You've Got My Number: Warm your heart this winter with this uplifting and deliciously romantic story! Kindle Edition
Three isn’t always a magic number … There are three reasons Tess Fenton should be happy. One, her job at the Blue Olive deli is dull, but at least she gets to work with her best friend. Two, she lives in a cosy cottage in the pretty village of Halston. Three, she’s in love with her boyfriend, Blake. Isn’t she? Because, despite their history, Blake continues to be the puzzle piece in Tess’s life that doesn’t quite fit. And when she meets intriguing local artist Daniel Cavanagh, it soon becomes apparent that, for Tess, love isn’t as easy as one, two, three …

About the author
Hi, I'm Angela and welcome to my author page. I was born in London but grew up in Nottingham, and although I've lived in Saudi Arabia and France, England always pulls me back.
When I'm not reading or writing, I can usually be found playing with air-drying clay, making miniature book earrings. I'm simply obsessed with books: their feel, their smell, their stories, their covers... I could very happily spend a whole day in Waterstones – I'm the strange woman sniffing books in the corner! Thankfully, I haven't been forcibly removed. Yet.
I'm passionate about writing both contemporary and historical fiction and love time spent researching. In 2018 I signed publishing contracts for three novels with Choc Lit’s new imprint, Ruby Fiction.
I'm a member of the Romantic Novelists’ Association and a reader for their New Writers’ Scheme. I'm also a member of Nottingham Writers’ Studio, the Society of Authors and Ellipses and Ampersands’ fiction critique group.
If you've purchased Arlette's Story, Magnolia House, or You've Got My Number, I'm very grateful.
Thank you very much. xx

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 2 March 2020A lovely warm story, with believable characters and a happy ending, I enjoyed it as much as Magnolia House. Well done Angela x
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 June 2020I read this during lock-down, needing a bit of escapism and it was a great choice. As in “Arlette’s Story”, I loved the author’s descriptions. Tess, our heroine, is from Cornwall originally but is working near Nottingham in the village of Halston, “For her, living in Halston was like living in a painting. A narrow winding road curled around the village green, where grasses and wild flowers were given free rein to do as they pleased.” And “dark, wispy clouds obscured the apricot skies as if a vandal had smeared grey paint across a Turner sunset.” ; a description of a fig tree: “Dark fruit hung from its branches, like sleeping bats amongst autumn’s yellowing leaves.” When she visits her parents back in Cornwall, I wanted to step into that world too: “The beach was furrowed in ridges, as if it were frowning at the elements.”…”Water trickled down the cliff face, weaving in and out of velvety lichen and barnacles that were clinging to the rock.” Ms Barton has an artistic eye and is at her best for me when she describes her locations. Beautiful!
We need laughter too, don’t we? And there is plenty of humour in this story. I laughed out loud (and cringed too) when Tess meets the gorgeous Daniel, a painter with two gorgeous dogs with perfect names: Goya and Gogh. Loved that! Tessa had been preparing fish and gone out in a hurry to buy extra ingredients and forgotten her purse. (Haven’t we all done this at some time?) Of course, our drop-dead “magnetically good-looking” man of everyone’s dreams had to meet Tess for the first time with “fish scales decorating her cheeks”. And the time when she rushes out with the first clothes to hand in “a yellow and brown ensemble” and again bumps into the hunk. “’I look like a geriatric Brownie,’ she wailed.” I had to laugh. I loved too the newspaper headline about her courageous act when foiling a hold-up in the newsagent’s shop: “DON’T MESS WITH TESS” and the cringing photo that accompanied the article. There were loads of these snippets that made me smile. Thank you!
But what on earth did she see in Blake Snipes? (What a brilliant name for an anti-hero). This part of the story annoyed me slightly. He is an awful man and the deception he uses to try to keep her as his girlfriend is despicable. (No spoilers). He might possibly have been a catch in the past, but there was nothing to redeem him whatsoever in this story and he and Tess seem to have nothing in common. About the countryside and the fields of floating pollen, “Tess called it nature’s loveliness. He called it nature’s slovenliness.” He smokes as well. Why she let him stay in her bed even though she begins to realise that she must be rid of him was a big question mark for me. I know we all make mistakes and Tess is kindness personified, but I wanted to shake her really early on and tell her to get her life sorted. But, maybe that was the author’s intention?
Daniel, on the other hand, is a perfect “Byronic” hero, who reminded me of Darcy in his beautiful country pile. His advice rings so true, “Life is short. It has a way of coming up behind you when you’re not looking and pulling the rug out from under your feet.” YES!
This story is romantic, funny, engaging and a little bit escapist with a lot of truth and hope combined. Thank you, Angela for lifting me into another world for a few hours.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 September 2023I read this whilst away in Scotland and found it extraordinarily compelling. This isn't my normal read so wasn't sure if I'd get on with it, but you're hooked without knowing it. The story can be upsetting and emotional as you realise their lives are just like ours. Always dramas and worries but good friends. Can well recommend!

Images in this review - Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 March 2020This is a heartwarming contemporary romance mainly set not too far away from where I live! Tess Fenton is feeling dissatisfied with her life. Yes, she has a job, a boyfriend and lives in a lovely cottage in a pretty village. However, the only good thing about her job is her best friend works there with her and she has really had enough of her boyfriend, Blake. She's planning on breaking up with him but he knows and chooses to lie to gain her sympathy and stop her going through with the break up. What makes this worse for Tess is that she's intrigued by a local artist, Daniel Cavanagh, but she's loyal and will resist their attraction until she's broken up with Blake . . .
I really didn't like Blake - mind you, nor did any of his friends when they knew what he'd done! As for his Mum, well, the least said about her probably the better as, despite her name, she didn't bring any joy to Tess! Daniel, however, is something else - he's great. There are plenty of obstacles and surprises in the way of this romance but it is definitely worth it in the end. It is a great read, with a fantastic mix of characters - especially the budding Miss Marple!! It takes the reader on the full gamut of emotions and I have no hesitation in highly recommending it - another brilliant read from this talented author.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and not wanting to put it down!
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 29 February 2020This is a book that has a little bit of everything, which always makes for a magical reading experience and I loved spending time in the company of Tess as she faces all that life throws her way!
She's been in a relationship with Blake for 5 years and the magic has gone! Blake doesn't see it the same way though and goes to extremely desperate measures to keep her by his side. You can understand his despair but the methods he uses are very low as he plays on Tess and her genuine caring nature.
With all the drama going on in her life Tess finds a distraction in the form of Daniel! He's a local artist with a twin sister and has suffered tragedy in his past, and finds painting a way to help him through the darker times he has faced. Tess finds herself growing very fond of Daniel and their relationship is just the sweetest - they both find one another so easy to open up to and help support one another with various issues that they have to deal with. I also loved the storyline that featured Denise - his sister - as this added another emotional thread and kept it feeling very real and relatable.
I loved the way that Tess conducts herself throughout the book which made her such a lovely character to follow. There are flashes of humour that mix well with the more serious aspects of the storyline and it was just a pleasure to read from start to finish.
