- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 November 2024This book has helped me to understand my skin and the products we really need (or don't need!).
I have found it difficult over the years to navigate information about skincare, but this book has summarised the evidence clearly and showed me how less is best, and to keep things simple.
Thank you

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 17 February 2023This will save you a fortune & help your skin hugely if you let it.
I've been following the overnight for only 4 nights & my skin is glowing, my under eye bags - decreased, wrinkles - less visible.
I'm 53, 54 soon with oily mature skin - my eyes are / were driest - this method has made a visble difference to my puffy, deep wrinkled eyes in just days.
Get this book - it will save you confusion & a fortune.
For oily skin - just use vaseline on dry or damp skin.
For dry skin - moisturise and then use vaseline.
Would be my only recommendations.
But - to understand why & why the skin industry is a fraud - read the book.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 21 September 2022Well, what an amazing book! I am now 44 and wish I had this information to hand when I was going through the misery of acne from about the age of 17 and then on and off until I was 35. It was just awful and I wish I had this information. Like many people, I bought the astringent products in the hope they would dry out my spots not realising that many of the products would have been making my spots worse!
I am also so pleased I have this book to hand ready in case my children experience acne when they are older. My poor mum was always helpless when it came to trying to help me sort out my skin and I remember times when I would be out shopping with her and tell her I wanted to go home because I felt people were staring at my skin. I was helped by Roaccutane in the end which was prescribed by a dermatologist. The guidance in this book is invaluable and it makes you watch skincare (or should that be "Big skincare") adverts in a whole new light. When Eva Longoria spouts "Hyaluronic acid" at you from the TV in future, you will know what guff the advert is because Hyaluronic acid is only effective if injected into the skin as the molecules are too big to permeate the skin if applied topically (get me!). It has also made me realise how ageing the sun is so I am being more sun conscious too. This was such an interesting book and will be firmly remaining on my bookshelf for future reference.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 April 2024This is my bible, it's an excellent read, i read it cover to cover over a 3 day period.
If you're serious about learning, from a medical Consultant Dermatologist and not a beauty trained dermatologist THIS book is for you.
She's NOT in paid partnerships and is very blunt and straight talking - if you want to be advised, and sold, specific products - she doesn't do that, she doesn't recommend anything - it's all about the facts.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 July 2022In the modern 'appearance-focused' world of social media skin and hair products are now so widely advertised promoted, as the next big thing.
Many of us with any skin problems, hair problems, anti-ageing whatever imperfection we think we have.
we tend to, throw all the skin ingredient-led products at our skin and hair.
Furthermore, with so much (mis)information out there, it can be hard to know where to start
So, if you’re looking for evidence led information by a well-regarded dermatologist
I highly recommend you read this book. It provides information in everyday language.
Its also going to save me lots of pennies ;) as I no longer buy into the hype of over use of skin care that I don’tneed or doesn’t work any way.
Thankyou Dr Natalia for writting this book !

5.0 out of 5 stars Objective overview of skin care
What I love about this book is the approach it takes to discuss skin care. It looks at the scientific literature and makes conclusions using only studies that are peer-reviewed and not funded by what it calls Big Skincare. So basically, any study that is funded by the company that created the skin care product is dismissed because of inherent biases that can occur. I mean, what company will report its $100 moisturizer does not "help reduce fine lines"?
What you get is straight forward and simple advice on what works and what doesn't when it comes to skin care. No need for over complicated skin care routines or expensive products. Keeping short, simple, and affordable goes a long way.
And there's plenty of discussion about skin care issues and the best way to address them. And again, the approach is to look at the scientific literature and see what true clinical studies say works best.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting - but true...?
Interesting reading, but the author basically says that no skin products really work. Many people have a different experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you feel overwhelmed and tired of the skincare industry this is the book for you!
Dr. Natalia has written this book in hopes of helping us see that great skin is due to consistency and not necessarily quantity! Not only she takes the pressure off but explains what and how things affect your skin and the solutions that have science to back them up! A reminder that less is more! Thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend 100%.

1.0 out of 5 stars What a waste of money I could've spent on good skincare!
She almost had me convinced with her constant bashing of literally any kind of skincare (masks, face rolling, serums etc) until she completely poo-pooed red light therapy. I have never seen such a dramatic and fast improvement in my skin as with that device and so have wuite a few of my aging fruends....she called it a "scam". Maybe she's salty bc she didn't invent it and profiting from it? Some of these game changing skin aging tricks and tools are remarkable and i know this first hand.. Stem cells and collagen have been well worth the money fpr me! but this book was a waste of time and money bc she lost all my confidence making blanket bogus claims.
