Getting too close could end their friendship…

Good old-fashioned heartbreak sent Grace running to Las Vegas for a new start. There, she has the support of a college buddy and her social group, which includes Logan…funny, sexy, protective Logan MacNeil. They’ve become close friends, but that’s all Grace is willing to offer. Logan’s a known player, and Grace has been hurt enough for one lifetime, thanks. Getting left at the altar will do that to a woman.

Being apart could end their lives…

Logan’s reputation is more than a little exaggerated, and he’s never cared. Until Grace. She’s worth risking his heart again, if he can convince the brave, independent woman he’s not the playboy he seems. Right now she needs a friend…and a protector. Someone has already targeted them both—twice. Logan suspects he gained an enemy for his part in his boss’s recent failed business deal. But until he’s sure, he’s keeping Grace close. Achingly, torturously close… And when things turn deadly, he’ll lay everything on the line to make her his.

Deadly Surrender by Katie Reus

Book 5 of the Serafina Casino Sin City series. Romantic suspense. Can be read as a stand-alone.
I loved that this couple were friends and already crushing on each other. One of my favorite troupes. That he wasn’t giving up and was sensitive enough to give her space to come to terms with their new relationship was very intuitive.

Without spoilers, this author does follow a pretty consistent pattern. I always want to yell at the couple that think everything is solved and then go about their regular lives. Stop! Here is still danger! But they never hear me and the twist takes them by surprise.
A favorite author of mine.

Excerpt:
“Logan’s gaze fell to her mouth and suddenly his expression was pure heat and hunger.
It took her off guard with its intensity. Heat blossomed inside her and she nearly jerked back in surprise when he leaned down and brushed his lips over hers. The kiss was far too fleeting, his lips grazing hers and leaving her burning up inside and wanting more as he pulled back. The place was completely inappropriate—she didn’t want to get run over by skaters—but she still wanted more.
She stared at him in surprise, nearly losing her balance. But he took her arm and they pushed off again. “Were your parents watching?” she murmured, wondering at the show of affection.
“No. You looked adorable and I wanted to kiss you.” He said it so matter-of-fact, as if of course that was why he’d done it.
Her cheeks heated up and she didn’t know how to respond at all, so she looked away, focusing on the ice in front of her and not falling. It was difficult when she felt as if he’d imprinted her with that simple kiss. They’d done a whole lot more than that a month ago, but that kiss had felt…so intimate.”

Logan is a good mix of a flirty, alpha male who also focuses 100% of his attention on the heroine. While he is described as a big flirt, you see him only flirting with the heroine and not other woman in this book. That's pretty important for me. I like when the hero only sees the heroine.

He has a playboy reputation that followed after him long after he stopped, that causes him a bit of trouble getting Grace to give him a chance. Part of that is Grace's past experience with her ex-fiance. She is gun shy after what her ex did to her and it's completely understandable. It was a good way to show how tenacious Logan was to claim her.

The suspense was good and brought these two together faster than I think they would have been without the trouble that came their way. We also got to see some really great side characters. I have not read the books before this one. Seeing these other couples makes me really want to go grab those books up. Great read!

Yummy brother Logan's turn to find his HEA. Grace has been in his group of friends for a while, but he's finally ready to make a move. Then we have a bad guy gunning for him or is it her. Lots of running around and hiding in beds.

I wouldn't mind one more book in this series with Detective Hurley. He sounds really yummy.

3.5 - "Every day with you is special…" Stars!

We return to the The Seraphina: Sin City series with Logan and Grace’s story, both single and lusting after the other. But one is unwilling to risk their friendship while the other is not 100% sure how to move things to the next level.

Ultimately, an unknown enemy pushes Logan into protective alpha mode, and Grace quickly realises that he wants a lot more than friendship too. He now has the job of keeping her safe, whilst trying to convince her he is looking for a long-term commitment and not just a one-night-stand.

When she was with him, all her insecurities seemed to fade away and she could be herself.

