    Title: Tormod
    Series: Immortal Highlander
    Author: Hazel Hunter
Designation: Book Four of Series, Full-Length Standalone, No Cliffhanger, Medieval Historical/Time Travel/Fantasy Romance
    Reading Platform: Kindle Edition
My Rating: Five Sexy Riveting Stars*****
**Disclaimer: Although there is an underlying interconnected storyline running throughout the series, each release focuses primarily on one couple finding love and their happy ending. I believe each of the books can still be read as standalones. The author does a fabulous job of giving the reader sufficient backstory, but I recommend reading the books in order of their release. It's one decision I'm sure you'll rever regret.

Oh my! I loved, loved, loved this book! I'm fascinated by stories featuring mythology, folklore, and fantasy, adore Time Travel Romance, infatuated with Medieval Historical Fiction, addicted to steamy romance, obsessed with strong, sassy heroines, completely smitten with sexy Scottish Highlanders from any century, and when I can find it all in one great read, I'm in heaven! And that's exactly what Hazel Hunter delivered - AGAIN! Hunter picks up the pace, kicks up the heat, and doubles the stakes in Tormod, the fourth riveting release in her mega-popular, can't-put-down Immortal Highlander Series! There are so many things I truly enjoyed about this book (and series), so let's talk details!

Tormod is a captivating, imaginative, unique, fast-paced, exceptionally well-crafted and edited, full-length standalone historical medieval time travel romance with paranormal, supernatural, and fantasy elements and filled to the brim with compelling drama, pulse-pounding danger, edge-of-your-seat action, daring adventure, nail-biting suspense, heart-wrenching angst, steamy passion, and heartwarming romance. The narrative is beautifully written in the third person with multiple perspectives and this story had quite a few. I stopped counting at eight! lol... In some instances, multiple points of view can be somewhat confusing to a reader if not skillfully written, but Hunter does an excellent job, and all the perspectives are clearly discernible. I always enjoy stories written with clearly defined multiple perspectives. It allows me to know the thoughts of all the primary characters, not just the protagonists, and I especially enjoy when we know what's going on in the convoluted minds of the bad guys. I think it adds so much more depth and understanding of the story. The dialogue is smart, snappy, and flows effortlessly. Obviously, Hunter did her research. I found the language and terminology of the era to be articulate, exceptionally well executed and authentic to the era. In other words, Hunter's fourteenth-century characters spoke like fourteenth-century Scottish Highlanders. In reality, none of us would be able to understand an actual fourteenth-century Highlander, but Hunter did make them sound as realistic as possible, which definitely added to my enjoyment of this story. But without a doubt, my favorite element of all Hunter's books is the characters, and this story is no exception. Hunter gives us a large cast of intriguing, engaging, and well-developed characters who literally explode from the pages, grab your imagination, demand your undivided attention, and completely capture your heart. I fell head over heels for the two protagonists, present-day archaeologist Jema McShane and Tormod Liefson, fourteenth-century former Norse Viking but now immortally cursed member of Isle of Skye Clan McDonnel. OMG! I loved these two characters! Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed all the characters but the lovely archaeologist and self-professed ditch digger Jema McShane grabbed me in the first few pages of the book. I was intrigued by both Jema McShane and her twin brother Gavin. And I've always had a real soft spot for underdogs, so the reserved loner Viking Tormod Liefson captured my heart when he was introduced as the mapmaker for Clan McDonnel in the first book of the series. I found myself more than a wee bit curious as to how a Norseman ended up as a warrior of the McDonnel Clan, especially since Vikings and Pritani had been enemies for centuries. I was ecstatic when I learned he would have a book of his own and Hunter didn't disappoint with his story. There isn't as much humor in this book as the first two, but there's just as much emotion, if not more since this story includes not one, but two time travelers. Heck, I still have whiplash from all the twists and turns in this story, and there were quite a few scenes that just ripped my heart right out of my chest but by the end, I was happy, satisfied, well entertained, and completely smitten with determined archaeologist Jema McShane and reserved mapmaker Tormod Liefson! Actually, it may be my favorite to date and we do discover how Tormod came to be one of the immortal McDonnel Clan! I don't really know how to explain it, but this book was so much more - more danger, drama, angst, action, adventure, passion, romance, and just more everything!

