Three Dog Night (The Dogmothers Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 1,322 ratings

The Dogmothers – A heartwarming romance series set in a small town with a big family and plenty of dogs!

The son of a Greek restaurant owner, Alex Santorini has spent his life behind the grill instead of flexing his creative culinary muscles in a bigger, better kitchen. But when his grandmother nudges him toward a local winery seeking a chef for a celebrity wedding, Alex sees a chance to prove himself. And he wouldn’t mind catching the eye of a beautiful vintner who has been avoiding him.

Raised in a series of foster homes, Grace Donovan has built protective walls around her that very few people can tear down. But the fiery Greek chef she’s hired to help her with a major event that will put her winery on the map just might be able to do the job. Not only does Grace need Alex’s incredible talent in the kitchen, he also wants to help her find the mother of three puppies abandoned at her vineyard. In the process, Alex helps Grace make a shocking discovery about her own mother, opening up a door to a family she never knew she had. Will Grace choose the family of her heart…or stay with a love she may never have again?

The Dogmothers
These two matchmaking grannies are opposites in life but lined up on love. One has the steel spine of a Greek warrior, the other the heart of an Irish poet. Together, along with a duo of darling dachshunds, these two won’t stop until all their grandchildren are hooked, hitched, and happy.

Amazing family with cooking and puppies in North Carolina setting
This review was originally posted on Books of My HeartReview copy was received from Publicity team. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.I have been reading the wonderful Dogfather series slowly. I love the combination of both small town and a big family making it warm and fun; the addition of dogs was just another big plus. It's set in North Carolina near the Blue Ridge mountains, too! I have bought some of the books and now they seem to be somewhat available at one of my libraries.Daniel Kilcannon (the Dogfather) is a veterinarian; his sister is the mother of the Mahoneys and his new wife, the mother of the Santorinis. These three big families have become one family with big hearts, and provide an amazing support system. Now there is a spin-off series, The Dogmothers. This is the Irish mother of Daniel and the Greek mother of his new wife. I would read each series in order with the close family dynamic meaning you will see previous couples in the next ones. You will see the all the clans here and it's really a joy to see the inclusive support, both emotionally and helping with whatever is needed. It's a safety net of kindness and caring in a crazy world. They are all around for Sunday dinners at the Kilcannon home. It's such fun to see them with their kids, including new babies and, of course, their dogs.Three Dog Night has a bunch of things happening. Grace is the newish owner of a winery who just hosted the wedding for Daniel Kilcannon. Alex is the bride's son and is a chef but has so far worked in his family's Greek restaurants with its long-time menu. Alex is also interested in Grace.Grace's chef quits and Alex sees an opportunity to get to know Grace. It will also let him use his training which is something he always has wanted to do. Grace doesn't know him other than a small-town cook. She is hurt by never being accepted whether it is by foster families or her departing chef. Grace isn't open to any kind of relationship since she always gets left. But the chef who took off for a "better" job, also left some puppies someone abandoned.Between Alex's family support system and three young puppies who have lost their mother, too, Grace can't hold back the feelings. It's a bit of a bumpy journey but with lots of love and the good guys win!

THREE DOG NIGHTS is a standalone read and part of a series. Any place you start is a great place. you will probably go back to #1 to see how it all starts and then you will stick to it until the end, so be ready for some good reading. This story is just PERFECT to me. I love a story with a great hero, and Alexander the Great is just that. A strong heroine with a backbone and the courage to be her own person. There has to be a bit of laughter, happy tears, loving, a charge of the Calvary of Kilcannons and two matchmaking grannies. And of course, DOGS, lots and lots of DOGS of every size, shape, and color. GREAT read. I definitely recommend it.

Alex is a Greek chef. His family, the Santerini's own a restaurant in town as well as the next town over. They have been in the business for generations and Alex is the new generation to take over the role. It is not exactly what he wanted for his life but it is family and everything is about family. He doesn't feel he really has a choice. Otherwise he is pretty happy with his life. At the wedding of his mother to Daniel Kilcannon he meets Grace Donovan, the owner of the winery where their wedding takes place. She doesn't really give him any encouragement but he is determined to get her attention. She resist.

At that same wedding, her chef quits and walks out on her. She goes to his little cottage to beg him not to leave as she has a big interview coming up with a celebrity couple looking for a venue. At the cottage she finds three young puppies. She has no idea where they came from or what to do with them.
But the day is saved when Alex walks up looking for an item his granny lost while attending the wedding. Since dogs are the Kilcannon's business, he gets Grace and the three pups in his car and takes them to the big dog facility.

