Such a great story. I read on and on just waiting for the moment he was going to mess up. I knew it was coming and couldn't wait for it to happen. I actually got teary when it happened. I love the story of these two characters. There are some hot scenes so get ready. You will be in the mood after reading the scenes. Get Fernando ready. Lol

So this was my first book by this author and it definitely won’t be my last! I loved how both Presley and Mack were stubborn, successful and didn’t take crap from anyone. Seeing how their relationship evolved seemed quite realistic. There wasn’t the extra dram or twists but the storyline flowed so great. I loved the way he was such an alpha but recognized her need to be in control at times. However the flip side was how much she loved his dominant personality and enjoyed submitting ti him because it was such a safe place to just be herself! These two made each other better! I just loved it!

Presley Griffin, hurrying to get her morning coffee, not wanting to be late for her meeting with the judge and opposing counsel, has coffee dumped on her by the gorgeous guy standing in front. When the barista calls out “Mack” and hands him his second coffee, he turns to Presley, looks her up and down and has the audacity to make rude remarks with not an apology for his faux pas. After a quick jaunt home to change, she arrives at the courthouse five minutes late to an irritated judge and the opposing counsel, the discourteous coffee-dumper, Mack.
Mack is representing the big shots, the First National Bank, who want to evict Presley’s client, Mrs. Wilson, so that they can take her property for commercial reasons and although they are representing opposite sides of the social spectrum, there is an electric current that is pulling them together, with sparks already flying. She thinks he is hot but an arrogant jerk. He thinks she is a “smokin’ hot little fireball.” A mistaken phone call brings them together and Mack has a job to do in breaking down Presley’s barriers so that he can at least get a date with her.
I have enjoyed Alex Wolf’s other books and those he co-wrote with Sloane Howell, and it has been a while since he has soloed so this one is in high anticipation and demand amongst his fans. And he did not disappoint.
I am a lover of clever dialogue and there is a lot of it in this book with language light yet teasing, banter playful yet intense. And Alex is proficient in how he tells his story, using words that easily flow from his fingers with a style that is simple yet complex. We learn a bit about the author from his references to movies and TV shows and his distaste for social conditions and big business takeovers, which adds a bit of realism to this delightful read. Even his romance scenes are so sizzling and luscious that each word explodes off the page. The chemistry between Mack and Presley erupting from their first meet, and so searing, that my fingers felt a slow burn each time I flicked the page on my e-book.
I like how Alex has his characters always doubting themselves, sometimes comedic and laugh-out-loud funny. For example, Mack doesn’t know if he wants to bed Presley or if he wants to date her. Presley has that unscrupulous devil on one shoulder and the little moral angel on the other warring with each other confusing her decision-making.
I love this author’s writing. He shows us the heart and soul of his characters. No matter how arrogant, how smart, how beautiful--they are fallible. They are real people. They all have a face of their own. And this novel too has a face of it’s own. A well-written book, Mr. Alex Wolf and worth so much more than the five stars I gave it.

Omg—this was SO good!!!! I had forgotten how well Alex Wolf can write sexual tension and chemistry. I started reading this book and I didn’t put it down till I finished. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!! (This review may contain spoilers).

I can’t get over how satisfying this book was. I loved Presley. She was beautiful, brilliant and fierce. She fought till the death for her clients. Mack was arrogant and never even considered who got hurt when he represented big banks in court. Once he went up against Presley, he couldn’t get her out of his mind. He ends up pursuing her relentlessly. Even though she’s so turned off by him at first, she sees another side to him. Again—they have insane chemistry. It was written so well. Anyway, they begin an intensely hot love affair together and they are both deeply into each other. But Mack’s firm comes between them and it was gut wrenching!! I’ll be honest, I didn’t know how Mack was gonna come back from what he did. But let me tell you... Alex Wolf can write a truly amazing ending!! It was absolutely glorious and I’m truly hoping this is a new series!

Mack was a head turner. One very handsome man who could get any woman he wanted. He was successful, arrogant and driven to succeed at any cost and that was the one thing that got him into trouble. He met the lovely Presley when he bumped into her causing her coffee to drench her and then she was the defender in court. She surprised him which never happened and then he wanted nothing but her. Its really romantic. He doesnt know which way to turn, she makes him nervous. The sex when they finally get together is way off the charts and then their job starts to interfere. Good solid read

This was a fun and steamy read! Mack is a lawyer who’s looking to be a partner in his firm, but when he meets Presley the dirty talk comes out that make for an entertaining story. I loved the storyline, I enjoyed these two characters that have same careers but with two different cause. You can feel their chemistry sizzle with their many entertaining banter. And when it finally blossoms to so much more you can’t help but keep reading until the end. This book is a definite must read for fans of alpha man who makes everything better. I hope there’s more of the other characters and I loved the connection to the other series.

Loved it and the referencing to decker and Donovan Judy great although I’d have liked a bit more from them. Mack was a great character and full of himself but nicely reigned in a bit by a good woman. Always love me some retribution and would have liked to see payback against his old boss but loved the book.

The second book I have read by this author and another good read. One thing did strike me though, and that was the similarity at times between the two books e.g. an inconvenient phone call at a big tension moment; the high-powered/high-earning man chasing after the smart and sassy low-earning woman. I will try another book by this author. I’m just hoping it won’t have recycled plot lines and characters that say the same lines over and over again during sex scenes.
