Jasmine and Jealousy (Port Danby Cozy Mystery Series Book 14) Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 415 ratings

It's a busy end of summer for Lacey Pinkerton and so much is happening Lacey can hardly keep up. Ryder returns but his arrival does not go as expected and Lacey finds herself smack in the center of a Lola driven bout of drama. On top of that there's a new detective in town. While Lacey's happy that Briggs will have more free time (especially if it's spent with her) she's not too sure about Detective Fairchild. And worse, it seems Detective Fairchild is not too sure about Lacey.

A taco truck arrives in town. The popular Taco Brothers run a smooth operation but the relationship between the siblings is anything but smooth. When one of the brothers winds up dead, Lacey is anxious to help investigate. But the new detective doesn't want her around. Of course that doesn't stop her from finding out who killed the Taco Brother. And in the midst of such a whirlwind week, Lacey finally gets a big break on the Hawksworth murder.

Will Lacey finally put together the pieces to solve the hundred-year-old murder mystery?

I have read all the books in this series. They are all really great cozy mysteries! This one was my favorite (I've said that about most of them-LOL)! I love how Ms. Lovett weaves the older mystery into the story and how Lacey meticulously went about solving it. The characters are great - I would love to be able to try Elsie's baked items!! I also love James and Lacey as a couple. Not many detectives want outsiders helping them, but James values Lacey's help and input and I really like that. All in all, a great book!! I am looking forward to the next one in the series and I hope Ms. Lovett continues with the series for a long time!

London Lovett's 14th Port Danby Cozy mystery was really good, and when I was finished I was amazed at the things that happened in this book between a lot of the characters; many changes!
It is the end of Summer and The Taco Brothers Food truck has pulled into Port Danby for two weeks. Everyone is lining up to eat tacos, Lacey and her detective boyfriend Briggs, included. Unfortunately they see a sign posted on the truck stating their food is better than Frankie's Diner in town where everybody usually eats. This gets to Frankie's ears and she comes to truck to tell them to take the sign down.

Unfortunately the two brothers who own the Taco truck do not get along and then mayhem and murder happen. In the meantime a new Detective comes to town to help Briggs and she makes her disdain for Lacey well known, after Lacey tells her when she was trying to apply CPR to the victim he was murdered, it wasn't an accidental death. The worst part is that she is Mayor Price's niece!

Lacey figures out the the murder and another murder she has been working on for a long time! There is a lot of angst and the murder case is going in the wrong direction with suspects. The best thing in this book is that Ryder comes back and Lola goes on a week long pity party!

I gave this book 5 stars and I think that I loved this one best! Although this book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend that you read all of the books in order! Here are the titles!

    1. Marigolds and Murder
    2. Carnations and Chaos
    3. Mistletoe and Murder
    4. Roses and Revenge
    5. Tulips and Trouble
    6. Dahlias and Death
    7. Peonies and Poison
    8. Hyacinths and Homicide
    9. Crocuses and Crime
    10. Sunflowers and Sabotage
    11. Lavender and Lies
    12. Freesias and Foul Play
    13. Cornflowers and Corpses
    14. Jasmine and Jealousy

When I see that a new Port Danby story is available in the series, I pre-order and stand "at the window", so to speak, waiting for the goody to be ready! The worst part about these delectable stories is that I can't restrain myself - I devour the book in one sitting. As cozy mysteries go, these are the cream of the crop. I loved Jasmine and Jealousy from the first page to the last page. And guess what? I can't wait for the next one!

I really enjoy this series. And Jasmine and Jealousy is the best, most satisfying adventure yet. You gotta love Lacey and her nose. And this installment ties up some dangling ends ... Lola and Ryder, the Hawksworth murder mystery, and the murder in this book. And James and Lacey are just do darn cute. And, of course, Kingston and Nevermore and Bear.
    What a fun read!!😊

I absolutely love your stories about the murders of Port Danny. I have recently just started reading murder mysteries. But I must say your series has kept me very intrigued, and keeps a smile on my face. Please keep writing them.

When I first saw this series was connected to her Firefly Junction series I had to read it! I finished this series in one week!! This is an awesome series that gives hints about the long ago mystery that's waiting to be solved while the main character solves current mysteries!! I highly recommend this series to any fan of a good mystery with a dash of romance and some funny characters!!

Things are never boring in Port Danby, are they? Ryder's back from his South American adventure which is GREAT for Lacey and her flower shop, but a misguided attempt at a prank already has Ryder and Lola on the outs. (Honestly, Lola is as dramatic as my mom's cat when he wants to go outside in the morning. There's a lot of yowling and dramatic flounces that are sort of entertaining to watch, but only for short periods of time.) Meanwhile, a new detective on the force means Briggs will have some actual downtime. Probably.

The problem? The first day Briggs has off in AGES has a dead body popping up and the new detective takes lead. Only, she's not convinced Lacey should be involved (even though it was Lacey who found the body - of course) and Lacey's 100% certain she SHOULD be involved. Which leads to a little bit of tension, as you might imagine.

Lacey being Lacey, she low-key investigates the current murder while also spending some of her downtime on the Hawksworth murders. AND BOY DOES SHE GET HER MONEY'S WORTH WITH THOSE INVESTIGATIONS.

Yep, there's a lot going on here. Which means there's a little danger (very little, for once) and a lot of sleuthing. Good stuff all around.

I love the Port Danby books, and this was one of the best. However does the resolution of the ongoing historical investigation at last mean there won't be any more?