Cursed immortal warrior Tormod Liefson was on a quest to find the final resting place of the greatest Viking female warrior and shieldmaiden, Thora the Merciless. Thora was credited with the deaths of more Pritani than any warrior to have ever lived. But Thora the Merciless was more than just a great warrior, she was also Tormod's younger sister. It had been a thousand years since her death, but he'd made a vow to find her remains and move them to rest next to their parents, a promise he intended to keep. Unfortunately, he could never allow any of his adopted clansmen to know his plans. They would see it as a betrayal since they were Pritani and it was their people Thora had slain. The Vikings and Pritani had been mortal enemies for centuries. He'd been captured and enslaved but had been freed after agreeing to join the Pritani in defending the Druids from the Romans, which is how he came to be cursed with immortal life and now a member of the McDonnel Clan. But after a thousand years, most of his clansmen still didn't trust him. He was close to finding her grave; he could feel it. But it seems fate has other plans when the earth explodes around him and a beautiful young woman falls into his arms, literally, and crashes into his life. And not just any woman, but another woman from the future. Unlike the three previous women of Druid blood who traveled back in time to the fourteenth century Highlands, archaeologist Jema McShane is a Scot with questionable mixed ancestry and did not come through a portal from America. She fell through time via a portal located at a dig site in present-day Scotland while searching for Freya's Eye, an artifact thought to be only myth. And she didn't make the trip alone. Jema's terminally ill twin brother Gavin McShane was also pulled into the time vortex to the past, but they were somehow separated. Jema is injured during her journey and when she lands in the arms of Clan McDonnel's only Viking, Tormod Liefson, she has no memories of her past. Jema may not know her name but she arrives in the past with an unexpected and very special new ability. Oh my! Sparks fly and passion ignites between these two unlikely lovers, but fate seems to be against them! Will Jema and Tormod find happiness together? We'll see!

Did I like this book? No, I loved it! I was glued to my seat, white knuckling my ereader, completely captivated with my heart fluttering wildly in my chest as the time flew as quickly as the pages! I could not stop reading! I'm totally smitten with this entire series and can hardly wait to see what Hunter has in store for Gavin McShane in Book 5! Yup, we find out what happens to Gavin in the next book, and I've already preordered my copy! Would I recommend it? You bet and I a but only for adult readers since it does contain several explicit love scenes! If you enjoy well-written medieval historical tales with supernatural elements, and liberally seasoned with time travel, action adventure, danger, drama, passion, and romance, then this book is screaming your name! And if you loved the movie and series Highlander, this story will, most likely, tickle your fancy! Will I read this author again? Absolutely! And finally, was I entertained? Completely! Fabulous entertainment and an awesome read! Well done, Hazel Hunter! Well done, indeed! Tormod is my new favorite! Who knew he was such a smooth, silver-tongued devil?!? I have no idea how Hunter will top this book, but I have every confidence she will in Gavin's story!!!

There were a smattering of f bombs. Could have completely don’t without those. I did like the time travel piece and how it took place.

The pins and needles upon which I sat while reading this book have permanently scarred my poor rear end. The affliction started on about page 10, and hasn't left me since. "Tormod" had me anxious from the start. Hazel Hunter has a way of catching me off my guard. I generally feel like I can guess pretty accurately the path a story is going to take, but Ms. Hunter's plot twists continue to surprise me. I am having a hard time adequately reviewing this book without giving too many spoilers, so I will say this; "Tormod" is well worth reading, but you may want to wear mittens to protect your nails from being bitten to the quick, because this book is the embodiment of the term "nail biter"!. The action is pretty much non stop, so you will be fully engaged in the narrative. And... expect the unexpected. This story does not follow the path you expect it to. At all. I loved finally discovering how this intriguing Viking ended up in a Clan full of immortal Pictish warriors, and why he sounds so much like a Scottsman. As usual, I can't wait for the next book!

Tormod is the Viking at the McDonnel castle. The map maker. Jema McShane and her twin brother fall through Time but get separated. Jema discovers that she has a unique "power" now that she's in the 14th century.
It helps to have read the previous books in this series, as this is a continuation of the main story--just focusing on this couple. Really good story.

Ordered the entire series. Interesting concept. Decently written. Some parts had me scratching my head, but I still enjoyed the series. Might have been better if it was written into two or three novels that combined all of their tales instead of separately. Things seemed to get a little lost and confused. Otherwise a good read.

This is a new author for me Hazel Hunter is going to go on my must read list .Her descriptive writing is wonderful without being long winded .The characters might have magical powers and fierce fighting skill but they possesses relatable human emotions and insecurities. I started reading the first book in this series and couldn't stop .When I wasn't reading them I was thinking about them. A good book stays with well after you turn the last page .Tormond the smart ,handsome ,funny ,loyal, loving Viking will be one of those that I won't forget.