A quick easy read, with a little of everything in it, romance, action, suspense, some sweet & sexy-times as well as plenty of interactions with previous characters in the series, and can definitely can be read as a standalone without any struggle.

Deadly Surrender by Katie Reus is the 5th book in the Sin City series. It is the story of Logan and Grace. These two have been friends for a while...both wanting it to be more. With Logan’s (marriage pushing) parents coming in to town for Christmas...he sees the opportunity to edge Grace into more, and to get his parents off his back. However, someone trying to kill one or both of them leads them to hiding out...together...alone, and could a horrible event be just the push they really need to give each other a chance…..

My thoughts:
Sorry ya’ll….im a little dizzy….this book made me twirl in circles when I was finished. Deadly Surrender released on April 7th… and if you haven’t picked it up...ORDER IT... then clear your calendar. It is captivating!! I normally don’t like romantic suspense, but Katie Reus was masterful @ making my heart pound @ both the danger and the romance!! Well done Katie...well done!! I’m now way behind on housework because I couldn’t put down your book...but you know whatever... lol...and just spent money on amazon ordering the other books in the series...damn your good!

Logan was yummy!! I loved both characters...their chemistry was off the charts, but what I really enjoyed was the humorous teasing banter between them! I really loved that he was the one that was for sure about wanting it to be more...so often it is the woman, and most of the book is the man coming to terms with finding love. The only reason this book is not getting a 5 from me is that...the ending was too abrupt!!!

I really loved this book. It was so refreshing to have a different take on a friends to lovers romance. I loved that the book started out with both of them crazy about each other but neither had any clue. Their chemistry was adorable and I just loved them as a couple. The one thing I will say is that Most of the story line revolves around the main characters Grace and Logan running from this treat, I was slightly disappointed by the reveal, I wish there had been more detail. But I truly enjoyed the book and it was a pleasure to read.

I absolutely LOVED everything about this. Friends-to-lovers can be a hard sale for me unless it’s done just right and this one was perfect in every way!

After Logan rescues Grace from an uncomfortable situation, they end up taking their friendship to a different level. But just for the night. They are friends and that’s how it will stay. Logan’s got a reputation as a player and Grace’s heart can’t take a chance of being broken again. But when a random shooting appears to be more than just random, they find themselves in even closer proximity and Logan is determined to change his friend status.

Grace was sweet and caring. She’s a bit wounded from a bad breakup as well as life in general. I loved that she trusted Logan and when the opportunity arose to make more of their relationship, she did so. She’s feisty, independent and smart when it comes time to save themselves from danger.

Logan has had a thing for Grace since he first met her. He’s just been biding his time until she has recovered from the pain her ex had put her through. But when he saw a chance to push her towards something more, he took it, determined to make her his and keep her forever. He’s fiercely possessive and even more protective with a touch of jealousy thrown in just to perfectly round him out.

’And as he nibbled on her bottom lip, he realized he didn’t want anyone else seeing them making out. Her kisses and moans and everything else were just for him.’

This has a thread of danger and drama running through it that keeps the plot constantly moving but not consuming the whole storyline. The chemistry between Logan and Grace is felt from the first moment they are together and it only sizzles all the more as the story continues. Logan was cute and witty which, added with some amazing secondary characters, helped to give this a lighter feel to it.

This was an amazing read that kept me turning pages from the beginning. I didn’t want to set it aside for even a moment. The perfect afternoon read!

Logan adores his woman's assets, "by now Grace was already sitting up in bed, tucking the sheet neatly around her perfect breasts. “You should never cover those up,” he murmured as he grabbed a pair of sneakers from the floor." I liked this book, I liked Logan.

Though this book struck a major high note with me in regards to Logan, the alpha protective good guy hero, Grace, the heroine rather ruined it for me. You see, he was determined to finally take their great friendship to the next level he’s patiently been wanting for a long time...love. But first, he has to convince this knucklehead, hand wringing, insecure, doubting Thomas woman to give him a chance. Yeah, I get she’s got emotional baggage from her ex-fiance, but from someone who claims to respect/think so highly of Logan, she made some low life assumptions. The guy deserved better and more credit, folks. I found him to be incredibly awesome. Heck, he’s even been celibate for quite a while before and after meeting Grace. So you know she had not seen him chasing after other women. He’s had time to already prove his good character. She should judge him on the man she knows him to be now, not based on rumors from his past. I found myself wondering why he thought she was so special. After all, she became the user here by accepting smexy between the sheets with him knowing she would be rejecting his heart in the long run.

