- Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2013In Angels we are introduced to Ceri - to all extents and purposes a normal working girl with hopes and dreams of love and happiness. However, she knows she is different and has gifts that set her apart from the folk around her, but she is afraid and unsure of the meaning of her life and the events that unfold. We follow her struggle to understand her purpose and to accept her destiny - even when things don't work out the way she wanted.
When powerful emotion, passion and love come into our lives there should be joy and fulfilment - but for Ceri something in the universe is trying to stop her. Can we indulge our hearts-desire in the present without causing changes to the paths we are meant to follow? Can mutual love between soul-mates really be so wrong? Just who is Ceri and what is she? Can she ever just love and be loved in return?
Linn Halton writes with a light touch that is easy to read and creates believable characters you will love and care about.
This is my favourite book from Linn Halton so far - and it's only part one of a trilogy - so plenty more to follow... I can't wait!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2013What's great about Linn B. Halton is, she's reliable. Whenever you pick up a Halton book like Never Alone you know that you're going to get an interesting and unique read. The angels series serves that up on a designer platter, with interesting characterization and a plot line that leaves you wondering where this is all going.
Bottom line: Read it, enjoy it, love it.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 10, 2013This was a short read. It was not an easy read, but it was a good read. It was not a romance book, although the relationship in this book had some romance. I would consider it more a paranormal story. Not a werewolf, vampire paranormal but more an angel paranormal. Ceri is a good person, who goes out of her way to help others, especially when she gets “the feeling” that a stranger needs help.
Alex, Ceri’s co-worker, is a great friend. He is just a friend, rarely dates, and is always there for Alex. Until they develop feelings for each other and their relationship takes a uncomfortable feel to it. As we learn more about each of their lives, we realize the reason they are brought together.
I cannot tell much more without giving away the story. So I shall end it with the recommendation to check out this series of novellas by Linn B Halton.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2013NOTE: I received this eARC via Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
I'm not sure I've got a whole lot to say about this one. Mainly because it was only a hundred pages. It was a quick read, if not an amazing one.
I honestly believe that the trilogy this novella is a part of could've just be compiled in one book, so everything would have had more sense. But you know, author/publisher choice, so yeah.
To be frank, I'd forgotten what this novella was about. I remembered it being about angels, but the rest was a bit foggy so I had to go back and look at some refreshing materials.
Now that I'm certain I know what I'm talking about, I can say with a hand on my chest that this book both touched and infuriated me. It touched me because I really liked this deja vu thing that was going on with Ceri. I mean, she was pretty useful to whoever she was meant to help through her visions and I liked how she wanted to feel needed. To do something good for others, you know? And I had an idea of what she was and I liked it.
But then her unhealthy life disappointed me. And her turning toward meditation and Eastern practices disgusted me. I mean, seriously? If she was really what she was, how could she do what she did?
I don't know. I guess the angel theme speaks in a more personal level to me, as a believer. I just can't accept the unnatural stuff that angel-themed books try to sell.
Still though, it was a good enough read, so I'm not giving it a bad rating.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 28, 2014I was pleasantly surprised by this little novella. It's short, but it holds your interest, even through some quite esoteric stuff. It ends on a major cliffhanger so I'm pleased to already have the follow-up on my Kindle and to hear that the third is being released not too long after. The author has a very gentle first-person writing style that carries you along in the immediacy of the story without being alienating to a reader.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 3, 2013I have received the book for an honest review. The book starts at a break next pace of Ceri going from one person to save to another. The her writing is strong and firm but the whole story is just too fast to my liking. I would like to see some parts of the story more elaborate, as I was left wondering what had happened sometimes.
overall the story is good, but if you dislike cliffhangers probably hang on until you have the next book ready.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2013First, I would like to thank the author Linn B. Halton for giving me this book for an honest review. This is a novella so a short read. I really enjoyed the main character Ceri, she is a really good person and she sees angels. I like her best friend Alex, they fit together. The book ended with a major cliff hanger, but since this is the first book in a series, I cannot wait to see what happens next.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping and intense start to the series!
Wonderfully written, this book tells the first part of Ceri's journey of self-discovery and her budding romance with colleague, Alex. Ceri sees angels but what do they really want her to do? Are they guiding her or hindering her chance of leading a normal life?
You don't have to be a believer in any of the suggestions made in the story to enjoy it. Linn B Halton's fluent, easy-to-read writing style will have you empathising with the characters and going on the journey with them.
I can't wait for the second instalment!

5.0 out of 5 stars A nice introduction to the paranormal!
Now Angels are SO not my area of interest, BUT Linn has come up with a trilogy of novellas and tales well enough written and gripping enough for me, elderly bloke, to keep buying each volume.
There are enough reviews and synopses already, so I'll refrain from detailing the plot and characters, apart from saying that I did, really, enjoy the reads.
This review is common to all three novellas. Well done, Linn.

5.0 out of 5 stars Angel magic
A great book with a mixture of interesting characters and their lives, happy and sad times, romance and frinedship. Add in the mystical angels that Ceri sees and this is a book that is hard to put down - ends on a cliffhanger though - so sad.

5.0 out of 5 stars Angels
Another wonderfully written book,Even if you do not believe you will certainly be asking yourself questions by the end if you just relax and open your mind and enjoy the book .
Thank you Linn , I am sure there are things we all can relate to happening in our lives and makes us think...

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Paranormal Romance
This was fab! I instantly took to Ceri. She's a beautifully likeable character, struggling with her "gift".
The author has managed to keep an element of reality with the possibility of the existence of angels in life.
The book leaves us on a bit of a cliff hanger, but still gives us a satisfied feeling at the end. Can't wait to read the next part :) I'm hoping there are more answers to the angels.
