THE NO. 1 SUNDAY TIMESBESTSELLER
________
Welcome to Clarkson's farm.
An idyllic spot offering picturesque views across the Cotswolds, bustling hedgerows and natural springs, it's the perfect plot of land for someone to delegate the actual, you know, farming to someone else while he galivants around the world in cars.
Until one day, Jeremy decided he would do the farming itself.
After all, how hard could it be? . . .
Faced with suffocating red tape, biblical weather, local objections, a global pandemic and his own frankly staggering ignorance of how to 'do farming', Jeremy soon realises that turning the farm around is going to take more than splashing out on a massive tractor.
Fortunately, there's help at hand from a large and (mostly) willing team, including girlfriend Lisa, Kaleb the Tractor Driver, Cheerful Charlie, Ellen the Shepherd and Gerald, his Head of Security and Dry Stone Waller.
Between them, they enthusiastically cultivate crops, rear livestock and hens, keep bees, bottle spring water and open a farm shop. But profits remain elusive.
And yet while the farm may be called Diddly Squat for good reason, Jeremy soon begins to understand that it's worth a whole lot more to him than pounds, shillings and pence . . .

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 January 2024Diddly Squat by Jeremy Clarkson is a rip-roaring, belly-aching, and utterly delightful trundle through the muddy fields of farming - Clarkson style. Picture this: a man known for his high-speed antics and acerbic wit, tackling the slow-paced, earnest world of agriculture. It's like putting a fox in a hen house and expecting eggs for breakfast! But here's where Clarkson, with all his motoring bravado, surprises us. His foray into farming, chronicled in this gem of a book, isn't just a series of slapstick misadventures (though there's plenty of that); it's a heartfelt, earnest attempt at mastering the art of farming.
Through his humorous Sunday Times columns, now brilliantly collated in Diddly Squat, Clarkson swaps supercars for tractors and takes us on a joyride across his land. His trials and tribulations, from battling the weather gods to wrestling with red tape, are narrated with such wit that you can't help but chuckle. Yet, amidst the laughter, there's a resonating truth that strikes a chord, especially for those in the farming community. Clarkson sheds light on the harsh realities of farming - the skyrocketing costs, the thankless hard work, and the often overlooked struggles of farmers in a post-Covid world. It's a rare glimpse into the life of those who toil to fill our plates, told through the eyes of a man who's more at home on a race track than a crop field.
For Clarkson fans, Diddly Squat is a no-brainer – it’s classic Clarkson, with an agricultural twist. For the sceptics, give it a whirl; you might just find yourself chuckling despite your reservations. In essence, this book is not just a hilarious account of a motoring journalist-turned-farmer; it's a hat tip to the unsung heroes of the farming world, served with a side of classic Clarkson humour. So, buckle up and prepare for a bumpy ride through the fields of Diddly Squat. You're in for a treat!

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 4 January 2025This was an enjoyable and quick bit of palette cleansing between proper books by proper authors. It was everything you would expect by someone like Jeremy Clarkson, and fully explains his recent hissy fits about the farm inheritance tax changes. As he says in the book, he was hoping to use the farm as a convenient way to pass on some of his vast wealth without having to contribute very much to the nations kitty, in much the same way that city fatcats buy up farmsteads to graze their racehorses on, instead of producing food. Sadly, this is the country we live in.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 5 August 2024Ok so this isn’t my usual kind of read, but when I brought it for Adam for his birthday I couldn’t help but pick it up.. and before I knew it I had read the whole thing!!!
It was so addictively hilarious and light hearted!!! I’m a thriller girl at heart but this made such a nice change for me.. I could literally not stop laughing out loud most of the time 🤣
I am obsessed with the TV show Diddly Squat Farm, and I have loved Jeremy Clarkson from the early top gear days (I vote him as the new prime minister 🤣💕) and this book was literally like watching the show.. he doesn’t hold back his thoughts and feelings about the tedious farming industry.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 October 2024I had a chance to read this book - a compilation of columns relating purely to Jeremy's farm - before watching Clarkson's Farm on Prime Video. Am I glad I did! It was really cool to watch, in more detail, the things he'd written about, almost like having an inside line to the show. As ever, his writing is brilliant and it's a great read - just make sure you're not in a library because its inevitable that you'll laugh out loud!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 31 December 2024this was brought as a present, my friend said that it was very funny
