Simply Sensual: The Simply Series, Book 3 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 229 ratings

Do the job. Take the money and run. Until, in a flash, love changes everything.

In retrospect, Ben Callahan should have known this job was trouble.

Way more than his normal PI fee and unlimited expenses, just to watch over one woman and report back? Alarm bells should have sent him running back to New York. But with his mom needing assisted living care, Ben takes Emma Montgomery’s tempting offer to watch over her granddaughter.

Then he meets Grace, a golden-haired princess. Gifted, gorgeous, reckless. And a serious threat to his sanity as well as his libido.

Determined to prove she can support herself with her camera, Grace Montgomery hasn’t touched her trust fund in months. It’s a struggle, but she’s free - free of stifling small-town society, free to do what she wants. And right now, she wants to explore her long-repressed sexuality with her hot new neighbor.

As Grace sheds her inhibitions faster than a high-speed shutter, Ben finds himself breaking his own rules for a woman full of unexpected secrets and thousand-watt sensuality. But when Grace discovers who’s signing Ben’s paycheck, her heart could be too broken for his love to repair.

I adore Ben and Grace’s story. I respected Grace for needing to get away from the family name and money and making her own way. Ben was attracted from the first time he saw her picture. I love Emma Montgomery and all of her meddling. Grace forgave quickly, which they should both be thankful for. The heat is explosive.

This was an enjoyable read. On the surface, Ben and Grace seem like an unlikely couple, but they actually complement each other despite two VERY different backgrounds. And their chemistry is explosive!

Grace Montgomery has decided to stop withdrawing money from her trust fund and start living free of the strings that come attached. She’s all alone in New York City, making a modest living as a photographer, and using her spare time to work with a children’s charity to help the less fortunate. Grace has also stopped answering not only her brother’s, Logan who we met in Simply Scandalous, calls, but her tenacious Grandmother Emma’s calls.

Emma is the one person in Grace and Logan’s lives that gave them love when they were growing up. So to have Grace not answering or returning any of Emma’s calls just won’t do. Emma hires P.I. Ben Callahan to watch over Grace. Ben’s a private investigator, not a glorified babysitter, but one look at Grace’s photo makes it hard to say no. Not to mention the money Emma’s offering will set Ben’s mother up in an assisted living facility that would take Ben another year or two of cases to be able to make happen. Emma’s even gone so far as to pay rent on the condo across the hall from Grace to make it seem that Ben’s just a new neighbor.

Ben keeps reminding himself that Grace is just another case and that he needs to keep his hands to himself. But Grace is making that a challenge for him. She’s pushing all the right buttons. After a particularly nasty run-in with an older brother of one of the kids Grace shoots pictures of for the charity, it’s left Grace shaken and Ben overly protective. Feelings flair and Ben just loses himself in the moment. Grace understands that this is just a short affair, but her heart gets involved. Ben, who knows he crosses a line, also realizes he not only needs, but wants, Grace in his life.

Is Grace going to be able to forgive him when she learns that her own grandmother hired him to watch over her and report back? Will she be able to forgive her own grandmother, who really only had the best of intentions? Especially with the shenanigans that Emma pulled on Logan and Catherine. Will Grace get out of her own way and realize that Ben does actually want to be with her, this version of Grace, not the one with the trust fund? There’s a lot to unpack here but Carly Phillips does it all so seamlessly.

Character descriptions are good...I felt I could really see the characters. Unlike many Harlequins, it wasn't too short. BUT, like most Harlequins, the plot is predictable. What keeps it from being totally boring is that the primary characters do have depth. Overall, sexy, sensual, predictable, easy read.

I really enjoyed reading this story. I loved the characters and the story line. I HIGHLY recommend this read.
Grace Montgomery is from an extremely wealthy family. Unfortunately, her parents only cared about money and social status, not their children. Luckily for Grace and her brother Logan, their grandmother Emma raised them. Emma raised them to be strong and independent.
Since Grace is now of age she decided to move far away from her parents, especially her father the judge. She lives off her trust fund for a little while but then decides to prove to her parents and herself that she can do it on her own and not need her parents financially.
Ben is a private investigator that was hired by Emma to give her information on how Grace is doing and to make sure she is safe. Ben only took this job because Emma was paying him enough money from this one job to be able to put his blind mother into a nice, assisted living facility.
Grace is unaware that her new sexy neighbor is the man her grandmother hired to keep an eye on her. Ben is shocked to see that the beautiful woman from the picture is even more breathtaking in person.
As much as Ben tries to keep his distance from Grace the more seductive Grace gets. After all, she’s a woman that knows what she wants, and in this case, it happens to be Ben.
When Ben decides to give in to the attraction and temptation, he figures he can get his fill and get out. Never once did his plan involve falling for his “job”.
Grace is happy to finally get Ben exactly where she wants him, in her bed. But will she feel the same once she finds out the man she fell in love with was hired by her grandmother to check in on her? Will she believe him when he tries to tell her he has fallen in love with her? Will Grace ever be able to forgive Ben so they can have a future together?
