The Lost Witch (The Coven: Elemental Magic Book 1) Kindle Edition
I was nobody. No matter how hard I tried, I never fit in with anyone at my high school. Now I know why.
Turns out I'm a witch. A scary powerful one, too. Except The Coven that claimed me won't teach me how to use my magic.
Suddenly, I'm selected by the Goddess to hunt down a mythical locket needed to save the world from destruction. The only person who actually tries to help me is the alarmingly attractive Tennessee. He has immeasurable power and breathtaking mismatched eyes. I'm drawn to him on a level I can't explain...and he's forbidden from getting too close to me.
When the quest takes an unexpected dangerous turn, I have to improvise. This supernatural world is unraveling at my fingertips and I need to master my magic fast. If I don't, I could get everyone I care about killed...
Featuring a kickass heroine, forbidden love, and magic you’ll wish was real, fans of The Mortal Instruments, Twilight, or Harry Potter will love Chandelle LaVaun’s brand new urban fantasy series!

- Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2024Well written characters, intense ingredients to the quest, a little romance, and rules that are guaranteed to be bent if not broken make this an awesome beginning to the series!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 1, 2019I really like the FLC Tegan and MLC Tennesse. I like the way the author made the witches really strong and with different types of magic. A twist on the normal paranormal witch book. Tegan and her sister Emersyn are twins, I guess split at birth. That hasn't been revealed yet. They terrorised outside of the coven with no knowledge of the paranormal. Enjoying so far, but I hope the romance doesn't go back and forth for long.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2024WOW!! This was such an awesome book!!
This book was a great start to an amazing series! It is told from alternating POVs of Tegan (our heroine) and Tennessee (our hero). Tegan has lived her life with her dad and brother and then suddenly after her 16th birthday, they all have to move to Florida. There she meets her new step-mom and step-sister, Emersyn. They are both then introduced to the world of magic and the Coven. I love this group of characters so much and Chandelle’s world building really just pulls you right into the story.
I absolutely love the relationship between Tegan and Tennessee and everything that they have to go through. Poor Tennessee is really just trying to do the right thing but will it back fire?
In this story we go on a quest and I really loved all the clues and trying to figure out what would happen next!
This story is filled with action, romance, magic, humor and so much mystery.
I can’t wait to read the next!!

- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2023I read this on my Kindle and just wow!
The story building and the world of magic she created is the best I have read by far. I love how the Major Arcana of the Tarot deck was incorporated into the story line, it's unique and is written beautifully.
Tegan is my favorite character and I strive to be her. She loves her family so much and is willing to step in front of them to battle the evil of the world. The way she handles everything thrown at her with a devious smile on her face made me laugh out loud so many times. Don't get me started of Tennessee, he is everything I want my husband to be and more. He is literally the perfect Book Boyfriend. The way he calls Tegan, Kitten is swoon worthy. The longing between them keeps me on the edge of my seat. The rest of The Coven are hilarious making me laugh. Emersyn, Royce, and Henley are my other favorite characters from this book.
With all that said I couldn't put this book down and read it in only 2 days, I had to work unfortunately or I'm sure I would have finished it in a day.
If you are a fan of witches then this book is most certainly the one for you. Take a chance and go on an adventure with The Coven. Chandelle LaVaun has created the best world to slip into and get lost in.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2023I'm a bit disappointed that I couldn't find or read 0.5 Book "The Chosen Witch"of this series. It was a bit discerning to read about the first quest and other characters that I didn't get a chance to be introduced to because the novella wasn't available in kindle or anywhere else for that matter! (eye roll) With that being said I did enjoy book one and I think I'll enjoy the rest of the books in this series going forward, hopefully! Fingers crossed! Hmmm...
Overall Rating:
3* ~ A Good Read
- Reviewed in the United States on July 28, 2024I think the ending was extremely abrupt and unexpected going into the next book, but the story is very good. Says the are 7 books but honestly this one could've been a little longer. I'm wondering it they'll all be like that.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2020First, there is a prequel novella that needs to be read before this story, the author has it on her site, go get it!
Second, this book ends on a cliffhanger, as in the adventurers are in the middle of something when it ends. If you don’t like cliffhangers, make sure you have the next book ready and lined up!
Now, this book tells the story from the alternating points of view of Tegan (our heroine) and Tennessee (our hero). The first scenes in the book are Tegan’s viewpoint of the events that occurred in the prequel novella, which was all from Tennessee’s POV.
Tegan has no idea that she has power, and when she is suddenly introduced to the magical world, she deals with it like a boss. She’s always been drawn to magic and witchcraft, so it doesn’t phase her much.
The thing is, you know a lot more about Tegan than she knows about herself, and by the end of the book she STILL doesn’t know very much, and there are one or two huge secrets left to be revealed.
This series is more of a serial storyline than a series, as each book is far from being standalone, in fact they carry on where the last one left off.
It’s well written, and entertaining, but I can’t help wondering if the main characters will ever learn the important things about themselves that they are still clueless about!
If you enjoy swords and sorcery style fantasy in a modern setting, and the serialized story format, then you’ll enjoy this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 11, 2021Very entertaining and well written for YA novels. Good characters not too much teenage angst, very likable and realistic. Sarcasm is hysterical, the author definitely hits a home run there in the occasional snarky dialog.
Overall fun plot and adventures. I have read all the books and my only negative comment would be to buy the author a thesaurus. When our multiple pairs kiss, it’s the exact same description over and over. Can you please come up with something other than fisting hair, leaning back, deepening the kiss etc? It’s like okay they are going to make out so let’s just cut and paste - every damn time.
So here’s to finishing off the third segment with The Fae without that. Please, you write great plots I know you can do better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great debut to a promising series!!
I chose this novel of my own volition and promised the author an honest review. I absolutely love this novel!! All of the characters are well developed and easily likeable. They all work well together and their individual dynamics make you want to keep reading. I’m not one for romance but the relationship between Tegan and Tennessee is intriguing. I love that the author doesn’t reveal everything and this is what makes a great series because you want to keep reading just to find out the answer behind the secrets. I will definitely be reading the rest of this series and if it continues to be as good as I expect, then I will be reading everything this author has to offer!

2.0 out of 5 stars Nice descriptive writing style but overall... Meeh
Im really into Linsey Halls Dragon Gift series and I tried out this book because she recommended it in her newsletter.
I really liked the overall storyline and her writing style, especially when she describes surroundings or atmosphere, really immersive.
But thats where it ended for me.
I have to admit I stopped reading about half through so I cant speak for the rest of the story but the first half just didnt do it for me.
***minor spoilers***
So when Tegan first met Tennessee she was instantly all over him and despite her usual tough and nonchalant attitude she behaved almost like a sexhungry teen, the only word I can come up with to describe it is CRINGEWORTHY..
And it doesnt break off, when they meet the second time they don't even talk much they just instantly make out and even though its later told that theyre soulmates its just too unbelievable tjat you would do such a thing when youre a girl like Tegan.
Im reall sorry my review is so devastating, since I normally enjoy these types of stories very much, but this was just too much to bare..

5.0 out of 5 stars Great start to a new series!
I was totally captivated from the first page.
This is an exciting book. The chemistry between characters leaps from the pages, you can almost feel them sparks. Regan is my favourite character along with Tennessee mmhhh yes please.
Imagine just finding out you are a witch and demons etc are real.
Wow!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Starts with a bang and just keeps going.
FYI - in my reviews I try to avoid spoilers. This is my overall opinion of the story and how it played out.
By the time you reach the end of this book you'll no doubt empathise with Tegan and Emersyn. From the very beginning they've fallen right into the middle of everything with no choice but to keep moving forward with only the barest of answers to all their questions of why. To their credit, they accept their new roles willing, although when the get a chance to breathe, they might feel differently. The Coven is a different take on wiccan hierarchy that I've never read before. I love how Chandelle has tied it with the Arcana and formed a governing body that's not just based on bloodlines, but a balance of magical skills and temperments. As this review comes after my second reading of the book, I now understand more than I did the first time, and like I said, you will likely have a million unanswered questions. My advice? Keep reading. I've read the entire series, and I can promise it's worth it.
