ONE MAN CRUSADE The police face an extraordinary problem. Somebody has started shooting unsuspecting citizens dead as they go about their daily business in the north west of England. But it is a very specific type of person that the gun man is targeting. Paedophiles.

In order to keep the public calm, the police have no alternative but to reveal the killer's motive. And that's when things start to get really tricky for the investigating officers. Public revulsion of child molesters is at an all time high, so when the killer is hailed as a hero vigilante by the media - DCI Andrew Miller and his team face the ultimate challenge in catching a man who is determined to continue with his executions, until he is caught.

PLEASE NOTE: This book contains swearing throughout. (Including the worst one.) IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS BOOK IS NOT SUITABLE FOR ANY PERSON WHO IS SYMPATHETIC TO PAEDOPHILES OR ANY PERSON WHO CAN CONDONE CHILD SEX ABUSE.

MORE about this book; One Man Crusade has been an Amazon Best Seller in several categories, topping the Amazon UK Best Seller charts in Urban Fiction, Political Fiction, Political Drama, and Serial Killers. The novel is set in Greater Manchester, in the present day, with the entire city as the back-drop. Scenes take place in most areas, including Bolton, Tameside, Salford, Wythenshawe and Stockport. The child-sex scandals in Rochdale, along with the allegations against the late Rochdale MP Cyril Smith get mentioned, as well as the scandals surrounding other household names from around the region, as the novel tackles the British public's general attitude towards paedophiles in the post Jimmy Savile world. ONE MAN CRUSADE is described by most readers as a fast paced, exciting, thought-provoking story. Of course, not all people share the same opinions, and as such, not all readers agree with the gunman's campaign. But sod them. ONE MAN CRUSADE is the first DCI Miller book. Steven Suttie was born in Kirkcaldy, in Scotland and grew up in Manchester and now lives in rural Lancashire. Steven is married and has four grown-up children. He writes gripping, down-to-earth page-turners which are usually centred around a real-life topic which is dominating the news. This unique story-telling style enables Steven to write exciting, fast-paced crime thrillers whilst inadvertently exploring the themes behind some of Britain's biggest social problems.

Steven's best-selling book is a fast paced crime thriller called "One Man Crusade." Set in Manchester, this was the first of the DCI Andy Miller series and went on to become an Amazon UK best seller in several kindle categories. One Man Crusade is the story of a serial killer who has won the hearts and minds of the British public. This story has plenty of twists and turns which keep you reading for just "one more chapter." The story generated a great fondness for the DCI in charge of this investigation, which in turn led to Steven writing further "Miller Thrillers."

The second DCI Miller book was released in 2015, called "Neighbours From Hell." This is a funny, tragic and exciting story centred around the social class divides in Great Britain today.

Miller 3 "Road To Nowhere" came out in 2016, and is described by readers as an action packed, "unputdownable" thriller which looks at abuse-of-power in the police force.

Miller 4 "Gone Too Far" is another gritty thriller, released in 2017. In it, Britain's most obnoxious celebrity Kathy Hopkirk has been reported missing and DCI Andy Miller has to try and find out what has happened to her.

Miller 5 "The Final Cut" is a crime thriller which looks into the murky waters of modern politics and the present government's attitudes towards the poorest people in society.

Miller 6 "Proof of Life" was published in 2018 and explores the reality of the impact of ADHD on school teachers and the children who try their best to cope with the disorder.

Miller 7 "Nothing To Lose was published in January 2019. In this story, the disturbing realities of gambling addiction are put under the spotlight.

Miller 8 "Twisting the Truth" is the latest past-paced, action packed Miller adventure!

A stand-alone "PC Miller" story was released in summer 2019. Set over the course of one day, 23 years earlier, we meet a young Andy Miller, a PC on duty on the day that the IRA destroyed Manchester city centre. This title is called "Miracle on Corporation Street" and relives that fateful day in Manchester's history, moment by moment.

Someone is killing paedophiles in Manchester. No great loss to society one might think, and in the context of this story you’d be right. It takes a while for the police to make the connection that the victims are all paedophiles and once they do they realise that catching him is not going to be easy. When the killer becomes a media celebrity, stirring up public feeling and speaking out against the authorities and their ineffective punishments for, and monitoring of, paedophile activities they realise that things will be harder still.

DCI Andrew Miller is the youngest of his rank in recent history, but he soon learns that higher ranks are doing their level best to prevent him catching this killer, citing the old chestnut of budget cuts etc. Fuelled by his anger, Miller continues to investigate.

