Wouldn't you love to step inside your favorite fantasy novel? Lyra did.
Lyra McCauley is destined, like other women in her family, to serve as Scribes in Dragonspeir. The Scribes span a long history, dating from 1,200 to present day. Each Scribe must journey through Dragonspeir, both good and evil factions, then draft a written account. Each book contains magic with vast implications.
Lyra learned of Dragonspeir as a child when she read one of those books and met high sorcerer Cullen Drake. He escorted her into the parallel world of Dragonspeir. Years later, she lost that volume and forgot the world and him. This series begins when he relocates her—she is thirty-five, standing in his bookstore, and Dragonspeir needs her.
She reopens that enchanted book and confronts quests where she is expected to save the good Alliance from destruction by the evil Black Dragon. In the process, Lyra and Cullen fall in love. He is 220 years old, kept alive by Dragonspeir magic. And will die if Dragonspeir is taken over by the evil faction.
Lyra becomes the Scribe.

Editorial Reviews
Review
"5 stars...this book sounded like a fantasy I always had. How incredible would it be to walk into a bookstore to get a book, but instead, the book comes to life for you? I love this. And I love it even more since it is packed with incredible and lovable characters to die for.
Lyra and Cullen have an instant connection in the book right from the first chapter. You can see they were made for each other.
And the animals, oh boy the animals. This book is full of great talking animals that you will love instantly. My favorite was Noba, the pseudodragon. He was so sweet and adorable and very helpful. There was a unicorn that was actually quite the badass (that is by far the strangest thing I have said) and many more that make a huge impact on Lyra in the book. I applaud Moore for coming up with this world. It was truly epic.
Moore created such a great world that it left an impact on me. I was sad when the book ended because I wanted more. I love all the mystery in this book and some may be unsolved, but it leaves a lot to be discovered for book 2, Heritage Avenged, which I am dying for. I loved the romance in the book. Definitely recommended for those who want an original and beautifully written epic fantasy." ~Diana, Offbeat Vagabond Reviews

- Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2012This book had me hooked from the beginning. I didn't want to put it down. This is a fun and fast-reading story.
Ms. Moore draws the reader into the parallel worlds of reality and fantasy with great ease and makes them both real. Her descriptions of feelings, scenery and sounds made me feel like I was walking side by side with Lyra and Cullen. I could smell the jasmine, see the magic lightening and spritely sprays of color, sense the fear of the darkness hovering nearby, feel the love and loss that Lyra and Cullen share. I laughed at the antics of Nobu, the pseudodragon, and Yasqu, the baby dragon with a big destiny. I cried with empathy for Lyra's losses. I cheered her successes. I didn't want this story to end.
This is an exciting tale with well-developed characters and lots of happenings that draw the reader right in their midst. Ms. Moore has a wonderful talent for making the reader feel part of the story. Her creativity in developing her characters and adventures leaves me awed.
While I wait impatiently for the next installment of the Enchanted Bookstore Legend, I dream of seeing this book as a movie. What fun that would be!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 26, 2017This was a delightful science fantasy, a thoroughly enjoyable read. The story was well-plotted, with several twists and unexpected connections showing up. Lovely uses of magic and neatly done questions about magic extending into the "real" world. The characters were nicely rounded - even the more minor characters had personality quirks instead of just existing to flesh out and further the plot. Nicely drawn settings also, both the present day island and the alternate fantasy world.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2016I enjoyed this book. It was an interesting story. Yasqu, the baby dragon, and Noba, the pseudo-dragon were my favorite characters. I would recommend this story to anyone over 18 that enjoys fantasy.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 21, 2012A very interesting idea, but the author fell short on many levels. The writing style lacked maturity and cohesiveness and in many parts, the writer floated off on a sea of descriptiveness that did not mesh with the rest of the book. Parts that I assume were meant to create intrigue fell short and the scenes were very choppy. I became frustrated and only read half the book. I'm glad it was a free selection because i would not pay for this.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 7, 2019When I started reading this book I was really intrigued, wondering what it was about. But, as I kept on reading I was drawn in and couldn't put it down!! I absolutely loved it! Everything was so imaginative! I loved all the "good" characters 😏 , especially Cullen and Lyra! Marsha Moore is a very good writer/author. She made the story so real and believable that you felt like you were literally right there in the story!! She created such detailed and believable characters and settings/places both real and magical!! Lyra comes back home to take care of her ailing Aunt and while doing so finds a unique book store. The moment she walks through the door her life changes forever and nothing will ever be the same!! This is a book/story is most definitely deserving of a 5🌟 rating!!

