Not Right Now (Time to Wake Book 2) Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 54 ratings

Book two of the Time to Wake series unravels the deep history between the characters while taking readers further into the lore and world of the Nephilim, with our favorite snarky caffeine-addict leading the way.

Warning: The below description contains spoilers for book one, "Time to Wake".

Senlis is trying to kick up her feet and enjoy her freedom in this lifetime. Unfortunately, the confrontation with Jonah left her relationship with Vincent strained and has her memories seeping to the surface. As she fights to wake her powers, Senlis must now navigate through her past and come to terms with what it's teaching her about herself and her ties to both Jonah and Hunter. If that wasn't enough, Benny is being difficult about Hunter sticking around, and she's not about to give in to his tantrums. Trying to draw a truce between the two of them may prove to be an impossible challenge.

A sudden event sends Senlis and her group of friends on a chase to find a way to bring Benny back to life. Can Senlis save Benny, find herself, and maintain her composure as her relationship heats up with Hunter?

Readers' Favorite 5 Star
The second installment in a series is probably the most difficult one to pitch to your readers. You've proven that the concept works enough for a story, but now you need to prove that the characters you created and already pushed to their limit once have more room for development and growth. K. Thomas, however, rises to the challenge exceptionally, taking Senlis, Benny, and Hunter and continuing their journey by pushing them into new and exciting situations which show different sides to their characters and create a fascinating growth beyond the already fleshed out individuals we met in the first book.
Not Right Now is a masterclass in growing the world of the series in a manner that constantly adds and improves on the material in the first book without ever contradicting or overcomplicating the world. It is an excellent piece of paranormal fiction that I would happily recommend to any fans of the genre.

I have been excitedly waiting for this book to come out. Book 1, Time to Wake, is one of my favorites! Now having read Book 2, THIS one is also now a favorite! The story is unique and interesting as well as exciting and adventurous. Senlis, Hunter, and Benny have captured my heart, they are well developed characters that you relate to and feel they could easily be your friends. The rest of the characters are equally as wonderful and intriguing. This is a world that feels very real, yet there are magical and mysterious events taking place keeping me captivated and in suspense. The story has many layers to peel away and figure out, which I love! It has murder, ghosts, love, thrills, chills, friendship, and so much more! It picks up where the book 1 left off, and wastes no time hooking you. I read this so fast, I just COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! The author does such a fantastic job in creating this world and even better in the development of the fantastic people you grow to adore. If you like paranormal, with a touch of magic and romance with a lot of adventure and fun.... then this is a must read! I own ebook, soft cover and audio book of the first book, I will be doing the same with this one, it's just THAT good.

Not Right Now is the continuation of the book Time to Wake, a saga written by K. Thomas where the audience meets Senlis, the heroine of the story. In this book, Senlis will struggle between her heart and her brain. She will have more information yet keep searching in her past to understand her present and her relationships in this lifetime. I loved this book, I found Senlis to be such a breath of fresh air; a female that tries to keep it all together while saving her loved ones and trying to know herself better. This is such a big issue nowadays with women in general that to me it was pretty easy to relate to her. The story overall is very interesting and the characters are good.
I am very happy I came across this saga, it has a little bit of fantasy but a very believable world that took me of guard and now I am completely in love with it. Highly recommended!

Okay, so this was amazing. I don't want to plot-spoil since this is book two, so I'm going to try to stay vague. The character dynamics in this book were totally ramped up from the first book. It's like Krys hooked them all up to amplifiers and then dosed them liberally with caffeine--except, I mean that in a good way and that there was tons of emotion and tension. Look, I words good, okay? The flashback/memories that Sen has were great. I loved those glimpses where I had to guess what sort of historical timeframe I might be looking at. Will was a joy. Benny remains an absolute favorite.
I NEED BOOK THREE. I have so many questions and I want so much more page-time with these characters that have become close friends to me.

