My second TRUE STORY is called, FIVE WEEKS with events taking place in America, where I am nearly left for dead in a Pennsylvanian wood.

My third book, another true story is called, 24 Hours In New York.

My fourth book is called 13!

It was while living in Portugal several years ago, that David started to write Wrong Place Wrong Time as a blog, but a friend who read the first couple of chapters, told him it was too good for a blog, it must be a book.

David’s second book, Five Weeks, is another true story and catalogues a trip to America during which he was almost left for dead in a Pennsylvanian wood.

Davids third gripping true story is 24 Hours In New York!

New book is called 13

Apart from writing, David spends a lot of time promoting and marketing authors across the world on his social media platforms.

He has written eight books on book marketing in his My Way brand.

Oranges and warm water
I read, somewhere, that some decisions last a lifetime! Indeed! It is in the aftermath, and, perhaps, playing Monday quarterback, we relive those decisions:good, bad, and otherwise! To paraphrase a John Lennon song, ‘Life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans.’ I could summarize this extraordinary tale of David’s experiences and the consequences of some poor choices. I could take you on the fantastical sun-drenched beach of Marbella in Spain, and discuss my thoughts about meeting the son of Elvis and hound dog. I won’t! This story, a candid reflective work about this enormously talented author should be read, in my case, I read it twice and WILL,most certainly, read it again and again! It grips you, sucks you into a world of intrigue, mesmerizing descriptions, bigger than life characters, and, most importantly, for me, engages ALL of one’s senses.I so, (as a mother of three sons and two daughters-now,fully grown) wanted to, so many times during this unbelievable journey, jump in and like A Bridge Over Troubled Waters,(Simon&Garfunkel) lay me down and comfort David! Remarkable! Sometimes, upon reflection, we wish to re-do and/or undo this or that from the past:be that as it may, had this author not made ‘those’ choices, he might have had to live a life of what ifs. That’s not to say that, looking over one’s shoulder, chasing away past ghosts, and regaining family trust, are to be of little importance. Contrarily, upon looking back, and, perhaps, even distancing ourselves from traumatic events, we must accept, embrace our weaknesses and/or ill-thought out choices and accept that they do not define us (we are not our thoughts as real as they may have been/are,but rather, realize that, most times, these life challenges make us stronger! I so look forward to the movie and hope that the true essence of the story is captured as brilliantly as David did in his book! (No spoilers here)(Unedited)

Overall, this is a well written story of adversity and survival. We, in the states have heard the horror stories of life for those who were unfortunate to be arrested in foreign countries for drug smuggling or either unsavory deeds. If you ever watched “Midnight Cowboy,” you know what I’m talking about. Apparently, Mr. Pultmutter lived the true nightmare of being (in this case) unjustly charged with arson and manslaughter, yet correctly charged with theft, in Spain.
The story, in a sense could rival a James Bond movie as Bond runs the full gamut of success, failure, and escape in a relatively short time span. Something like two months. Hey, that’s pretty impressive.
I am not one to question an authors work, but in this case, if David was charged with manslaughter and arson, why would the Spanish government not pursue a fleeing fugitive? I did a few searches for fires in Marabella during the early nineties with no results. Odd. Perhaps the Spanish authorities were a bit embarrassed that a foreigner escaped with such ease.
That aside, the writing style will keep your attention as you attempt to figure out how in the world he is going to get out of his predicament. How would we react to being imprisoned in a foreign country with no money and no way to contact the outside world? Too say the least, that’s a scary premise all on its own. When David sees an opportunity to elude his captors, he chooses the only option available: escape. Should he have stayed and faced the music (as his father suggests) or should he bolt for freedom knowing he could be captured at anytime which will only result in additional charges being levied against him and a possible life sentence? Glad I didn’t have to make that choice.
Unlike many of the other reviews discussing his depths of drunkenness, let us remember, he is in his late twenties and enjoying the fruits of his labors. I know people well into their thirties and forties who were still living that lifestyle. This is an age where we considered ourselves being indestructible and the hangovers are easily discarded the next day. I don’t condemn him for his lifestyle choices at that age. He was after all, having fun.
Overall, a quick entertaining and engaging read.

Reviewed in Australia on December 10, 2016
This was quite a wild read (ride), a compelling tale the likes of which one simply couldn't make up! It is a true life horror story which is what I like to read (and write). The incident "proper" doesn't start until halfway through the book but this merely allows the tension to rise. When the full horror unfolds it isn't what you expect, it's worse. I found myself frustrated at the author's terrible decisions in the lead up, but this is an accurate depiction of what can happen to the young and foolhardy on holiday in foreign climbs. Reminds me a little of the show Holidays from Hell... let this be a warning to all unwary travellers, do your research and be aware of the local customs, politics and ins-and-outs, and stay on the beaten path! Sadly the publishers have done some small disservices to the author's mostly very good writing as there are some editorial errors sprinkled throughout. It does not however detract much from the reading experience, which is gripping!

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping, Page-Turning and Entertaining Audio Book.

    REVIEW
Wrong Place Wrong Time is a story about how he lost his job as an up-and-coming estate agent followed by a trip to Marbella, and the decision he made whilst being out there had nearly cost his life. I had the pleasure of listening to his audio book recently and was impressed with how these real life events were dramatised. I had to keep reminding myself that it was not fiction and that its not only someone’s life, but someone who I have had the pleasure in knowing. This audio book accompanied me many times on my school runs and shopping trips which meant I sailed through it.

David came up against some interest characters in this book. Rosa I liked, she brought beauty and peace into the narrative by having his back and just being sweet and oblivious to his struggles. Another favourite of mine was the Son of Elvis; favourite in a peculiar and funny sort of way. I won’t explain any further about Elvis, you’ll have to read the book to find out. I also loved the way he described his Mum and how her warm voice would bring joy to him whenever they spoke on the phone, and how her voice reminded him of the Queen.

My not so favourites characters were the dodgy journalist, the hotel porter and the brothers who ran the bar along with a few other jealous and horrid types who took pleasure in challenging David physically and mentally.

David’s story has captured the interest of many and tugged a few hearts strings as readers are offered a snapshot into his early life as a twenty-seven year old. While listening to this story and the chapters played on, I wondered how much could one person take and especially at such a young age? Things just went from bad to worse. But as the saying goes, what doesn’t kill you will make you stronger. I believe David’s time in Marbella had done just that, and by turning this horrific event into a book that he is able to share with the world and the shelves of Waterstones branches up and down the country, is testament to that.

If you read this you would have no choice but want to root for David, especially towards the end when faced with yet another the grueling task of leaving his apartment and making an his way back home. Wrong Place Wrong Time is a gripping, beautifully written, page-turning and surprisingly a laugh out loud read followed by moments of deep emotion.

Look out for more MYWAY books coming soon by this author.

4.0 out of 5 stars When truth is stranger than fiction
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on April 9, 2018
As I've seen for myself so often in life, truth can be stranger than fiction. Were this a fictional book, I likely would have given up on the MC quite soon, him being so naive and impulsive; however, this is a true-life account of what the author experienced and the decisions he made.

I found it an easy and entertaining read with good descriptions and frank honesty throughout. Some spelling hiccups let it down somewhat but not enough to seriously disrupt the flow of the read. The ending is well rounded and ties up loose ends. It held my attention all the way, and right up until the end, you didn't know how it would all turn out. I can see why someone has snapped up the film rights to this book. I shall keep an eye out for more from this author.