The writing itself just didn’t quite measure up to what I normally expect of this author, either. Despite throwing in a couple, near miss, life-threatening situations, I was surprisingly bored. It just did not feel like a whole lot of effort or thought was put into regarding certain aspects, especially with the bad guy drama. Steam often replaced the lackluster plot/weak concept for a believable, evil bad guy scenario. Her “I’m not exciting/good enough for him” mantra got old.

Don't get me wrong. As usual, she gave us a totally awesome, protective hero I absolutely loved see get his leading lady love. His determination and willingness to put his heart on the line was sweet. The rest just didn't live up to my expectations.

The shirtless cover pretty much says it all. At least how Grace perceived Logan. He seems to be striking a Ken Barbie doll pose. Yeah, he's got a hot muscular body. How could we forget? Too often Grace went on and on about those muscles and how they could never be more than friends, because he’d dump her eventually. Her doubts, fears, insecurities became annoying. I wanted to tap her on the shoulder and tell her to get over herself and give love a chance.

For me, this book played out repetitive and robotic. Here’s to hoping others really enjoy it. I am normally a huge fan of this author. I certainly wish her continued writing success. This book seemed geared for those looking for a quick lusty/steamy read featuring a great alpha good guy and don't overly care about the rest being just an average read.

Title: Deadly Surrender, Series: The Serafina: Sina City (Book 5), Author: Katie Reus, Pages: 241, stand-alone but part of a series, very steamy scenes, alpha protective good guy hero, sweet/hand wringing/too insecure of herself heroine, ex-fiance makes a brief appearance, no OW/OM drama, no love triangle, romance safe, years before meeting the heroine he briefly was a manho.

Book 1 - First Surrender

DEADLY SURRENDER is the fifth instalment in Katie Reus’ contemporary, adult THE SERAFINA: SIN CITY erotic, romantic suspense series. This is security specialist Logan MacNeil, and school guidance counselor Grace Foster. DEADLY SURRENDER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Logan and Grace) DEADLY SURRENDER follows the friends to lovers relationship between security specialist Logan MacNeil, and school guidance counselor Grace Foster. Months earlier Grace Foster was heart broken when she found herself left at the altar. Starting over in Los Vegas, Grace will be introduced to security specialist Logan MacNeil, a man whose reputation as a ladies’ man is difficult for Grace to overcome but when her ex-fiancé arrives in Vegas with his new wife, Logan steps up in defence of our story line heroine. Meanwhile one of Logan’s last assignments has quite possibly followed him home, targeting our couple as they run for their lives. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Grace and Logan, and the potential fall-out when, at every attempt to secure safety, is met with an attempt on their lives.

The relationship between Grace and Logan is a friends to lovers that continues to build while on the run but Grace battles between head and heart fearing losing her best friend if their romance crashes and burns. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Graces ex fiancé Kevin. We are reintroduced to Logan’s twin brother Roman and his significant other Taylor (Dangerous Surrender 4), Angel and Vadim (Sweetest Surrender 3), Sierra and Hayden (First Surrender).

DEADLY SURRENDER is a story of betrayal and revenge, friendship and love. The premise is captivating and engaging; the romance is seductive and hot; the characters are determined and charismatic. DEADLY SURRENDER is a welcome return to the Serafina: Sin City.

