Four Girls and a Guy: Prequel to Girls in the City Series Kindle Edition
Alison Saint decided she couldn’t tolerate dorm life any longer and rented a two-bedroom apartment in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood. She’s invited three friends to share the space in this introduction to the Girls in the City series. Edwin shows up later when Laura moves out.
Edwin is just a random guy from school, but he soon falls in love with Alison who’s keeping a secret from her family, and once hers is out, he’ll be free to share his feelings. But he also has a secret he’s been carrying around since he was a teen.
Laura, a criminal justice major, makes ends meet by taking cash from the guys she dates. Then, she finally learns who her birth father is and moves to Manhattan after college graduation to search for him. How much will her life change when she discovers he is one of the wealthiest men in the country?
Joan has one goal after law school, and that’s to join the largest criminal defense firm in the Mid Atlantic as soon as she passes the bar. One misstep however, a deputy from the DA’s office in Philadelphia is in love with her and she’s worried being on opposite sides of the aisle might not be beneficial when it comes time to apply for that job. Will that be enough to stop her from falling for him?
Samantha Karas, medical student, works at the local Greek bakery part time and when the owner’s brother comes from the old country, the chemistry between her and the older man is sizzling. The problem; a one nightstand which occurred months before has the potential be a tinderbox.
Meet Alison Saint from the Saints of San Diego, Laura Long from Pam of Babylon, Samantha Karas from the Greektown Stories, and Joan Greenway from Bittersweets.
Come along as five friends graduating from college embark on the next crazy stage of love and life.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 19, 2021This story drew me in and reminded me of my college days. Secrets is what all of them have and it is the drama that keeps them glued together. Alison, Edwin, Laura, Joan and Samantha keeps this story exciting. This story will capture your heart and have you all caught up in their friendship and drama!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 19, 2020This was a great read with the characters that stem from some of her other books. I can't to read more about these characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2021Four Girls and A Guy is a prequel for Award-Winning, USA Today Bestseller Suzanne Jenkin’s great new series, Girls In the City.
This is the backstory of five students who become friends when they attend the University of Chicago where they share an apartment.
Each girl has secrets as they struggle with the highs and lows of life’s obstacles thrown their way. All want successful careers, although sometimes past mistakes and disappointing relationships get in the way.
As usual, Suzanne Jenkins has come up with a brand new intriguing series, unlike any others I’ve read. You won’t want to quit reading once you start.
This is an enticing peek at the unique problems each roommate will have to face. I can’t wait to see what happens in each story.
I’ve worked with Suzanne Jenkins in boxsets several times in the past, which is how I became a fan of her writing. This is my honest opinion after reading the book.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2021Four Girls (Alison, Laura, Joan, and Samantha) and a Guy (Edwin) and all the intrigues and innuendoes you can imagine as the outcome of their living in one apartment… Each of them has a character of its own, fears, and aspirations, and the situation is ripe for trouble! Reminded me a little about Three’s Company but take that to a higher degree... Even more than that I was reminded of the novels I read in Suzanne Jenkins’ Pam of Babylon series, where the abundance of female characters and the singular male figure that touches all their lives in different ways make for a richly textured story.
Five stars.
Disclosure: I first learned of Suzanne Jenkins work when both of us were invited to take part in the same multi-author set. Love her writing, been a fan for a long time.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2020Suzanne....how many ideas do you have in your head? What a novel approach. A little bit of your collective series all tied together. I enjoyed this book because it leads to more stories with people we already know. Looking forward to the rest of this series.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2021Not my normal thing but I gave it a try. Clunky clumsy writing, cliche-ridden language and stock characters. What really overwhelms is the lack of realism? These dimwitted girls at the University of Chicago? Laughable. Even worse, the author knows little about the University of Chicago. She cites majors that don't exist there. I could go on and on. I won't.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 4, 2020As always another winner by Suzanne Jenkins. The book reminded me of the tv show Friends. A quick fun read.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2024What a fun read! I enjoyed the trials and tribulations of these characters! Looking forward to reading another Suzanne Jenkins books.