Steven Suttie has penned a really explosive novel that goes deep into the nitty-gritty of police station politics and probes the depths of the emotive effective of crime on the general public. Few police procedurals ever go that deep. He tells the story with evocative prose and dialogue so that you can feel the emotion rising off the page. Suttie’s characterisation is also vivid and explores both working and personal relationships with a depth and sensitivity rare in this kind of fiction.

This book is a must for fans of Manchester-based crime fiction. For authors of the same, this book is a warning. This is good writing, crime fiction at its best and you could learn a lot from it. I am already reading the second DCI Miller book.

Firstly I have to say Hats Off to Steven Suttie for tackling an emotive and politically controversial subject in a unique way. The plotline of One Man Crusade is very good, in my humble opinion, however I do feel that Steven needed to employ a good editor to polish his work before publishing. I see that there are other books available in this series and I do hope that they are edited more proficiently. I will certainly be reading the second one as the storyline of this one leads me to believe that this author really has something to offer.

Along with his workmates Ian takes a cigarette break during the night shift but before the break is over he is shot dead. No-one has seen what happened. DCI Miller is called in to investigate and is soon able to relate it to another death in Sheffield the same night. DCI Miller has a serial killer on his hands. He is already short-handed, three of his team are on sick or maternity leave and it is soon clear that no extra help is being offered - no extra help because no-one wants this killer caught. A press briefing is called and Miller agrees this with his superior DCS Dixon - only to have the script changed minutes before the briefing starts. The briefing is a disaster, information about the killer is given out which will only hinder the investigation. Soon the killer is making live calls to the Sky News, which is running the story all day. Miller goes to see DI Karen Ellis, on maternity leave, and she is keen to get back to work immediately to help. With more and more killings taking place, no forensic evidence and a complete refusal from DCS Dixon to provide more help, Miller resigns. Karen Ellis takes over. Will she be able to catch this killer, will anyone come forward with vital evidence, will anyone want to? This is a great novel, with finely drawn characters, intricate twists and turns and a highly unusual ending. You may need a big box of tissues with this one. the serial k

I currently police the areas described in this book, specifically Denton, Ashton u Lyne, Dukinfield, Stalybridge and Mossley so from a novelty point of view I quite enjoyed reading about familiar locations and settings however if you want accurate or even realistic Policing procedure, then this is not the book for you.
In my opinion, there is a tendency with lazy authors to portray the police in a clichéd manner and sadly this writer follows the trend. Unimaginatively the protagonists in this book are the usual high flying, ambitious, plain clothed rebellious hero types who apparently everybody wants to emulate (or sleep with). Meanwhile, the uniformed officers haven't a clue what to do at the scene of a shooting and flap around uselessly until the heroes attend and give their instructions? I understand the temptation to portray the Police in this way (it's how it's done on TV after all) but the reality is very different and even basic research would reveal glaring errors to the author. I'm probably a little sensitive to the subject and therefore over critical but I think even someone not connected to policing would find it unrealistic. Response officers in Manchester don't know what to do at the scene of a shooting....really?
The story itself is okay but is a little over simplified to the point where it almost reads like a short story, where we rattle through the plot without bothering with too much detail. Murder is a difficult thing to do and moreover get away with. The killer in this book seems to be able to kill at will, leave no clues and melt into the surroundings like a ninja. When a suspect is eventually identified an intricate plot is hatched to bring him to justice which involves everything but arresting him....again, really? It's all a bit far fetched for my taste but I stuck with it and, on balance, it was worth the read.

This book was GREAT! I loved it! I love the characters! (Especially Pop!) I rooted for him from beginning to end! Oh, and if you haven't read Neighbours From Hell, make sure you do! I've read that one twice already! If you love crazy characters and lots of laughs, you'll be glad you did! I hope Mr. Suttie comes out with another book soon. I'll be reading every single one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Außergewöhnlich gute Reihe
Reviewed in Germany on 27 September 2017
Extrem gut, realistisch, absolut empfehlenswert!

4.0 out of 5 stars Quite enjoyable
Reviewed in Australia on 28 August 2017
Definitely a book with a twist. I must say at the outset, that I found the book quite enjoyable, but, I'm not sure about the format of this first book in the series - or the need for some of the strongest language. I don't think that some of the language was necessary or added anything to the story, whilst other parts of the story just seemed "normal" with the use of the language.
I have finished the book with a feeling of confusion because it just hasn't been completed the way I would have thought it should have been. I just felt that the last chapter need not have even been written...an odd ending.
