16 Millimeters: A Maizie Albright Humorous Romantic Mystery: Maizie Albright Star Detective, Book 2
Audible Audiobook
– Unabridged
Body doubles, dead bodies, and hot bodies abound.... Wait, what?
The Wall Street Journal best-selling author Larissa Reinhart presents the Silver Falchion finalist for best cozy mystery and Reader's Choice awards, the second in the snappy, sassy, and sexy Maizie Albright Star Detective romantic comedy mysteries.
"A mixture of adventure, mystery, and romcom. So like Hollywood, you'll never figure out what is real and what is make-believe until you reach the end." (Laura's Interests)
#StillAWannabeDetective
In continuing her career-makeover quest as a for-real detective, ex-teen and reality star Maizie Albright has a big learning curve to overcome. A sleuthing background starring in a TV show - Julia Pinkerton, Teen Detective - does not cut the real-life mustard. It doesn't even buy her lunch, let alone extra condiments. Her chosen mentor, Wyatt Nash of Nash Security Solutions, is not a willing teacher. He'd rather stick Maizie with a safe desk job and handle the security solution-ing himself. But Maizie's got other plans to help Nash. First, win Nash's trust. Second, his heart.
Wait, not his heart. His respect. His hearty respect.
So when a major movie producer needs a babysitter for his hot mess starlet, Maizie eagerly takes the job. But when her starlet appears dead and then not dead, Maizie's got more than an actress to watch and a missing corpse to find. Body doubles, dead bodies, and hot bodies abound when the big screen, small screen, and silent screams collide. Maizie's on the job, on the skids, and on thin ice, hunting a killer who may be a celebrity stalker. And Maizie just might be the next celebrity who gets snuffed.
"I love seeing Maizie grow as a character, and I absolutely adore the behind-the-scenes glimpses into celebrity culture. I encourage readers to delve into this lively, funny, and genuinely satisfying series." (King's River Life Magazine)

“Familiarity breeds contempt. So does questionable morality and murder.”
Won’t anyone stop thinking of Mazie Albright as Julia Pinkerton, the teenaged Star? Well, it might help if Mazie stopped channeling her. In this, the second of Rheinhart’s new series about the PI in training, Mazie and Wyatt Nash take on a film crew setting up in Black Pines that hire them to “babysit” a former co-star of Mazie’s from her TV show days. And even she’s impressed because the former sidekick has a shot at a real career if she can stay “ clean and sober” for the run of the film schedule.
A convoluted soap opera of “ he said, she said” leads to a crazy whodunnit and why as Mazie just keeps ahead of her probation officer and the police in a story that will keep you guessing who the mastermind actually is and why the whole dang thing got so convoluted in the first place.
Larissa Rheinhart has returned to Black Pines in full on mystery form as her characters try to keep on track figuring out who, what, when, where and exactly how you hide a gun under spandex. The story will keep you riveted , the writing will keep you laughing and the energy between the characters will keep you coming back for more. Highly entertaining and recommended.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2024There is something about these characters that keeps me reading. It is not a ,*can't put down book*, but I'm still curious. Mazie doesn't even give me enough clues that I can figure it out before she can. Two years is a long time.?.?
- Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2017I had so much fun reading 16 Millimeters. Larissa Reinhart knows how to tell a good story that is interesting right up to the last page. I'd often realize I was smiling while reading about Maizie's shenanigans. The things she says to herself are ridiculously funny. Ms Reinhart's characters are believable; some I liked and others I hope to never encounter.
Maizie is working for the only private investigations business in her home town Black Pine, Georgia. So far all she's learned is how to sit at a desk doing paperwork. She is anxious to get out of the office and learn how to do investigations. She knows she needs training but her boss Wyatt Nash, a major hunk, is reluctant to have her work in the field. Their relationship is growing but Wyatt says he can either work with her or date her not both.
The plot was interesting and fast paced. There was never a moment of boredom. Maizie seems to have a knack for finding dead bodies. It's not surprising that she was a possible suspect at one time. I highly recommend this book to those readers who like mysteries with humor.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 26, 2017When Maizie accepts what appears to be an easy job, babysitting an actress with "issues," she has no idea that she'll become embroiled in one mystery after another as well as murder, lots of murder! No one is who they claim to be, and the roles they play could be one to die for, literally. Maizie is at her best as she uses her intelligence, intuition, and creativity in an effort to babysit Cambria, solve one mystery after another, and, most importantly, make sure she doesn't become the next victim. I loved the non-stop action, humor, and unforgettable characters, especially Maizie and Nash. Nash won my heart in in the first book, and he's even more irresistible in 16 Millimeters. This book kept me guessing until the very end and lived up to 15 Minutes, the first book in the Maizie Albright series. I love these books and the unpredictable, quirky characters. I highly recommend it.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2017Maizie Albright and Larissa Reinhart have done it again! Action, humor and heart tied me to this delightful mystery from beginning to end! Nash doesn't play a really big role but OH, MY, I think I would read the books just for him. I have caught Maisie's crush. The ex-actress just can't keep from getting drawn into the drama around the business that has followed her to Georgia. Not only is she dying to turn her internship into active investigative time, she is drawn to help those with whom she can relate, not to mention, Nash's business needs the big bucks and she is one of the reasons! From the time she sees what appears to be the dead body of old show mate the neophyte detective refuses to give up on uncovering the muck that is hiding under the covers of the flash of show business but she is also concerned about the person who, contrary to all appearances, she would swear was dead. Nothing is every easy for Maizie anymore but she refuses to give up. Nash is not thrilled for his agency to be drawn so close to the TV industry but he needs the money before his vengeful ex takes over the business. The warmth of Maizie's dad's family and the shadow of her mother's disapproval follow Maizie throughout the novel.
I have pre-order a copy of 16 Millimeters but was thrilled to get to read an ARC of the book. Thanks you Ms. Reinhart! I loved it!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2023I keep reading this, I like it and do not know why. Maize is not in my age group and I am still entrenched in the story.