I was so impressed with the first part of this plot that I immediately bought the second one as soon as it got launched and I have to admit it did reach up to my expectations. Author J.K. Thomas has written the characters of the book with so many details that all the interactions and monologs seem real. The protagonist, Senlis's character, grows exponentially in the second part and the whole chase sequence to bring another character, Benny, back to life has been written in an excellent manner.

The whole blend of romance and murder comes up so well that I remained hooked to the book till the end. The book is a full package of thrill, suspense, and romance. It is a must one for those who enjoy reading quality fiction.

I loved book 1, and I love this one too. I can't wait to read book 3 when it's released. I absolutely love all the characters. More than anything else, the author creates memorable and realistic characters. The plot is interesting too. She ties in mythology from the past into the Nephilim. Vampires, gods, angels, demons, her version of the Nephilim explain it all.

This second installment in the series is very good. Not Right Now is a book that hooked me from the very beginning. The author has a great ability to create the scenes and places where we have never been before and make us feel we already know them.
Character portrayal is something to highlight in this book. I really liked how they were shown and how they interact, too. I believe this book is a must read. I have enjoyed it immensely from beginning to end! Time to Wake and Not Right Now are books that I really recommend reading.

In the second supernatural thriller in K. Thomas’ Time To Wake series, the gloves come off and the sparring of the first book becomes a full fledged battle. Senlis and her friends are back, trying to stay one step ahead of a story that’s been repeatedly pushed on her.
Once again, though the action is rapt and intriguing, it is the characters of a motley crew of friends who steal the show. Senlis stays true to herself, but at what cost? Not Right Now is riveting and by far breaks the trope that the first book is the best.
I highly recommend this series by an author who infuses her imagination into a reality driven story.

Not Right Now picks up where Time to Wake leaves off and keeps the plot moving at a delightful pace. All of the old characters are back, and it was fun seeing them develop throughout the story. Benny remains my favorite, although Vincent is a close second. Will definitely be continuing the series as soon as there's more to read.

This was a superb follow-up to Time to Wake! It included all the things I enjoyed about the first book (unique lore, snarky and witty dialogue, Benny) and expanded on them, making it even better. I loved learning more about the Nephilim and about Senlis’s past and her current situation and oh boy am I intrigued to see what happens next!

Time to Wake (Book 1) was always going to be a hard act to follow so it is perhaps understandable that I started reading "Not Right Now" with a certain degree of trepidation. I needn't have worried. The story once again grabs your attention right from the outset and doesn't let go for the entire book. I finally surfaced from those pages 5 hours later. It's an absolute roller coaster of a ride executed with wonderful flare (and no small amount of humour) This book without a doubt cements her place in the small exclusive pantheon of authors whose work I will read again and again and again.

Of course... Now I need to wait for book 3. Damnit.

This book did not disappoint. It was the perfect follow up to the first book and I loved reading every word. The characters just grew and I found myself desperate for more. The consistent humorous undertones kept me giggling to myself. I love it and I'm desperate to read more from this author.

I’ve been eagerly waiting to read this one. Not Right Now is the sequel to Time To Wake, a book I adored. The sequel did not let me down.

Lovely to jump straight back in with the characters, plus the introduction of a couple of new ones! I am in love with the blooming relationship between Hunter and Senlis and there are some beautifully written scenes. There’s a lot of Benny is this book too, and everybody I know who has read either book LOVES Benny!

I’ve also learned what a London Fog Latte is - who knew?! Not the UK apparently 😂

    A brilliant book!

After reading Time to Wake & being blown away, I’m not at all surprised to discover Not Right Now is even better. The sarcastic wit is ever so present & the character development is just wonderful to read - such a great dynamic! The plot is really well written, keeping me hooked from the very beginning to the very end, so much so I read the entire book in one go. There’s so much more to Senlis’s story than I could’ve possibly imagined. I loved it. I can’t wait for more!