I have read all the stories in the Sin City series and we finally are gifted with Logan and Grace's story. Yay! Logan, twin brother to Roman (remember Roman, Lol), finally after being friends with Grace, decides that he is going to let her know how he feels. Well, it sort of backfired, in a way. Suffice it to say, after believing they were moving forward, they went back a step. All I can say is that Grace, though protecting her heart, acted a bit foolish. I mean you have the hots for the guy,go for it. Logan was too good of a guy for her. I have to say I didn't like that part of the story, and it did drag on for a bit. But as per Reus's style, action, suspense, hot lovemaking, makes for a great story. Filled with some of our past Sin City characters made for an enjoyable read. 3.5 stars.

What Comes Next!?!

Grace Foster found herself needing a new start after she got her heart broken by her ex-fiancé, Kevin who left her st the altar, one year ago. She headed to Las Vegas, where she had the support of her friend, Taylor ( DANGEROUS SURRENDER ) and many others which included Logan. The latter was sexy as sin but she wasn't in the mood to get her heart destroyed a second time. She was only willing to offer him her friendship, nothing more.

Logan MacNeil had a reputation of being a womanizer, he didn't care what people thought of him. Until Grace walked into his orbit one year ago, she was worth giving up everything for. But he knew she wasn't ready for anything but friendship at the moment.

He rescued her from an awkward run in with her ex, and what a safe it has been. Logan let the man beat himself up for being an idiot, the bond between the friends was starting to change and they both knew it. They took their attraction to another level, soon after Grace let her insecurities get the best of her. She wouldn't give him the chance to tell her that he wanted more with her.

Logan gave her the distance she needed, he went out of town on an assignment. Things didn't go as planned with the client, the man was an abusive prick who thought he could get away with doing what he did (you'll have to read the book to find out what it was ;) ). They missed each other despite staying connected with one another via text.

On his return, he asked her a huge favor, to be his fake girlfriend cause his parents were constantly asking him when he was going to settle downnow that his twin brother, Roman was married to Taylor. She accepted but as they played their charade, things became a reality.

When she found herself in danger, correction when both of them found themselves in peril thanks to someone targeting them. Whatever plans he had to woo her had to come second to him protecting her. He wasn't going to let anything happened to her, no matter what.

Turned out the culprit was someone unexpected. They got him and the newly lovebirds couldn't be happier to have that nightmare behind them. Logan and Grace got their well deserved HEA.

DEADLY SURRENDER is the fifth book in Katie Reus' THE SERAFINA: SIN CITY series. This was the first book I read in this series and I must say that it was fascinating, engaging and oh so irresistible. Wonderful job by Katie Reus! 5++++

DEADLY SURRENDER Book 5 in The Serafina Sin City Series By Katie Reus can be seen as a standalone book in this well loved series. This is Logan MacNeil and Grace Foster's story.
What's great about them is they are already friends and have secret crushes on one another. Which is my favorite trope - friends to lovers. And boy, do Grace and Logan have a great friendship but Grace doesn't want to risk losing her friendship with Logan if he doesn't feel the same about her.
Grace has just gotten out of a bad relationship and has moved to Vegas. She is trying to find herself after the dumpster fire that is her past. She really likes Logan but sees too much of her ex in him (playboy antics). What she doesn't realize is that's not true and she does not know the man behind the sexy mask he presents. During this, Grace's life is in jeopardy. It's a race against the clock, trying to find out who wants her dead and trying to prevent that.
I loved the chemistry that smoulders between Grace and Logan. The plot is Awesome!! The cast of characters made this story pop hawt! I enjoyed the emotions that just rolled out- angst, passion, feels, drama, suspense, intrigue, twists, turns , romance, heat, and love. Great addition to a wonderful series.

Grace thought she had her future planned out until she got dumped by her fiancé in the most humiliating and painful way possible. She has now relocated to Vegas and surrounded herself with a great group of friends which includes Logan.

Logan is the perfect combination of strength and sexy. He acknowledges that he a reputation with the ladies, but it is more a case of not finding the right one until he met Grace. He knows that she is still healing, and he is willing to wait patiently until she realizes they are destined to be more than friends.

When they find themselves in danger Logan is not only determined to keep Grace safe and find out who is behind the threats but to prove to her that he is the man that she can trust with both her heart and her life.