- Reviewed in the United States on August 19, 2016I bought this ebook based on a brief description. I could not be more surprised and delighted with this story. I guarantee I will read the rest of the series of the Enchanted Bookstore. Marsha Moore has created an environment of fantasy that makes me wish it were real and that I could live there. She presents the reader with real emotions and enchanted animals and magic touching the world of the main character Lyra whose life is based in the 'real' world. I thoroughly enjoyed this story and the writing by Marsha Moore kept me absorbed in the world she created.
If someone enjoys fantasy and romance this is the book for them. If you enjoy dragons and talking bucks and sprites this is the book for you.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 1, 2016how can you not love a book who non-human characters are as much fun with tons of personality. I enjoyed them as much as the main characters. This story is so different that you really have to read it. Trying to describe it would just ruin the uniqueness. If you are looking for a fast paced, fun read I recommend this one. I couldn't wait to buy and read the rest of the books in this sequel

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming and enchanting
I first came across this author with her book Witches Moonstone Locket, and I promised myself there and then I would read more work from this talented author.
Seeking a scribe is a true fantasy tale, dragons, familiars, wizards, guardians and magic. It has everything needed to sate those magical cravings and is written in a wonderful and captivating style.
The story follows the protagonist Lyra, wrought with grief from recent events she visits her aunt, who is fighting cancer. There she finds a whole new world of mystery and enchantment, a place which has been waiting for her for a very long time. Only she can save the magical world of Dragonspeir she found herself welcomed into, but, as they usually do, forces conspire to ensure she fails.
I loved the characters within this book, and I thought the developing relationship between Lyra and Cullen was done well. I am not really a reader of erotica, so I appreciated the subtle undertones and implications made as to the relationship as things get more heated between them. I loved the mystical characters, and I look forward to picking up the next book in the series.

3.0 out of 5 stars More fantastical creatures than you can shake a stick at.
Make no mistake – Marsha A. Moore is a good writer. Anyone who writes sentences like “Olive toads sat motionless on moss” and says of a plain of grass “Not one blade moved” deserves attention, and I enjoyed her opening chapters without reservation. The 5* review title that formed in my head at that point was “From Needful Things into Narnia: The Magic of Marsha Moore”.
The difficulties for me, however, began in chapter 5 when we passed through the gateway into Dragonspeir and it turned out not to be Narnia at all. It was Wonderland on steroids, a kind of drug-induced Disneyland that grabbed my suspended disbelief and smacked me round the face with it. Jonathan Swift’s sensible advice about gradualism flew out of the magic casement so fast I admit I was nearly unseated at that point. However, I reminded myself of the quality of chapters 1-4 and remained in the saddle. But it was when Alice turned randy and started feeling the erect manhood of the horny wizard I’d previously assumed was a wise old father figure rather like Moses or Merlin that I really came unstuck. I had nothing to hold on to any more – unlike the heroine of the story.
So I freely admit the fault may be mine. I may be set in my ways and simply unprepared for a genre fusion of Disney cartoon fantasy with steamy sex. If that’s what you’re looking for, you’ll find it in “Seeking A Scribe”.
And the premise was so promising… It’s probably me. It’s definitely me. I recommend you read it yourself and make up your own mind!