From that point on they are thrown together. Turns out Alex is a trained chef from French schools and he knows how to cook. She is beyond thrilled and talks him into working for her. Just want he wants, he now has her attention.

I LOVED this story. It has everything I love in a romance. A strong sexy hero, a strong, independent heroine. A few issues they both need to work through. And then there are all the family secrets that have Gracie and Alex solving to help Gracie find who she really is. The secrets were great and once they were on the trail it is hard to lay the book down. I couldn't. I just kept reading until I had been at it for almost 4 hours. WELL WORTH EVERY MINUTE. So far, this may be my favorite DOG book. I loved it. Well done Ms. St. Claire.

I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 11/10/2019.

I am old enough to remember the singing group Three Dog Night, and I knew that “three dog night” is a slang term for a night cold enough to require a pile of at least 3 dogs sleeping with you to keep you warm. That prior knowledge is not required to understand and enjoy this book, nor do you have to have read the previous ones in the series. If you read no other books in the Dogfather or Dogmother series, read this one. It has a lot of family, a lot of dogs, and a lot of love. As always with Ms St Claire’s books, the people feel like neighbors you know well, the dogs are lovable and real, and the story well written.
This is the story of Alex Santorini and Grace Donovan. Alex has always been surrounded by family, and it has shaped who he is. He would prefer to be a French-inspired chef, but he is the short-order cook at his family’s Greek grill because that seems to be what his family needs. Grace has been a foster child her whole life, but she has a very few memories from before she entered the system at 5. Does she really have a little brother and sister or did she make them up? Or perhaps it was one of the early foster homes? Somehow when she saw this winery it felt like home, and the price was right for her to buy it.
These two people are so different, but Alex is interested in Grace so he pushes. He pushes to help her by being her chef so she can land the wedding of the century for her winery venue. He pushes to help her take care of the 3 puppies abandoned at the winery. He pushes her to try to learn more about her childhood and her family. And he pushes her to join his family. He does not push her to have sex right away, but when there is sex it is memorable. They make a great couple. I hope you love them as much as I do.

Very rare for a book to move me to tears but this quiet, sentimental, story did. Not my normal response but the characters, both two footed and four footed, got to me. A quick, delightful,
read for a gloomy fall day. Thank you Roxanne St. Claire!!

I love Roxanne St. Claire and the whole crazy gang of characters and dogs from Bitter Bark, North Carolina. In Three Dog Night, The laugh a minute Dogmothers, have set their match making sights on the Santorini clan. The Greeks have only recently joined up with the Irish Killcannon and Mahoney family. Yet, they are more then able to keep up with the Irish when it comes to big, noisy families, who love to eat, drink, and join forces to solve any family problem that comes up.
Three Dog Night was full of love, laughter and sweet tears. It had me missing home and noisy family dinners. Roxanne has a way of taking me home, even though my home is a small town in Northern California and her book world is the Blue Ridge Mountains. (Which is a favorite place of mine, so a little virtual travel to North Carolina is good for the soul).
I love this series so much. I would love to join them for them for Sunday dinner on Waterford Farm, play with the dogs, listen to Gramma Finnie's Irish proverbs and never, ever leave. After reading Roxanne St. Claire's Three Dog Night, reality sucks!

Each time I finish one of Roxanne’s books I think it is my favorite! After reading all Dogfather books and now Dogmother books, I have come to the realization that I enjoy each book so much that it is my favorite!!! Roxanne’s books, including all the Barefoot Series and her other books, each are so well written that I so totally love that book that I am reading. What I am trying to say is that each book is so perfect that I doubt she can do it again, and then she does it again with the next book!!! I love Toby Neal, Kassandra Lamb, Sharon Esposito, Janet Evanovich and some others but can not wait for Roxanne’s next book and then cannot put it down to do something else without my mind having a hard time until I can get back to reading it again! Three Dog Night has terrific characters, wonderful dogs (JB was fabulous), great businesses and descriptions that build mind pictures!!! How I LOVE your books Roxanne!!!!!!

I shed tears, giggled, laughed out loud, and could NOT stop until the end. Such a satisfying ending. 💕 Gracie's past history flashed past in faint memories, as she worked to make marvellous wine using her science degree in oenology (wine-making). And with Alexander the Great - an amazing top-tier Chef - supporting her... How could they avoid falling in love? Throw in 3 abandoned puppies, the close-knit Santorini family, a celebrity wedding, and more. What an incredible story - I loved every bit of it, even the oh-oh-challenges. Highly recommended!

It's a fascinating tale where you laugh a little and you cry a little, tears of sadness and joy. If this book is typically of this author then I can't wait too read more of her books.
