About the Author

All my life I’ve been dreaming up stories.
When I wasn’t creating imaginary scenarios, I had my nose stuck in books, and there was one thing I loved more than the escapism―the fact a story can touch me so deeply. I knew early on this was something I wanted to do for others.
Fast forward a few years and the dream almost got lost, but I still couldn’t shake it completely. Now I write sizzling romance with the hope of making my readers’ hearts race like they are falling in love for the first time.

Enter one rich, somewhat spoiled young woman, Alexa Greene into the penthouse of Enrique `Ric' Castillo and the fire is lit between these two.

Sure it was only on a dare but what Alexa had not bargained for was blackmail. Not the savage kind, but the sexy, searing kind.
The beginning is priceless in this contemporary romance set in Marcella, Spain where sparks ignite between Alexa and Ric. Coming from two different worlds, they mask their initial attraction with a high voltage weariness that borders on frustration with each other. The push and pull of their romantic attraction coupled with their objectives, put them at odds with each other and their internal desire. Conflicts force them into corners as they other battle at every turn. The heat-factor of Sinfully Summer starts out with a crackling sizzle and steadily the temperature surges as Alexa and Ric struggle to keep their lust at bay.

The story brings two people from vastly different upbringings together with what should have been a brief interlude. Yet Alexa, by her very nature, prickles Ric as well as one of his wealthy patrons during a "date." In undoing his efforts to obtain support for an upcoming charity ball (he's planning), Alexa is thrust into helping him further by his ability to manipulate her guilt. And this is where we begin to see the unveiling of the depth of these two characters.

Ric, now a wealthy hotel owner, seeks to assuage his shame at having lived on the streets as a five-year old. He bears the invisible scars in learning how to survive (for ten years alone) homeless in Madrid. He seeks to fund a charity aimed at assisting homeless children suffering a similar fate is one of the driving forces of this plot.

Over the course of the story, Alexa slowly comes to know the various facets that make-up Ric beyond his need for respect. In turn we get to see how his Type-A personality both needles Alexa yet also allow her to respond to him with a softer, caring side. This opposing of personalities intersects over and over.

Ric is a man with deep pocket of passion capable of violence and yes a heaping of dark smoldering good looks that aptly set Alexa's blood on fire. With equal measure, Alexa tries Ric's patience from the clothes she wears, to her forth-rightful utterances, to her desire for a fun time while on holiday with her friends. But Alexa is more than a 23-year old party girl the press has painted her. She started her own company and seeks the same independence Ric does even if each of them goes about seeking to mold their identity in vastly polar ways. Ric is all about establishing his own footing away from his wealthy adoptive parents and Alexa refuses to touch her trust fund (which speaks volumes as to her family dynamics). So even though they both understand wealth, they have more than enough strength of character to want to make it on their own.

Throughout the story, it was like the pencil skirt he forced Alexa to wear permitting small steps forward in which both hero and heroine uncover things they liked and nearly abhorred in each other...until they dug a little deeper. When the couple comes together, the sexy times are well written, hot and hammering.

All is not well in romance town though and when Duffy brings on the problems, she does so in spades. This couple is given a chance to heat up the penthouse and then they fall out. Everything from night terrors to accusations to fear of falling/trusting is heaped onto the couple.

Dialogue and scene changes throughout the story keep the pace brisk. There's never a dull moment and the angst is piled on keeping the tension tight and the romance hot and steamy. By the end of the story, the reader seriously wants to lock these two together in a room. They are so right for each other if they'd shut up and kiss. And kiss and kiss. Not to mention all the other things they've done along the way.

Did I say it gets freaking HOT IN HERE? I thoroughly enjoyed reading Sinfully Summer (The Brit terms were so well-played. I want to speak in an accent too!) and did so the exclusion of everything is it was that enthralling. Ms Duffy constructs one heck of love story, teasing the passion and tension from start to finish. Sinfully Summer is the official romance book of the summer.

ONE OF MY FAVORITE RAMPING UP SCENES
His chocolate eyes, usually warm, now looked like they'd scorch the sockets. With a rigid jaw, he bent down so his lips were an inch from hers. Alexa's hormones exploded like fireworks, but the anger hadn't gone. No, the lust just ignited it further. She wanted to strangle him, wanted to kiss him and bite his lips, wanted... something.

`You're walking down a dangerous path, querido.' The husky tone held a note of warning.

I'm a huge Aimee Duffy fan. I love her writing style.

I read this story in almost one sitting--a very long sitting! But once I began it, I had to know how it was going to end. The hero kept me on my toes as I tried to figure him out. He's that tall, dark, handsome, and mysterious man. He isn't that sweet man you swoon over. He's older then Alexa (score one - older man!) and doesn't have time for her childish games. He frustrates Alexa to no end, yet they can't help but find themselves attracted to one another and hating the fact that they are.

This is a romance full of sexual tension. You find yourself as the reader hoping the kiss will happen soon.