I enjoyed watching the relationship between Logan and Grace develop and there is a great balance between the suspense and romance aspects of the story.

Grace came to Las Vegas after her fiancée left at the altar. She wanted to start fresh and leave the past behind. Here she has friends who will support her. This is just what Grace needs! Logan MacNeil is glad to have her here but he wants to be more than her buddy. He hopes that he can have a serious relationship but I don't think either imagined that their time together would be spent trying to stay alive. Can they escape this vengeful killer? Katie Reus kept me on the edge of my seat as Grace and Logan try to survive. They can't catch a break as their adversary is relentless. I had to sigh at how protective Logan is. What a hero! Grace feels safe with him but I liked that she was strong in her own way. I was glad they had friends and coworkers at the Serafina Hotel to help them. I was glad to revisit Sin City. It's been way to long. This book was the perfect escape. I loved the nonstop action and the passionate romance. I needed a HEA.

DEADLY SURRENDER (The Serafina Sin City Book 5) By Katie Reus
I loved this visit back to the Serafina in Las Vegas. Deadly Surrender is the 5th book in this well written series. This friends to lovers romance is very addictive. Logan is gorgeous, swoon worthy, has a reputation for being a player, and is a member of Wyatt Christianson’s security team. Grace is a school guidance counselor who is building herself back after being left at the alter from her ex-fiance.
When an awkward encounter with her ex brings Logan racing to her rescue, their secret mutual interest is set on fire. One passionate, blazing hot encounter leaves Grace second guessing herself and Logan. When someone starts trying to kill them, Logan is using all his resources to find out who wants them dead. This story has everything, drama, intrigue, suspense, smokin’ hot chemistry and great well developed characters. This is a definite 5 star book.

I had listened to the audios of this series a while back and was thrilled to hear the author had decided to give us another story in the series.
This time the story belongs to Logan MacNeil and Grace Foster. If you are familiar with the series, Logan is Roman’s twin, whose story is told in Dangerous Surrender.
Grace, a HS counselor, recently moved after being left at the altar. In her circle of new friends, is Logan. Known as a womanizer, Grace is unaware he has feelings for her.
They had a one night stand but Grace is afraid to revisit it. She’s been left with a low self-esteem, and insecure not only after being left at the altar, but also from her childhood experiences.
When both their lives are put in danger, Logan is determined to keep Grace safe. Spending time together ignites the attraction. Will they survive the person trying to kill them? If so, will past experiences keep Grace from opening her heart to Logan?
This was another engaging, action packed story by this author. I did find it “softer” and the characters acting more like in their 20s instead of 30s, but it was still a very good addition to the series. Though we don’t spend much time at the Serafina, we do get to visit with some of the characters we came to love from previous stories.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

Deadly Surrender by Katie Reus is book 5 in The Serafina: Sin City Series. This is the story of Logan MacNeil and Grace Foster. I haven't yet read the previous book, so for me this was a standalone book.
Grace was left at the alter by her ex fiancé, Kevin. Grace decided to start a new life near her friends in Las Vegas. Logan knew that Grace was going to be his but he had to wait for her after her breakup. So he waited along with become her friend. Logan started to act on his desire for Grace and the sparks flew between them, but danger also became a constant threat. Enjoyed their story.

Safe, h was engaged, H had a playboy past that was from a long time ago, neither with others since meeting. Ok, if I'm going to be honest he was not the perfect guy. If he was perfect he wouldn't have gone from friends, to sleeping together. He even questioned himself whether or not she had too much to drink. He knew everyone thought he was a major player. He should have actually communicated with her, told her his feelings asked her out. But then there would be no conflict but it also made him a bit less in my eyes.

Deadly Surrender is a story of contrasts. Good vs evil and shades of gray. This is a bodyguard tale with a twist and thoroughly enjoyable. Everybody knows a guy like Logan. Gorgeous, always friendly, flirty and smiling but nobody takes him seriously. But he is dead set serious about making Grace his own. I really enjoyed this bodyguard to lovers story because who can resist Logan determined. I liked that he isn’t all powerful but he does his very best.

