Product description
The team behind legendary Manchester club FAC 51 The Haçienda releases a full ‘Haçienda Classiçal’ album, following the unprecedented success of a series of national events throughout 2016. Haçienda Classiçal has seen Graeme Park and Mike Pickering, the original DJs behind the unique Haçienda sound, spin club classics in full harmony with the Manchester Camerata Orchestra. The resulting collision of seminal dance music and orchestral instrumentation has breathed new life into club anthems such as ‘Blue Monday’, ‘Voodoo Ray’, ‘Good Life’ and ‘Ride On Time’. Other tracks featured on the album include ‘Strings of Life’, ‘Move Your Body’ and a stunning new take on ‘You Got The Love’ with vocals from the AMC Choir and special guests.
The classical-meets-club concept was an instant success as many thousands immediately snapped up tickets to shows at London's Royal Albert Hall and Manchester's Bridgewater Hall, all selling out in minutes. With many requests for a recorded version of the concert, this studio album has been exec. produced by The Haçienda, Joy Division and New Order co-founder Peter Hook, together with producer Phil Murphy. The release of this innovative and eagerly anticipated album will allow fans to enjoy the Haçienda Classiçal experience as a recording for the very first time.
“Probably the best rave since 1997... A night of soaring synth riffs, euphoric drops & massive tunes.” NME
“The atmosphere was incredible” ***** The Times

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 11 September 2023Like this album. Some classic tracks done in a classical but complimentary way. Nice to listen to on a summers evening with a cold drink.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 22 October 2016Great accompaniment to the concerts
I went to a couple of the Hacienda Classical concerts earlier in the year and really enjoyed them so was happy to see this coming out. I've seen some of the other reviews and having put the album on today I can't say I shared their experience. Some tracks work better than others but that was the same at the concerts but the arrangements on the likes of Voodoo Ray, Pacific State, Ride On Time, You Don't Know Me, Rowetta's encore of "You Got The Love" and more are all great to hear.
If you enjoyed the concerts as I did, this is a good addition to have.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 January 2020Fantastic album full of absolute classics. I've seen Hacienda classical live and a lot of the tracks are in the live show. Highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 October 2021What beautiful rendition of classic Hacienda sounds…simply wonderful. Each to their own but why folk have to write paragraph upon paragraph of feedback is beyond me…if your a true Hacienda attendee no need to over geek it just kick back n chill

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 8 February 2018These orchestra renditions of classic house tracks are in fashion at the moment. They're being released everywhere and always have the best DJ's attached for credibility.
Onto this selection. It gets 5 stars for track selection. These are the best tracks I've ever heard selected for a small house music compilation. I've heard tracks here I haven't heard for ages including some of my favourites you never hear elsewhere. "Someday" is the one of them that has a famous piano riff that whatever song it's attached to becomes instantly memorable. "Sweet Harmony" is one of them.
Although the track listing is good the production is terrible. It sounds like every vocal is sung through a small box. It's like they're in a small room when the vocal is sung. It sounds terrible. There is no echo or reverb that you would normally hear that enhances the track. The "Love Can't Turn Around" was a joy to see on the track listing but sounded nothing like the original in a bad way. This is a small but important part of the recording which is missing and it makes a big difference.
Overall I would avoid this compilation and go for the Pete Tong Classic House which is also an orchestra led compilation. These albums are a great idea but this one is not one I will be listening to regularly after hearing the better, Pete Tong one, 3 stars,
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 24 October 2016Love this, has been on repeat all weekend. Made we want to be out partying like it was the early 90's. After listening to this and watching the TV programme that was aired on Ch4 I have booked tickets to see it live next year at the Royal Albert Hall.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 23 January 2022As expected a decent purchase .
