- Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2016Final Target (Triskelion Team #1)
As a final job for his mob boss uncle, Lar Delaney agrees to eliminate one last target.
His target is non other than Moira Collins, the woman he fell in love with and whose body he identified 5 years prior in Boston…
Zara Keane wrote a fast paced book that combines politics, religion, Intelligence operations and mobsters in a suspenseful new series.
We get to know Lar who wants to get out of the life (as much as anybody can escape the mob). We learn he has spent time in prison for a crime he didn’t commit , and was given a short sentence as part of a deal he made with Irish Intelligence G2.
Lar has been biding his time and wants to start his own company, along with his cousin Shane.
Frank Delaney, Lar's uncle and Shane's father , is the mob boss who controls their lives and isn’t willing to let them go easily.
He presents Lar with evidence that Moira isn’t dead, is in fact British Intelligence (MI6) , the daughter of David McEllroy ( who is believed to be responsible to killing Lar's mother). While Lar could let that go as Moira had nothing to do with his mother's death, his uncle plants the seed in his head that Moira was responsible for the explosion in Boston 5 years prior that took the lives of Lar's brother and cousin.
Lar is conflicted and wants to be sure Moira is guilty before executing her.
Meanwhile, Moira Collins (AKA: Genevieve McEllroy ) travels to Ireland to take care of unfinished business.
She wants to find out who was responsible for the terrorist attack that killed her entire family. She suspects Frank Delaney is responsible and spares no effort in trying to prove it.
I loved 'Final Target'!
Zara Keane built a complex story with but told the story in a simple straight forward way that made it easy to navigate and understand the main players, the politics of the Irish underworld and political climate of Ireland during a turbulent time .
'Final Target' is fact paced.
Lar and Moira meet each other, the lust between them ignites instantly (the club and museum scenes are superb).
They might not trust one another, but work together nonetheless. They both how to navigate life in a world filled with lies and deceit.
'Final Target' if full of twists: we find out Moira's sister Emma survived, was given a new name and was raised by a foster family.
Emma now works as a private investigator, and after some persuasion, agrees to help Moira uncover the truth about the bombing that killed their family.
All this happens while Lar is trying to prove Moira is innocent. Moira meanwhile works under Frank's nose, as a striper in one of his clubs.
You feel the tension all through the book. The fear of discovery on both Lar and Moira's sides.
That said, Zara Keane also added comic moments in the form of one Spoons Maginty. Spoons will have you laughing nonstop with his antics at the confessional, strip bar and dark alley being chased by Lar.
Another aspect of the book I loved is the attention given to the history of Ireland, its landmarks and also the use of Irish slang. Done in a moderate way that added to the story, and made you feel like you were in Ireland experiencing events as they happened.
'Final Target' is a book filled with humor, action and emotion.
It ends with a revelation that rocks Shane's world, and sets the mood for the next book in the series: "Kiss Shot".
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2021Lars had buried his love in Boston 5 years ago when his Uncle's club was shot up and his brother and uncle had been killed also..
Moira was back in Ireland. She knew that she might run into Lars but she had to find out who had set the bomb that blew up the Church and the rest of her family.
A very steamy but exciting story

5.0 out of 5 stars Explosive Read!!!
This is book #1 in the Triskelion Series and it was a great way to start off the series. In this we meet Lar Delaney a hit man for his Mafia uncle and Moira Collins an Intelligence agent. Lar wants out of the Irish Mafia but his uncle wants him to do one more job before he'll let him walk, Lar must kill a MI6 agent who frank believes is responsible for his son's death in Boston. Lar accepts the job but soon finds himself staring at the picture of an old ex he believed to be dead and happened to be killed in the same bomb that killed frank's son in Boston - Moira Mahon a.k.a Moira Collins (MI6 agent). This is where it gets interesting and the plot really takes off with lots of surprises and suspense that had me on pins & needles throughout!! We have a sexy badass hero and a pretty badass heroine, mix them together and you have an explosive read!! It has many twists and turns but you can also see the love between the two main characters with plenty of action to keep you turning the pages. It's ending has a promise of more to come from these characters in the next book because there were quite a few loose ends that have set up for an excellent 2nd book

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book
I loved this book, as with all her other books there is also an element of humour thrown in to her books (this time mostly courtesy of Spoons), it leaves you wondering at the very end just who was Moira/Gen's handler in Boston and when their identity will be revealed.