I think what made this book so much fun was the way Logan and Grace dealt with their attraction to each other. Logan was all, yes finally, she's mine, while Grace was more, what the hell did I do???? Getting them both on the same page took a bit, but was worth it. Of course it helped that they were forced together due to someone coming after one of them, just not sure which one.

I absolutely loved this book. I have been a fan of Katie Reus for years and this book shows why. Logan works security for Wyatt Christianson. Grace has moved to Las Vegas for a fresh start. When an enemy is out to get Logan, it puts not only him but Grace in danger as well. This is part of the Serafina Sin City series. I had so much fun catching up with some of the characters and learning Logan and Grace's story. Katie Reus really knows how to craft a good book.

This is book 5 in the Serafina series and while this could be read as a stand alone, I recommend that you read the previous books before reading this one so that you can meet these characters and understand all the different relationships. In this one we finally get Logan and Grace's story! Grace came to Vegas to have a fresh start after the way her ex left her. And when making a new group of friend's, she meet's Logan. And they become the best of friend's, even if she secretly daydreams about more with him. But she also believes that Logan is a player and she doesn't want to get hurt again. Especially when she knows that he could hold her whole heart. Logan's reputation is more than exaggerated. And he never really cared, until he met Grace. Now he is just trying to gain her trust and show her that he is more than his reputation. And that he wants her for the long haul. But when someone starts targeting them both, not only will he keep her safe but he will show her what they could have together if she could just take a chance.

I really liked this one! Logan is this stand up guy who yes likes to flirt. But he never takes things further that. He knows what he wants and works towards it, no matter what he has to do. I loved him! He is super protective but he is also loving and sweet. Grace has been through things that no woman should have to go through. And it definitely left it's scars on her. My only drawback with her was that she couldn't seem to see that Logan was different even though she is his "best friend". But once they figured out their issues? Beautiful couple and relationship! This one seemed to have everything-action, laughter, love, and truly caring people. Another great read!

I have been craving some hot romance lately and decided to pick this book up. Although there were good sex scenes overall this book was a huge disappointment for me. I know that it is a romance novel, so I shouldn't be expecting stellar writing, but I just can't overlook bad writing. A lot of sentences are weirdly structured, every time a new scene starts it feels a bit jarring and there is a constant repetition of phrases like "she rolled her hips" (I have no idea what that's supposed to mean) and "her ex had burned her so bad". Everyone in the book refers to heroine's ex boyfriend as "your ex" I mean it is fine once or twice but even the heroine is constantly referring to him as "my ex" in every sentence in her own mind. We know he is named Kevin then why not use is name? While reading the book I felt like I was reading second draft of the book and it still needed lots of revision.

Another problem is the protagonist's character. Although she has an interesting backstory (being dumped at the altar and her severed relationship with her mother) it is never explored properly. We are just told that she has issues but the author never tries to show us how deeply these past events has affected her. Instead the author chooses an easy way out and simply makes the protagonist say things like " I can't trust anyone after being burned so bad by my ex". I understand that Grace has issues but after a point it just seems so repetitive and she is basically saying the same things over and over again. There isn't any conflict to stop Grace from dating Logan and yet they keep on this stupid act of "Oh if only the other person liked me". From the very starting of the book Logan makes it pretty clear that the is interested in Grace but she is too busy thinking about "how she got burned by her ex so bad" (I don't think I'll forget this line anytime soon) that she claims to be oblivious of his feelings. Also, these two are supposed to be friends that meet regularly and have mutual friends, yet Grace doesn't know that Logan's playboy reputation is because of his past? He hasn't been dating anyone since he met her and she still thinks of him as a player. It doesn't make sense at all.

The subplot of them being attacked by an unknown person was what attracted me to this book but all the chase sequences are boring. In every incident they manage to escape with zero casualty and then assume the danger is over. Even the final scene where they come face to face with villain felt so anti climactic that I cursed myself for reading this book.
So, what is good about this book? Only one thing, the love interest Logan. He is the least problematic guy I have come across in the contemporary romance novels/ chick lit. He is the right mix of alpha male and sensitive guy. Readers can see that he respects Grace because he gives her space and lets her make her own decisions even when he knows better. Everything other than Logan needs improvements. Logan has his flaws too but that makes him more real.

