Inheritance (The Dark Gifts Book 2) Kindle Edition
Jason has three goals. Protecting Sara. Providing what they needed to survive. And most importantly—and most terrifying—facing his worst fear.
Is he is the savage murderer executing the grizzly slayings in their sleepy little burg?
When the full moon rises, he’ll have his answer. And his sister may never be safe again.
If only they knew he isn’t the worst monster out there. And that they have been hunted since the day Sara was born.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2013I expected Inheritance to pick up right where Birthright left off, but I was mistaken...
At the beginning of Inheritance, we are introduced to Jason and Sarah, a brother and sister duo that have had a rough life. They grew up in foster care, never knowing anything of their real family. Finally one day, they receive news that an aunt they never even knew existed has left them her house. They move in, but strange things start happening to Jason. It seems that the 3 nights around the full moon every month he has blackout episodes. Waking up covered in blood that is not his own, he has no recollection about what he has done.
At first, Sarah thinks that Jason is crazy. She thinks that he just needs to see a therapist. Jason is determined to prove her otherwise and begins building himself a sturdy cage in the basement. Sarah watches, stunned, as Jason locks himself inside of the cage and begins to change into a monster. She won't give up on him though, she is sure that she can help him. He is all she has ever known, and she needs him.
As they begin looking through the belongings and documents left inside of their deceased aunt's house, they realize that they may still have family out there, and they embark on a journey to find them.
Will Sarah and Jason finally have a real family? Will they find them and find out why they were forgotten all of these years? Is this freakish thing with Jason going to happen to Sarah at some point as well, and if so, will she be strong enough to handle it?
This book was absolute awesomesauce! Seriously, I started it one evening and stayed up til 3am reading it and then finally went to bed, knowing that I had an early morning. Once in bed, I almost convinced myself to get back up and continue reading, who needs sleep anyway, right?
I would totally recommend this to all you paranormal lovers out there. I'm sure you will be drawn in, just as I was. You really don't have to read Birthright before you read Inheritance, but I would still recommend that you do. It is, afterall, a really really good book!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 13, 2013As the story began I was confused as I thought it was book 2. The story developed very nice and interesting so I continued. Boy was I surprised around 60% through the book when it tied right into book 1. Now I can't wait for book 3!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 9, 2013This was an amazing story as a sequel or as a stand alone. I did not have the opportunity to read the first book in this series and to tell you the truth the author does such an amazing job with this story you don't need to read it unless you want to. Characters are well developed, story line flows from beginning to end.. nothing is rushed.. or left too vague. In other words it was great!
I love a good paranormal and this one surprising starts off as solely wolf... as the story progresses we find that it starts to bring in other elements and hints at still others that we will surely see in the next book. Very endearing story about family, friendship, loyalty and honor... you find that indeed you do not always inherit money or other material things, sometimes you inherit love or a dog or two :D
I really enjoyed the other books by this author so I am not surprised that I really enjoyed this one. I can't wait to get my teeth into the next book to see where the story goes from here!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2012Willow Cross has out done her self with this one. I am a huge fan of Willows & love all her books, but Inheritance is by far my favorite book yet. From the very start I was drawn into the world of Inheritance. I love all the different point of views, you get so much more story that way & they are wrote in a way that you don't get confused. After the death of their aunt, Sarah & Jason inherited her house. It is there they begin to discover their family secret. Which leads them on an adventure that they can hardly believe is really happening. Sarah & Jason have a great relationship, that often had me laughing out loud. This may be the 2nd book in the Dark Gifts series, but u can defiantly read Inheritance without having read Birthright (1st in the series). Do yourself a favor and read this book, it is awesome & you won't be sorry. Happy Reading :)
- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2013I inadvertently started with this book #2. I did not feel LOST at all. This is an independent story. Saying that, I can't wait to read book 1 & 3.
The story of the werewolves of course coincides with traditional thoughts on werewolf make believe. The author does a nice job of putting her own flair to it. Sarah and Jason are not whiney, woo is me, orphans. They are characters that develop quite nicely into believable leaders. The love triangle is overdone and doesn't seem necessary but hopefully something better comes off it.
I have this book 3 stars because the end stopped abruptly and it is clearly an "accessory" story to the whole series.
The book is well done though. It could have deserved 4. Stars, but the end just...... stopped.

Inheritance
The Dark Gifts #2
Although this book is the 2nd in the series, it could easily be read as a stand-alone (but you'll then be left wanting to read the first immediately). As with the first book, I was completely engrossed from the first chapter and just couldn't put it down. Incredibly well written with characters that draw you in, you'll soon be in the middle of the action rather than just reading about it. Sarah and Jason have no idea who they really are, and their feelings come across vividly as they start discovering they are not only werewolves but alphas. Obviously there would be no fun without a bit of danger, and there's plenty of it which will keep you turning page after page. A must read for all werewolf / paranormal lovers.