My favorite scene in this book was the water park. Want to know why? Guess you'll have to read it. :)

OMG this book was SO MUCH FUN! First off let me say that this story started off with one of the funniest first chapters ever! All I have to say is that it involves a dare which has our main character Alexa caught running around a luxurious hotel in nothing but her underwear. This may sound funny enough as it is, but she ends up in the penthouse of the sexy Hotel owner.

What may have showed the humor of the situation is the instant sexual chemistry between them too. The relationship between Rico and Alexa is a perfect yin/yang opposites attract one. Rico comes from a troubled almost heart breaking childhood. Adopted by this successful parents he took their generosity and their money for granted and now he is determined to get his act together and run a successful business to thank them for saving his life. The last thing he needs is to be distracted by Alexa, a British Heiress who he feels spends way too much time partying with not enough clothing. Catching her in a bad situation he decides to use it to his advantage and have her help plan a charity event that rings close to home.

Alexa is determined to make something of herself without the help of her father. Having lost her mother to what Alexa feels is thanks to her father treating her like nothing but a trophy wife, Alex wants nothing to do with her father and never wants to be treated like a possession. She is determined to shed her party girl reputation and create a successful business of her own. When she meets Rico is immediately drawn to his gorgeous Spanish looks, but at the same time repulsed by the fact that he represent everything she does not like about her father.

As they develop a close working relationship, Alexa is determined to make Rico have more fun, whereas Rico will do everything he can to make Alexa respectful and more professional. Will opposites attract or will their differences be too much over come. And how will they handle this burning chemistry between them. All of this combined to make a story that is absolutely perfect for the summer.

The title of this book is absolutely spot on. This is a perfect summer read and I absolutely enjoyed reading by the beach. I loved both of the main characters and the chemistry between them was amazing. I felt both of their stories were enjoyable to read about, and the author did a great job at developing the sexual tension between them. My only complaint of this book was that it was too short! I wanted to read more about Rico and Alexa! All in all a fun, playful read that is perfect fun summer time read!

    Sunshine in a book!
I love the characters author Aimee Duffy has created. Both Alexa and Ric are equally matched in the determination battle. And equally matched in the chemistry department with a scorching heat between them that has nothing to do with the Marbella sun.

Alexa is a party girl heiress who likes to have fun. But don't be fooled into thinking she is spoiled and indulged because she is not. What I love about Alexa is that she is open and honest. A 'take her or leave her' type of person who is determined to live life her own way and have fun doing it. And boy does she.

Ric. Oh delicious Ric!He is a tortured hero determined to shed his bad-boy image and make his family proud. The only way to do this and prove he can be successful in his own right is to enlist the help of Alexa. What a pity she refuses to comply with any of his demands. Including wearing clothes.

What I love about this wonderfully written book is that there are such tender moments when Ric's past is uncovered, but when there are moments of fun, it's ear to ear grin time.

Without a doubt my favourite Summer read!

A nice afternoon read in the sunshine, which will have your inner monologue saying 'he is a sexy she should jump him', 'What a B******D', 'Why is she letting him get away with that', 'She needs to go out with her mates and pull that will teach him',.... 'Oh shag already!' etc.

They drive each other crazy and the sexual tension is present throughout. The POV is switched so you can tell what he is thinking and why he is so guarded. He is a sexy, angst ridden Spaniard who has to be rich to afford the cemetery he hides all his skeletons in. You want him to have his heart broken just so he can learn some manners. He rides rough shot over the female protagonist all the time. She is hen pecked by him which drove me insane as I wanted her to grow some woman balls and beat him over the head with them. Yes every now and then she bitched at him but it was more showing her claws than tearing him a new one. I wanted blood and she was just pinching!

He is so cocksure of himself that I wanted him to 'want and need' her so badly that it made his crotch twitch even at the mention of her name!I then wanted her to say 'No, you treated me like poo and that will not do'... enter stage right a new man to make him realise he is a king sized dick and would have to crawl back to her on all fours with a pair of Jimmy Choos hanging from his drooling chops before she would even give him the time of day.

When there is sex (yup there are rude bits), you think 'Gah awkward', 'No don't let him near your hoo har', 'he doesn't deserve to play down there!'... effectively you want him put on rations and for her to make him beg! The sex gets better and you think 'Awww how cute'. I liked that the author writes it from both POV's so I can pretend I have a willy!

All in all a good afternoon read that makes you long for a holiday, some make up sex and a party on a boat... all washed down with a couple of cocktails and a boogie to 'She wore an inchy wincy teeny winnie yellow polka dot bikini'.

So why not 5*... I don't get why it was called 'Sinfully summer' as there wasn't any real 'Sin' in it. I assume it is because 'Ric the dick' would never be approved by the publisher. I also got confused with the dialogue lay out and sometimes we had moved onto another day or a couple of days ahead and I had to check back to see where the switch happened. Nothing too annoying but it did set me back a little as a reader.

    A thoroughly enjoyable read!

Having voted for this story during SYTYCW, I am so pleased it found a home with HarperImpulse so that I finally got to read it.

A sweet, warm romance with a feisty, vulnerable heroine and pig-headed, tortured hero. Oh and it positively sizzles in parts too.

    Great holiday read.