Final verdict: Read this book if you don't care about character development and don't mind skipping repetitive conversations. Don't pick up if you want a compelling plot and/or like reading well written dialogues. If you want to see healthy relationship and want to read about an attractive guy who also happens to be not a jerk then this book will make you happy. Also there are fairly good sex scenes and if you are interested in that you can just skip to them because there isn't much sexual tension in preceding scenes that make the scenes more poweful.

Deadly Surrender is a romantic suspense novel by Katie Reus. It has a friends to lovers storyline with an underlying threat plot line providing the suspense element that acts as the catalyst that brings the hero and heroine together. Grace and Logan met when she moved to Las Vegas after being left standing at the altar. Logan was part of the group of friends that ‘adopted’ her and was attracted to Grace right from the start even though he knew he’d have to play the long game and wait for her to get over the pain of being jilted. While Grace does like him he does have a reputation as a player making her wary of being hurt again but also she’s afraid of losing his friendship if something was to happen between them. When an incident happens on his job that has deadly repercussions for Grace, Logan doesn’t hesitate to make his move.

The romantic suspense genre is one of my favourites and while at first I wasn’t too sure about the friends to lovers element – I usually prefer more discord between the characters before they reach their happily ever after –it worked for me in this book. The characters were comfortable with each other so despite the fact that they were both hiding the depths of their feelings from the other. The plot did feel slightly rushed at the end with who the villain was coming a little out of left field. Perhaps if there was more of a build up to who it was and more explanation of his rationale behind it. As it was it just seemed a lot happened ‘off screen’ so to speak which the reader learns about third party and just left me feeling a little disappointed even though I did ultimately enjoy this book but that was more down to how the author writes rather than the plot

While this is the fifth book in the Serafina Casino Sin City series it can easily be read as a standalone without spoiling your enjoyment of any of the other books in the series.

Happy book birthday! There are so many amazing new releases today! I’m kind of new to the whole romance genre, so I was really excited to check out romance suspense! I mean it’s pretty much exactly what it sounds like but I absolutely enjoyed it! I’m also not typically a huge friends to lovers trope lover, but I’ve read two lately and now I’m thinking that maybe I need to reconsider how I feel about that. Because dang was this book steamy and amazing! The chemistry was so on point and there was all of my beloved angst.

But this book was just so good! I loved all of the characters and the dialogue was so witty! I find that lately I’ve been able to better focus on romance books than any other genre. They just take my mind off of everything for a moment and I can just sit back and relax a bit. I also love the slice of life that they can bring, even if there is extra drama. That extra-ness just makes it all the more fun!

But yeah, this book is good! PLUS it’s a part of a series so there’s just all that much more for you to devour and love! It’s got it all though chemistry, drama, romance, suspense, and more! You’ll just have to read it to find out the more!

You can view my full review on my blog! I also post about a lot of different types of books!

Grace has been burnt by love in the past, not only after being jilted at the altar but even growing up her mother was not the most loving. She struggles to accept that someone might actually want her. That hasn't stopped her from being attracted to Logan. He has a reputation as a bit of a player, (although to be honest, although Grace mentions it, there is no other evidence of that being the case in this book. This is the first in the series that I have read, so perhaps he has been more of a player in previous titles). It's obvious to everyone else how Logan feels about Grace, but she is reluctant to get too close and be hurt again.
Logan is very sweet. He clearly really likes Grace and wants a future for her. In fact, if it weren't for the suspense element to this storyline, I suspect this would be a very quick read as he soon makes it clear what he wants and isn't going to stop until he gets it.
This was a good romantic read. A good mix of heat and love with characters that work well together. It also has a suspense element, which fits well with the storyline and is not distracting or almost as an afterthought as sometimes happens in romance books. I enjoyed this and would be keen to read others from the same series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
