Bought: A dark captive romance Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 508 ratings

Nothing is taboo at the Fox Pit. Not even murder.
It was an offer Pearl couldn’t refuse: $100,000 for a month of her time. But the penniless exotic dancer discovers the job isn’t as simple as it seems. She hasn’t been lured to the Fox Pit simply to be a high-paid escort. At the Fox Pit, women are caged playthings for the filthy rich. Here, women are owned. And Pearl’s new owners expect her to obey every depraved command.Refusal means punishment, being sent away without a cent. But obedience comes with its own cost. Girls who do everything right are disappearing. The deeper Pearl delves into the Fox Pit’s mysteries, the darker the secrets she uncovers. And the more afraid she becomes. Afraid she’s missed something. Afraid she won’t find out the truth in time. Afraid the Fox Pit will leave her as broken as all the rest of its playthings.
Bought is a harrowing mystery that contains sexual scenes and kinks some may find triggering. Reader discretion is advised.

I really enjoyed this book for the most part. It was dark, twisted, and totally awesome!
This story revolves mostly around one character, Pearl, and her plight with being offered a large sum of money for 1 month work.
Dark Rapture will make some readers squeamish, as there is a lot of very strong and forceful BDSM aspects. So heed the warnings
This book was long... I had to stop every once in a while and read another book, but it was dark and interesting, until part 3. Then I got confused with the characters changing names, Rex, The Chair, etc.

I really liked this book, lots of twist and turns. It kept me guessing and had a little twist at the end. The only thing that I didn't really like was the ending felt really rushed to close all the loose ends. I didn't really get the romance part of the book, I definitely got the dark and captive part though. All.in all I give this a thumbs up to read.

Deep, dark, twisted, delicious and sexy. This book has suspense, plot twists and turns, engaging characters, sex galore and is so unbelievably well-written. Did not want to put it down, but wanted to know was happening, but didn't want the story to end, oh such a dilemma to have! Definitely recommend this book!

Dark Rapture Book 2 is seemingly a series story that is internally divided into multiple “books”, but which can be read as a stand-alone book. It has a prequal entitled Hush, which is also identified as Dark Rapture Book 1, and incorrectly identified as as a sequel in parts of its’ description. The prequal introduces the women who become peripheral characters in Dark Rapture Book 2, and whom are later joined by Pearl, the female protagonist of Book 2. There is very intense sexual activity in both books and extreme violence as well in Dark Rapture Book 2.
    No Spoiler with this review:
Tanner, Caden, and Owen are billionaire owners of the Fox Pit, an organization that enables its’ wealthy clientele to purchase intense sexual activity from the attractive woman employees (foxes). The concept of a club with select members purchasing services such as those provided by the women in Dark Rapture Book 2 is not new, although those reading about this for the first time might think so. Pearl has a mountain of debt and is struggling to support herself with her unsatisfactory job as a pole dancer. She is approached by someone offering $100,000 for a month of her services to others, those services ranging from pole dancing to intense sexual activity. She accepts and is brought to an unknown location where she and other selected women reside as a group, are presented singularly (or not) in various sexual sessions, and subsequently taken care of by the group’s handler, who also prepares them for each subsequent session. There have been rumors that some girls have disappeared. There are characters that might or might not be abusive, or even evil. There are many over the top sexual scenes (as is done by many other authors who seemingly are not able to create dark romance without doing this repeatedly within their books). Extensive sexual descriptions of the movement of body parts does not necessarily constitute romance. There should be a certain amount of sensuality in at least some of the scenes, but such in short supply in this book. The story starts well, begins to weaken, gets ridiculous during the scene in Tanners bedroom, and then plummets in a continuous downward spiral. This is unfortunate because the story had initially had good potential. I read it through for about 75% of the book and then began skimming through increasingly larger passages until I was finally relieved to get to the end. It seems as if the author intended this to be a series story, and when near the end, decided to extend it by adding a ridiculous concept followed by some sickeningly absurd scenes.

