- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2024I have read through the reviews, and it seems has if the concept has been missed to some readers. Libby is sweet, smart, courageous, outspoken, but what she lacked was confidence. Her confidence was the main problem and that's why she was mistreated the way she was. Her family back home really isn't worth a crap and being thrust in a new place she wants to fit in but doesn't know how.
And then comes along Ben who is technically a bully but from his point of view, he doesn't see it as bullying, he sees it as a chance to actually interact with Liberty. He is handsome, athletic, rich, but feels that around Liberty he's inadequate, which I love how he constantly explains throughout the series, but one thing for sure, two things for certain, it was no secret he liked Liberty. When Theo said "He's going to kill me" during his and Liberty kiss, I knew immediately Ben was infatuated and made it clear that she was off limits to boys around school.
This book has me hooked that I know for a fact I'm going to leisurely pick it up every now and again to get that high!!! And Ben is such an alpha, like *bites lip* hahahhaha
This author did an amazing job keeping you engaged and looking forward to what's next.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2021This was everything you would expect in a young adult romance. We are getting all the drama, the angst and the passionate plans they can come up with and execute. All the drinking, the drugs that are being passed around and the lack of adult supervision is just ridiculous. The writing is just stellar, its as if you are one of them and you are telling the story. As for Ben,Libby and Theo there's more to the story.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 19, 2021This is a great book! I began reading it thinking it was going to be another irritating story of racism, but it’s not! It starts out with a girl who has moved from the US to England to put her past behind her. As she is the only African American student everyone at the school puts her down and she has no friends to talk to. After having put up with the hurt and humiliation for awhile she begins to fight back and is taken to task for it by the dean. However, she isn’t faulted for the fighting as the Dean has heard rumors of the bullying from other students. Ben is the school jock, he’s the guy everyone wants to be with or friends with. He begins by tripping her in the cafeteria and goes from there to becoming a friend and then becoming a boyfriend, however, he’s jealousy of anyone who she speaks to and has a hard time keeping himself calm when she’s around. They make a good couple but both have issues that keep them apart.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 4, 2024Sweetheart Teenage Romance … Hard to believe that 18 year olds are that educated but could not figure out that it was Hannah & Jess. Theo is not a real friend; he should have told her about Blaire.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2021When I first received the email for this book release back in March, I couldn't wait to start reading it. The description pulled me in completely and it was even better than I thought it would be. I like that Libby wasn't a total push over, she fought back when she had to, but I also appreciated the moments she just needed to cry and feel when she was being treated horribly. By the end I adored Ben and I'm so curious about his family. I can not wait for book two!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 18, 2023First of all, I’m going to need Libby to stop being so naive and gullible. I think Ben just wants to screw her. How do they just get a slap on the wrist, but the crap happens in real life. I’m trying to figure out why it is so many books. I will read the next and see it through.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 29, 2021This book reads like a well written YA with adult spice. I didn't know ow what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. I like the perfect mixture of both American and British culture. Boarding schools are horror that I imagined seen through Libertys eyes. This book deals with bullying and tragic loss from the perspective of a young adult. I am excited for the next book!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 28, 2022First, the reviews for this book are wrong. Half the reviews are for a different book. But, this book? Libby was boring…and I kept getting 2003 vibes. All the stuffing the hands in pockets, long shaggy hair, and popped collars. I really wanted to like this book, but there was so much unimportant distractions from other characters. If this author would have spent time developing Libby into anything with a personality then rather than all the extra character maybe it would have been a good book. Libby didn’t have a backbone, she didn’t know who she was, she wasn’t mature enough to deal with being so far away without a support system, she didn’t know how to handle herself or her emotions. She was an underdeveloped 18 year old that should have gone to a boarding school in America. Everyone in this book was crazy. There was no one in this book with a lick of sense, which made it hard to continue reading. It wasn’t dark, it was boring. Really, I just needed Libby to stop trying to fit in with these people and find people that she could fit in with. Like even someone off campus?
I stopped around page 250, there was no point going on when I knew I wouldn’t finish the series. There are 6 books! The next 2 are still about the same couple (that’s as far as I’ve checked). If nothing has happened halfway through the book, then I can’t imagine how drawn out the next books will be.
Lastly, I don’t see how the character on the cover could rule the school and be the hottest guy there. Unbelievable. I might be shallow. You know what? I am. So in being shallow I can say that this author did nothing for making either main character attractive, not even a little bit. Every time she described him I kept thinking…why? And the author made sure we couldn’t tell what Libby looked like, so I just kept having a very unattractive picture in my head…and that sucks.
So 2 stars for effort…

4.0 out of 5 stars Teenaged angst, but inthralling
I enjoyed this book; although at times it was a bit longwinded or maybe that was my excitement. Overall I would recommend it if you like teenaged angst. However, I am now about to buy and download the rest of the series.

2.0 out of 5 stars I hate bullying full stop.
Didn’t get to read this book. The writer must have done a good job in it. However from family experience the bully relationship ended in murder so bugger that.
