About the Author
Many readers ask John from where he gets his ideas. Well, he's a veteran of the corporate rat-race, a former journalist, and he's always been an astute observer of human and social behavior. On top of that, he's really good at embellishing.

About the author

Amazon #1 Bestselling Author and a Readers' Favorite Gold Medal winner.
A veteran of the corporate rat-race, John W. Mefford never realized he was mentally documenting every experience of his professional journey—not until he started his first novel during a so-called "corporate timeout."
A voracious reader of mystery-thrillers since before he could shave, John enjoys weaving a twisty tale that keeps readers riveted until the last page. He's also learned he's pretty good at embellishing. Just don't tell his fourth-grade teacher.

- Reviewed in the United States on March 3, 2017Oh My Goodness! I think I held my breath for at least half of this book! With incredible suspense, and horrifying descriptions of the ways people connected with Ivy died, the author had me looking over my shoulder for days after finishing this fast-paced read. Mefford does an incredible job of making the reader feel the intense evil of the killer. Mefford kept me guessing, trying to make a connection of the killer to Ivy. Whew! With two story lines going on, lots of detail and quite a few surprises, there are a lot of twists before the killer is finally revealed. I enjoy reading about street smart, clever, strong women like Ivy and her sidekicks (with stories of their own). They have had struggles themselves but still do their best to help others. The ending was so suspenseful, I truly did hold my breath while reading, so anxious to discover whether anyone survived. John Mefford outdoes himself in this one, it's even than the first Ivy Nash book. I can't wait for the next one!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2024Found this book to be engaging and one that made me stay with it to find the next vile act of one of several possible villains. An enjoyable days reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2017This is a mixture of Amateur Sleuth, Family Drama, and Psychological Thriller.
Ivy Nash has begun to take on cases for her start-up company, ECHO. Looking into a case of missing parents of a street-wise adolescent as well as helping the police solve some murders would be a tough job for anyone, To make matters worse, there is a blogger that is a rumormonger who shares beliefs that Ivy is a liar. Can Ivy keep it together long enough to keep up her pursuit of justice?
Having read IN Defiance, I knew about Ivy's background and the things she went through as well as the reason she began this company. I was really upset with that blogger who didn't do the due diligence. Seems as though Mr. Mefford has this ability to bring his fictional characters to life, He made it so I could love or truly dislike them. There were a few other emotions I felt for the characters while reading this story ranging from happy to downright scared.
Warning: There is Violence as well as Adult Language and Situations.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2017Ivy is somewhat heeled. Murders still going on and she's still in danger. ECHO investigations took on a case of missing parents of the another clever homeless teenager. Fast moving thriller. But don't like the way Zorro being taking care of, being left days without water and food.
Have some unanswered questions; how did the cameras was installed and where did she got the gun? 3.5 stars.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 22, 2024Ever wonder what it's like to grow up in the foster care system? Ivy Nash knows. She lived through 17 foster homes, but managed to graduate from high school and college, to begin a career with Child Protective Services. Now she is working independently, seeking to find lost or kidnapped children and reunite families. But a deranged killer is stalking her, and no one around Ivy is safe.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 8, 2024Ivy has had a rough life. At least thirteen foster homes, raped, beaten, mental anguish and someone trying to kill her. Constant suspense in the story where it is difficult to put the book down.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 6, 2024I enjoyed this book, hard to pit it down. I like Ivy determination to help and not her past define her. Christina is smart too. They make a good team
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2020Ivy and her new job with the same crew are back. Their wit and dynamic is stronger than book one and they are using it to solve a odd missing persons case as well as try to find a serial killer that is connected to her kidnapper.
There is non stop action, witty dialogue, a dash of romance, a unique family dynamic being built and of course the intrigue of how everything ties together. I did figure part of who was at fault out, but not entirely since some of his internal monologue threw me off the path! Great read and I can’t wait to read the next book to see how they move on from this ending!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Ivy Nash story continues, in great style.
This is the second book in the Ivy Nash series, and, I think, better than the first one, in that there are still some pretty gory moments, but nothing like as much as the first book. The character of Ivy is really developing and becoming more complex, and therefore more believable, and the other characters are being fleshed out and more 'real'.
As always in John Mefford's books the plot is satisfyingly twisty and cunning and the action sequences are written with heart thumping detail, if the rest of this series continues in this vein then it will become unmissable. I can't wait for the next installment in the Ivy Nash saga.

5.0 out of 5 stars "And you guys think I've got issues."
In pursuit is the second in the Ivy Nash series but can be read as a stand alone. No longer employed as a social worker, Ivy and the very independent guitar playing 17 years old street kid she befriended have partnered up to establish their own agency to help youngsters in trouble. Ivy knows what it's like to feel alone: she was herself an orphan, passing through numerous foster homes, some of them very unpleasant. So when teenage Anika asks for help in locating her missing parents, Ivy is reluctant to take the case but feels too sorry for the girl to turn her away.
Ivy is an unlikely heroine in many ways, with a steely determination undermined by being her own worst enemy. But she cares.
John Mefford is a talented and very visual writer, creating exciting stories combined with good character development and quick twists of humour. His books are always a treat. This one is no exception.
