An Independent Filmmakers Guide to Preparing and Submitting to Film Festivals [Print Replica] Kindle Edition

5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars 4 ratings

For an Independent Filmmaker being accepted into a film festival is a dream come true. They represent the best way of gaining acclaim and recognition for your work. Making a film requires a great deal of time and money investment. Beyond that, you will find further costs needed to promote and distribute your production. This book aims to provide insight and strategy to help you improve your film and increase your potential success when submitting to festivals. This book includes valuable information about preparing your film for festival submission. Plus, you will find out what they look for and how they work. If you package your film correctly, you will provide yourself with the best opportunity for success. There is also information on the various platforms to which you can submit. I pay special attention to FilmFreeway. Though times have changed through the Novel Coronavirus, creativity and desire have not. Festivals and filmmakers have had to evolve and consider the changing economics of the world and the constraints under which we have to work. As a filmmaker and film festival director, I now understand the numerous mistakes I have made in the past. My objective is to support new, young and inexperienced independent filmmakers so that they can provide their films with the most realistic chance of success.

The key to his books, which include ‘Manage your time and become happier...’ is a desire to pass on lessons learned. We all know life is a box of chocolates. But with so many choices, it is hard to know which one and how many to take.

I recommend this guide for new filmmakers who want to start making and submitting their films to film festivals. Please read this before you start your projects. It contains tips, definitions, explanations but the best for me was - the experienced opinion and advice by someone who already has been through the whole process and has been on both sides - filmmaker but also works in the industry.

It's important to have strategies when planning to submit to film festivals. You will find this guide very insightful.

If you just made a film or are thinking of making one, this book is worth a read as it prepares you for what you need to do once the film is finished. As a filmmaker myself I found getting into festivals and the process/learning curve very steep. This book will save you hours!

5.0 out of 5 stars Una guía estupenda para cineastas independientes
Reviewed in Spain on 19 March 2023