On the plus side the story started well, and included multiple interesting characters which could have been better developed, or possibly later developed into peripheral characters in subsequent books. Additionally, the story was mysterious enough initially to hold the reader’s interest.
Aside from the book’s spiral into the absurd, this book has significant other problems. There are plot holes and plot inconsistencies. An organization as structured as this one and yet where are the cameras? Really??? Contracts and handlers, yet no one explains to the “girls” what they can expect? No pass code or thumbprint was required to use Seth’s phone? Really??? Also, when in danger, Pearl survived some things that even ARNOLD might not have been able to manage. Additionally, the reader is left in the dark regarding the fate of some of the characters. These are just a few things; there are many others, especially leading to and during the chase. Pearl’s character is not believable and helps to ruin the potentially good story. Anyone who is a pole dancer and who had read her contract (and had it briefly explained to her) would not likely have accepted it and then balked and been shocked at almost everything associated with Fox Pit activity after she gets there. It is equally unbelievable that she would have been attracted to and would have enjoyed sexual activity with as many men as she did and yet continued to have trepidation every step of the way, even with some of the same characters. Huh??? Also, she would never have been as foolish as to have given the information away regarding Ethen’s role. Some of Pearl’s actions are worse than unbelievable, they are senseless and so annoying that she makes you almost want to discard the book. The author is fortunate in that her story telling is good enough overall to enable most readers to stick with at least most of the book, despite its plot flaws and the oddly and unwisely developed characters of both Pearl and her friend Greg.

Initially I had considered Dark Rapture Book 2 to be 4-star book. However, by the time that I finished the ending I was debating between 3 stars (to give credit for the opening and other interesting aspects of the story) and 2 stars (due to the downward spiral into the ridiculous parts of the story). After much consideration I decided to rate this book 2.5 stars, which I averaged up to 3 stars due to the effective start of the book and the easy flow of most of the story.

I received a complimentary copy of this book with no requirement for leaving a review. This review is being left voluntarily and any and all thoughts are my honest opinions on this book and/or the authors work. If you like darkness, read this book. Ms. Fox ability to deliver dark, twisted, raw, gritty and soul stealing books with great storylines is amazing. She just has a natural ability to deliver everything she says and more. They draw you in and hold you there time after time, and until the very last word. This story flowed smoothly and cohesively from paragraph to paragraph.

This was a dark twisted book that I liked a lot. Pearl is a stripper who needs money she accepts $100,000 to work at a gentleman's club to be a fox. This book had some really good dark scenes in it and a lot of good twisted sex scenes. When she arrives at the club all of her things are taken and she has no contact with the outside world. The billionaires are sick and twisted and they have a habit of making the foxes disappears. This was my first time reading this author this book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading book 2.

The best book I've read in forever. It has everything you need to keep you up all night long; amazingly HOT sex scenes, a killer plot line, and such excellent writing that I was totally immersed in the story. When I wasn't squirming in my chair during the sex scenes, I was biting my nails anxiously reading the story. I truly did stay up all night to finish the book. And can't wait to find my next book by this author.

I am so, ... Wow!! When i started reading this book, I was not sure if I would finish it. Told myself, just another chapter, just another hour, maybe I should go to bed, lol. I will recommend this story, to friends of mine that share my love for these types. I have rated it as 4 stars, only because I read the first part of this book in Dark Rapture 1. I was confused about why book 1, was the beginning of book 2. Also, towards the ended of the book, I had to start looking up the meaning of some of the words. For the most part, I could guess but to be certain, I looked them up. All in all, I really enjoyed this book.

Pearl is a pole dancer come stripper until she is invited to have dinner with the man who has watched her every night. He offers her 100,000 to work in a gentleman’s club for 30 days. Pearl has reservations but goes and then her world change. There is more going on than Pearl realised it make a good story though at the end it gets intense. I was given this for an honest review which I have given.

The storyline and plot was good, with so many twists. I was expecting Pearl to have her HEA, but was disappointed in the ending. Didn’t get to find out what happened with the males in the book or what Pearl went on to do next. Is there going to be a another book concluding Pearl’s story ?

This is one of the most enthralling box sets I have ever read. There are so many twist and turns that have you page turning to see what’s going to happen next. Without giving away any of the plot I would have to say Logan Fox certainly put in the research to create these edge of your seat, nail biting books. They are definitely for an adult audience for content. Amazing must reads.

This story started well but got lost and very confusing at the end. I would not waste my time reading this book. It ends with total confusion and mayhem, basically no ending. Very disappointed, I have never left a bad rating for a book but I really think the author needs to rewrite the ending. Don't waste your time.

Well i don't really know what to say about this book. It was cleverly written, erotic, confusing, but i couldn't stop reading. I did get a little confused towards the end with so many characters involved. Nevertheless a good story that takes a little time to read, don't try to skip any or you will lose your thread
