizzle. I enjoyed A Marquess For Christmas and look forward to reading more from Ms Westlake in the future. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 26, 2018I liked how independent Violet was in the story. Kit just hasn't found what he needs yet. It is very gallant of him coming to the rescue. Her staff in the house were great in the story. Sparks fly between them.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 14, 2015The language used is not well suited to recency era. I found the plot predictable and the characters too modern in there thinking. Poor attempt at historical romance.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2018Plot was thin. No real story to get into.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2012It took me 2 days to read this book, but only because I was busy. If I'd had the time I'd have flown through it. I just loved this book. I love that Violet wasn't your typical wallflower maiden who couldn't handle being around a wounded man. That she'd actually worked as a nurse during the war and had a spine of steel. I also like how Kit falls in love against his will. I literally love when a woman brings a haughty man to his knees.
A great read for anytime, not just Christmas.

2.0 out of 5 stars almost only sex scenes
almost only sex scenes and so I got bored: the plot could have been interesting (the usual rake who is reformed in the end through love is made more intriguing by his loss of memory and his injuries) but everything amounts to bedroom matters. The attraction between them sparkles soon enough, but I find it a bit unbelievable the fact that they are going to the intimate level so quickly and with him battered and weakened into teh bargain.
