'The woman who made talking about your thinking not just acceptable but imperative' Daily Telegraph
Bryony Gordon was not a runner. A loafer, a dawdler, a drinker, a smoker, yes. A runner, no. But, as she recovered from the emotional rollercoaster of opening up her life in her mental health memoir MAD GIRL, she realised that there were things that might actually help her: getting outside, moving her body and talking to others who found life occasionally challenging. As she ran, she started to shake off the limitations that had always held her back and she saw she had actually imposed them on herself. Why couldn't she be a runner?
In April 2017, Bryony Gordon ran all 26.2 miles of the London Marathon. In Eat, Drink, Run., we join her as she trains for this daunting task and rises to the challenge one step at the time. Of course, on top of the aching muscles and blistered feet, there's also the small matter of getting a certain royal to open up about his mental health. Through it all, Bryony shows us that extraordinary things can happen to everyone, no matter what life throws our way.
What readers are saying about Eat, Drink, Run.:
'One of the best things about this book is how Bryony manages to make you laugh, make you tearful, but ultimately hopeful about yourself and your own outlook on life and mental health'
'I laughed, I cried, I got inspired to run again'
'Bryony at her best by far! Honest, endearing, beautifully written. We all can relate in some way, if you are in doubt about how you feel, or indeed you are a person that says I can't - read this because you can, we all can'

5.0 out of 5 stars absolutely wonderful!
Verified PurchaseI read this for two reasons. I struggle with mental health and poor body image. What a pleasure to read something real, something true to life, something that I can relate to! Great book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book!
Verified PurchaseI LOVED reading 'Eat, Drink, Run' - it combines two of my favourite topics - running and mental health. It made me think, laugh and cry! I love that Bryony is opening up the conversation of mental health in the best possible way, as well as changing the narrative around what a runner ‘should’ be.
I found myself nodding along to so many parts. It opened my eyes to the one dimensional media portrayals that had filtered into my subconscious about what a runner should look and act like. It describes so brilliantly how running untangles your mind and all of your stresses from the day. The feeling of 'if I can do this, I can do anything’. I'm also a big believer in her message that if you put the work in, anything is possible, whether it’s running or something else in your life.
Highly recommend. Even if you aren’t planning to run anytime soon, you will enjoy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Unique Journey
Verified PurchaseI must admit I struggled to read this book & on my first attempt I put it down after the completion of the second chapter. The sarcasm and self defacing descriptives were not an enjoyable read.
Recently I decided to give it another go. Bryony is a character. The writing gets more fluidity and less self deprecating when Bryony is in the thick of her journey toward getting ready to run her first marathon.
Bryony is real, she is raw and her accidental path of championing awareness of Mental Health, in particular depression is awesome.
I'm glad I picked up the book and completed the read. Bryony is a great example of what you can do if you put your mind to it.
