The Island Dog Squad: (Book 3: People Problems): An Animal Cozy Mystery Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 33 ratings

FOR DOG LOVERS
"McEwan made her canine heroes almost human: these dogs think, reason, plot and plan. They feel the pain of both their canine and human friends and they share their feelings with their buddies through their barks and actions. Their “doggy dialogue” is as close to human dialogue as it gets and it’s so well done, it’s easy to forget at times that the protagonists of The Island Dog Squad are actually dogs... Clever writing indeed"
Reviewed By Viga Boland for Readers’ Favorite - 5 stars.

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

During her downtime Deb likes escaping from reality (and housework) to the bondu. This is where her characters and their stories are born.

She enjoys writing in different genres and this could be the reason why she’s not a New York Times best seller yet (though there could be lots of other reasons too.) Deb’s series include the supernatural suspense Afterlife books, the first of which was inspired by ants, Unlikely Soldiers (based on some of her experiences in the British Army) and The Island Dog Squad series of novellas. She’s also written children’s books about Jason the penguin and Barry the reindeer, a novel about netball players, as well as a non-fiction book about a boy born to be different (co-written with Zak’s Mum, Joanne). There are also two novels in the Aliens Guide series. Her latest books, The Island Expats, are cosy mysteries set on the fictional island of Souvia.

Her current work in progress is a fun read (not) about how she coped with cancer.

Deb’s husband, Allan, is also a weather refugee and they live in Cyprus with their rescue dog, Sandy.

The Island Dog Squad Back in Action! A~MAZ~ING!

The Island Dog Squad Back in Action! A~MAZ~ING!
OMG I loved 'The Island Dog Squad Book 3'. It follows on from the previous books so if you have not read Book 1 or 2 it is very highly recommended that you do.What a heart wrenching read. I cried on and off throughout the whole book (from the very first page). It is so hard to know where reality ends and fiction begins. Having the photographs of the squad at the front brings the story to life. Please note these books are NOT for the faint-hearted. Some sensitive readers will find the events taking place in this third book much more harrowing than the previous two. All the stories are told from the point of view of Sandy (Codename Fish) a rescue dog. Be sure to have tissues ready.

Stunning. Loved this and hope it isn't the end of the series - just please ease up a bit on the cruelty the dogs face. Wonderful portrayal of the dogs and their different characters. Which mesh well with their human parents.
Mia has had to go home. Now Steve too is homeless as someone has set fire to the rescue centre killing all but two of the dogs. However although basically okay health wise, the mental state of the two dogs is undermined. When Gina is threatened with a shotgun the guys know that something has to be done. She was threatened as Digger was dognapped and he's not the only one. Dogs all over the island are being taken and the owners blackmailed. Now both the her owner and Steve decide to take action. The squad decides to go with them. Will they find out what the twins have been up too? Will the stolen dogs be found? Will the men get out without any injuries? Will Steve and Gina become a couple? What's next - a new rescue centre or will the twins walk free as before?

This book carries on where the last one ended... with a gripping storyline and full of adventure! A real page turner and read in one sitting.
Sandy and her pals have a unique intuition and friendship, with their adventures addressing some true to life situations.
Whether you are a dog lover or not, you can’t help but fall in love with them all.
Waiting in anticipation for book 4!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Island Dog Squad is the best!
Reviewed in the United States on 4 April 2022
Sandy and her best friends, most of whom make up the elite dog squad are so achingly good hearted and brave, that you wish you could really be around such a valiant little group. I have really enjoyed this series, with its triumphs, and victory over evil and corruption. There is some heartbreak, though, but that is handled with much tenderness. The people parents are all sweet, loving and brave, too. A wonderful group that I would like to visit with again, if the author decides to send us off to The Island in the future.

Departure from police or detective stories. Good character development of both dog and humans. I would recommend it for children or adults.

Despite the talk about animal abuse, this was a good story with a “successful” ending. Good shall prevail. The books in this series bring to light the problem the world faces with too many animal (and human) abusers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great story about dogs and their parents

Loved this series about dogs and their adventures. I am sad to see this is the last book in the series. It's a great story on risk taking in order that loved are made safe. And that dogs dogs being submitted to cruelty are brought to safety.
