Matters of Life and Death Broché – 7 septembre 2020
Options d'achat et paniers Plus
Matters of Life and Death is a collection of stories that examines, in different ways, the many insecurities we experience whilst navigating our way towards the inevitable. Whether it is a fear of the unknown, the burden of loss, or the joy of first love, each of us shares a meandering journey of the unexpected that ultimately defines who we are and how we connect with the universe that created us.
These stories suggest that we are all seeking something. Maybe it is something eternal, as yet undiscovered or perhaps something lost. Could this common endeavour, this restless search, be the golden thread that links us all? Or is it our emotions, the raw energy that fuels the journey: sorrow, joy, anger, fear and love.
These 'matters of life and death' have been expressed in stories that share those emotions, take a glimpse into the lives of others, and invite the readers to consider the true nature of our world and their place in it.

5,0 sur 5 étoiles A unique book for our time past, present and post 2020 awakening.
I have just had the pleasure of reading Philip Stuckey’s debut Matters of Life & Death, which is a book of short stories. Philip is already a prodigious singer/songwriter, now I can confirm that he is also a phenomenal author.
His writing captures many stories from old folklore times to the present day, moving into our world’s dubious future, post the great 2020 awakening. The chapters I loved were; The Afterlife of Jacob Hardy, which tells the tale of a fearful novice guardian angel in training, who is confronted with the job of looking after a new baby girl. He is unsure of his strengths post-death, where later in the girl’s life he is challenged with her safety via a confident, boastful shadow entity.
Ray- a beautifully written moving account of being close to a dear friend during their time of passing.
Even Pain- One page of powerful emotion, when twin flames know what is to come. Teaching the reader of a new acceptance to the reality of death.
Beyond the Awakening – If I had read this chapter eight months ago, I would have said this was futuristic creative writing. Today October 2020 it is now a confident reality of our time post the 2020 great awakening which is happening to the world right now.
A debut masterpiece. By Claire Mear Author of Rocker Bye Baby

5,0 sur 5 étoiles Unusual, meaningful and beautifully written.
I knew of Philip Stuckey as an impressive singer-songwriter. So I knew that this incredibly talented man has a wonderful gift with words. I was delighted to purchase this book of short stories. Philip manages to capture the reader's attention as we want to know what happens next, while at the same time we find ourselves pondering the much deeper meanings at play.
This is a great book, full of mysterious, questioning depth. It is a book of stories to be read again and again.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book.

5,0 sur 5 étoiles An impressive and diverse collection of short stories that stay long in the mind
Philip Stuckey’s writing is a pleasure to read and his diverse and thoughtful selection of short stories gripped me throughout. Whether it’s an MR James-style horror story, a fairy tale, stories of witches and folklore, fantasy or even science fiction - his eloquent words and ease with narrative and dialogue resonate with you as aspects of life, death, love, fear and even the afterlife unfold. He can make you laugh, cry, reminisce and ponder your own life. Some of the stories will stick with you more than others, but all will get you thinking about the human condition. It was nice to see stories and themes covered in several songs by his progressive rock band Stuckfish, where he shows his singing is as good as his prose. I read all the stories in one day and will return to them again, no doubt.

5,0 sur 5 étoiles Wonderful short stories...
Stories that take you to places you want to go and some to places you don’t, all thought provoking and wonderfully crafted. My favourite ‘Ray’ had me in floods of tears - so moving and considered. There’s something for everyone in this book.
