4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 168 ratings

“A gripping and thought-provoking dark fantasy where good is pitted against the demonic, and the result is anything but certain. Most highly recommended." Readers’ Favorite

A fast-paced supernatural thriller of life, death, deceit, and danger.

Claire Sylvester is vulnerable. Saved from her terrifying near-hell experience, she’s now without the love of her soul mate Raphael, and the wise counsel of the beautiful angel Gabriella.

The ebb and flow of good versus evil takes a shocking new twist as Claire has a chance to make a difference. But the stakes are high - on Earth and in the mysterious in-between world of Cherussola.

Will Claire find the strength and courage to put her plan into action, or watch as the lives of all those she loves disintegrate before her eyes?

Full content visible, double tap to read brief content.

During her downtime Deb likes escaping from reality (and housework) to the bondu. This is where her characters and their stories are born.

She enjoys writing in different genres and this could be the reason why she’s not a New York Times best seller yet (though there could be lots of other reasons too.) Deb’s series include the supernatural suspense Afterlife books, the first of which was inspired by ants, Unlikely Soldiers (based on some of her experiences in the British Army) and The Island Dog Squad series of novellas. She’s also written children’s books about Jason the penguin and Barry the reindeer, a novel about netball players, as well as a non-fiction book about a boy born to be different (co-written with Zak’s Mum, Joanne). There are also two novels in the Aliens Guide series. Her latest books, The Island Expats, are cosy mysteries set on the fictional island of Souvia.

Her current work in progress is a fun read (not) about how she coped with cancer.

Deb’s husband, Allan, is also a weather refugee and they live in Cyprus with their rescue dog, Sandy.

The third book of the Afterlife series was yet another brilliant piece of work by Deb McEwan. Deb's fantastic talent for weaving the lives of her characters together is really impressive and demonstrates a rather creative and vivid imagination. As with all of the Afterlife series this was a real page turner and I was so immersed in it that I found myself really invested in the characters, often feeling worried or even scared for them. I really struggled to put this book down and consequently read it quickly. This was fine with the second book as I had the third to look forward to but I'm genuinely disappointed that I've finished the series. I desperately want to know how Val holds up, what happens with Marion. I'd love to see how the twins careers progress with SAP, therefore although I get the feeling this is the last in the series, there is definitely room for Deb to give us more from the world of the Afterlife. Well done Deb another exciting and cleverly written novel.

Yet a again a BRILLIANTLY written book ! I sat down with a cup of coffee and was far too engrossed in minutes ! Took me one day ....
When I started reading book 1 I thought oh bit of light reading, but it's not .. It is so much more

I'm not a practising anything but I do believe that this life is just a part of something else, and reading the books makes you believe that there possibly is, the fight between good and evil, people going before their time, people coming back as lessons still need to be learnt..

In it's own right these books are POWERFUL and deserve their place on everyone's bookcase .

Congratulations Deb McEwan, beautifully written, captivating from start to finish.... Again you have left me wanting more

Book 3 of this trilogy was every bit as good as I expected. So good in fact that I did not want it to finish a brilliant end to a fantastic trilogy. The author has a great way of bringing all the characters together in every book she writes. Her imagination of the afterlife is extraordinary. This trilogy is a great read for anyone interested in the afterlife.
