Commander Adrik"Thunder" Houston stole my heart with his cheesy pickup lines, corny jokes and his swoon-worthy speeches. The uniform and motorcycle might have had helped too. So I did what every girl is going to want to do, I licked him! - J'sBook Corner

Susana Mohel has written a solid Military Romance. It is angsty, suspensful, and entertaining. The attraction between Jordania and Adrick is instant and unwavering.
The insight into the world of a U.S. Naval Officer is interesting and inspires respect for the challenging experience it is. The backstories for both characters are well-developed. The plot is complex and well-planned.
There are several interesting secondary characters who warrant having their stories told. This book lays a solid foundation for a series that will make for several hours of entertainment.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 30, 2021didn’t quite fly through this one as I did the last two of Mohel’s books I have been reading. There’s this pesky thing called family and for some reason they like for me to spend time with them. But I read when I could. And each time I picked up the book, I was right there in their Navy world. With Mohel’s amazing ability to story tell, I felt I knew a little something about the Navy, while having zero knowledge what so ever.
Jordania has fought her whole military career to not be seen as her father’s daughter. With the rank that he has, it would be easy for people to assume she got to where she is by his name alone. But living the life she wants is not easy when he does pull rank and gets her into a training that is going the opposite direction of where she wants to be. But I absolutely loved her. She is a fierce chick that doesn’t let anyone walk over her. Except her dad and he doesn’t do so easily. She fights him tooth and nail and holds her own.
While she does have fears like every one else in life, I loved seeing Adrik tear down her walls and truly get to her. Adrik is something else. Absolutely amazing. He is supposed to be like every other military guy Jordania has ever known. But slowly he shows her that those other boys have nothing on him. And eventually he gets her to take a chance on them and see what could happen. And it was everything.
I have kind of read this series out of order but each book can be read as a standalone. Because even though a “knew” Jordania from BLURRED LINES, there wasn’t anything that ruined this book for me. The same could be said for the other couples I plan to read soon. 5 Stars!!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2020Jordania has invested her heart and soul towards her Navy career and she is determined to achieve success on her own merits and not because of her last name. She is strong, independent and says and does what she feels is right and doesn’t back down from anyone and that includes Adrik.
Adrik has also dedicated his life to the Navy and is the perfect combination of strong and sexy but that is only part of the man. He also has a fun side which is something that Jordania needs in her life.
He is determined that they belong together, and she is just as determined to keep him at a distance but before the winner is declared there is a lot of emotion, twists and suspense along the way.
These two were perfect for each other as they had a way of challenging each other that only makes their relationship that much stronger. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2022Jordania is given a new opportunity that she doesn't want. The opportunity turns out to be a blessing in disguise. When Jordania and Adrick met there was an instant attraction between them. However, they are only in time for a short time. Fate had another plan for the two, when they bumped into each other in a new town. Jordania is hesitant to give her heart after her last relationship but Adrik was determined to change her mind. He's intense. As they spend time together Jordania feelings change. Jordan's insecurities are not the only thing that challenges their relationship. There's danger (which is nice little twist). Engaging read from beginning to end.Recommended. I received a free copy of this book from hidden gems and am voluntarily leaving a review.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 8, 2021I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a complimentary copy. Jordania has followed in her father's footsteps and entered the Navy. She has forged her on path through challenges and obstacles without using her father's famous career to make the way for herself. Jordan is strong and independent, she wants a different path from her father, who wants her to following him to Washington DC for a more political path. Jordan prefers the engineering path and she is in for a battle of will with her father.
Adrik Houston is also in the Navy and they bump into each other while Jordan is stationed in Hawaii. Adrik comes across cheesy at first but he most certainly grows on you. I liked how he was committed to his career but he understood you have to have a balance in your life so he knew how to let go and have fun. Jordan on the other hand was all business and I am glad she met Adrik, he is what she needs to have a better overall lifestyle.
There are obstacles in Jordan and Adrik way to happiness, one being her father and the other you will need to read to find out. I really enjoyed and was greatly appreciative for a strong female character that does not let the male run all over her.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great characters, and idea, but the story fell flat for me
I'm on record as saying I detest first-person, present-tense writing, it really makes it difficult for me to immerse myself in the story, so that was the first hurdle I faced. I also had a difficult time adjusting to the syntax of the book, which was quite formal with uncontracted words that made conversations sound stilted and unnatural. I'm not sure if this was supposed to reflect the "military" aspect of the story or if it's a style particular to the writer, but it took me a hot minute to get used to.
Jordan (Jordania) is a Navy Lieutenant, who has charted her own course and career, despite her Admiral father's opinion of what that should be. As the book opens he has arranged for her to take advantage of an opportunity that was not part of her career plan, necessitating her transfer from Pearl Harbour to San Diego. As she is preparing to leave, she meets Adrik, and their chemistry was instantaneous and off-the-charts. She figures she'll never see him again but fate and destiny are mischievous forces. It was deliciously delightful that he turned out to be a Commander at her new base...
Except, after their initial interaction, it felt his pursuit of her was pretty one-sided, unsolicited, and without a clear rationale, aside from lust (which isn't really my cup of tea) and that's with the benefit of the book being written exclusively from her POV. He was relentless in his pursuit showing he was all in and she barely had her toe in the water. I loved each of them in their own right, they were strong-willed, career-focused, confident people and I enjoyed their banter and interactions but didn't really get them as a couple.
I'm having a hard time articulating myself.
It was a good story, but could have done with a little more relationship building, clearer indication of Jordan's interest and better handling of her objections to the relationship and elimination of the weird side plot that developed towards the end with a nefarious person trying to keep them apart (or started it earlier in the book maybe as it seemed to come out of left field).
All in all I liked the book subject/story, loved the characters, hated the writing and am not sure if I would read more by the author or not.
