I Married A Birdman (Prime Mating Agency) Kindle Edition
Luana’s colony is under threat of an impending attack. As the sole child of their grievously wounded leader, she seeks aid from the only other native species on the planet. Consenting to a marriage of convenience with one of the Zelconians, a peaceful bird-like race, would secure the protection her village desperately needs. As much as that prospect terrifies her, Luana cannot deny being intrigued by the hybrid she is to marry, with his strange eyes full of stars, his majestic wings, and his hypnotic voice.
Dakas is shocked when his soul clamors for Luana the moment she enters their Council chamber. Who would have thought the brewing war would have finally allowed him to find his soulmate? Her delicate and demure appearance cannot fool his empathic abilities. Dakas senses the fire and strength burning within Luana. He’s more than eager to take the human as his mate to serve both of their peoples’ best interests. But he wants more than to protect her village; he wants to conquer her heart.
Can Luana embrace their union despite the circumstances, or will the war destroy any chances they had of a future together?

- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2023“Sweet and quirky” is part of the tagline for this series and I couldn’t have picked a better descriptor, especially for this particular story. I absolutely adore how doting and thoughtful the all of males Regine has created are but Dakas is next level sweet. He’s steadfast in his determination to make his mate happy, he’s kind & compassionate, soft spoken but not a push over by any means. He’s honestly the antithesis of toxic masculinity — Dakas behaves like how most non-men wish men would act. Anyway. I really liked him and I really liked his mate match, she was smart and savvy, so so brave and compassionate, and she genuinely wanted things to work even if she didn’t have the soul mate basis that he did. I love reading these monster/alien stories where the FMC doesn’t him and haw about the attraction to the MMC, I especially love when they dive in head first, which is more or less what she does. She promises to keep an open mind and then follows through. They make an incredible couple.
The background plot (because let’s be real, we’re reading these for the romance not the interplanetary war lol) was intriguing and I find myself wishing we had more time with Kayog because I do sometimes feel like I’m missing huge amounts of background info. I also did find a new hard line for monster/alien romance lmao I am so not on board with crops 😂
All in all this is a fun, fluffy read that it hits all the right notes for me. It might be too “wish fulfillment” for some but it’s exactly what I needed right now. Let me live in this hella fantasy world with sexy monster men that worship the ground women walk on — we freakin deserve it!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2022Regine Abel produces yet another gripping story of political intrigue and interplanetary romance with I Married a Birdman. For those intent on reading the whole of the Prime Mating Agency series, this is a good pick before I Married a Minotaur.
Compared to the previous two books in this series, I found the heroine to have less of a uniquely utilized skill set. She is a doctor, but she could have been anything and the plot could have gone the same. In fact, it felt more like she was a political figure more than a medical one. That is fine! This is still a great story. Abel’s only mistake has been writing such unique and strongly written FMCs by comparison in this series.
It would not surprise me if more creative energy went into the world building for this book. I do truly find this world of avian empaths to be creative. The MMC is capable of inducing the FMC into a hypnotic state during one spicy scene, which was a hell of a read. I don’t think I could write something both so dreamy and vivid. Additionally, the characters inhabit a multi-species world that has such potential for deeper political intrigue and story growth, I wasn’t surprised as soon as Abel introduced the Minotaur/Orc species as far more than just some cursory antagonists.
I’m looking forward to picking up I Married a Minotaur soon.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 30, 2025It’s very easy to like this couple. There are funny moments like with his wings in the shower. There are tender moments like with her father. There are exciting moments with the battles. I loved it!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2024I enjoyed the romance of Luana and Dakas. They were a match made in heaven. I also like that it was insta-love. It was believable watching them fall in love. I also enjoyed the main female character being a Latina. I love seeing realistic people of color in Regine’s books. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 17, 2022Of all the 4 I’ve read from the series, (out of order, mind you), this one wasn’t my favorite. It was ok, it followed the same themes as the other books in the series, but… meh. I figured out how to verbalize the structure of these Prime Mating books. They’re all low angst, low stress. But they’re still so interesting. At first I wanted to say the books contained no conflict. But what it really is, is that the conflict is very external to the romance between the main characters. Like it doesn’t take over the whole story, the conflict runs parallel to the emotional buildup of the HEA. This story actually had more conflict than any of the others. The conflict marbled the relationship between the main characters rather than running mildly in the background. But it wasn’t too much, the story was still relatively chill. Just not my favorite in the series. I would recommend this book if you’re reading the entire series. I would recommend you start with a different book if this is just a random, stand alone browse. The best one so far (IMO), is “I married a lizardman”. Or “I married a Naga”. That one was good, too.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 29, 2024I absolutely love this series and each one just keeps getting better. To help her people Luana agrees to marry hybrid Dakas.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 29, 2024Very, very fluffy. Very little spice, and with the last one being so descriptive, I hoped this one would be as well. Their first time was through the male's perspective, which almost always dampens things, and it felt very rushed. I believe there was only two scenes that were even described at all. But, the romance was wonderful.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2024She's on her way to ask for help and meets her mate. Although she's not aware of it but he knows she is!
They have to work together and mate together to shell create their passage passing to for a unique liveable harmony.
Loved th whole story!!

I liked the universe of this plot but didn’t like the history completely. It seemed kind of cold. I’m not a fan of cruelty and indifference

5.0 out of 5 stars Luana and Dakas
Luana lives in a human community on the planet Cibbos. But as the Yurus declare war, they need the help of the Zelconians. But this is only possible, if she marries Dakas, a birdlike hybrid, they can form an alliance. Luckily Dakas senses at once, that Luana is his soulmate ......
I loved to read the book. There is a beautiful world building. The storyline contains love, action, suspense and adventure. The characters are patient, empathic, resourceful and strong. I highly recommend this book and look forward to the next installment in this series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved it
This is very cute, very sweet, low angst, very insta-lovey, and a little humorous at times. It's not my favourite of the series; everything seems to just go too smoothly, and I needed just a little more. Every issue they face just gets resolved easily, and they adore each other from the beginning. Apparently, I'm not the biggest fan when everything just goes perfectly. 😅
The MMC does provide some rather hilarious moments when trying to fit in a human shower, though. That really tickled me.
Overall, it was cute, and I still really enjoyed it.
