Dark Space (Book 6): Armageddon Kindle Edition
On Avilon not Even the Truth will Set You Free . . .
THE REAL ENEMY IS WITHIN
Omnius has been hiding a lot from the people of Avilon. The war with the Sythians is not what we thought, but that raises the question: if not the Sythians, then what did Omnius go to fight in the Getties Cluster?
HUMANITY IS BEING HELD PRISONER
Omnius knows what people will do before they do it. He predicts citizens’ behavior, and some suspect, he even makes those predictions come true. For those who wish to be free of his influence, Avilon’s lowermost city, the crime-ridden, shadow-filled Null Zone is the only option, but it is becoming increasingly apparent that not even the Nulls are free, and there is a more sinister reason behind The Choosing than the one Omnius gave.
As Omnius’s predictions begin to come true, Ethan Ortane realizes he could lose the one thing that matters most to him in the universe--his family.
THERE IS A REBELLION STIRRING
Far from Avilon, the Sythians are hiding out in the neighboring Getties Cluster. Out there they discover something that wasn’t supposed to exist: a group of human rebels that escaped from Avilon. Their leader, Therius, seems to raise more questions than he answers, but he has a plan to defeat Omnius that just might work.
AND THE END IS DRAWING NEAR...
As Therius’s plan unfolds, people realize the terrible truth: he can’t win by conventional means, and he knows it. The alternative is called the Armageddon Protocol, but it could mean the end of everything, not just Omnius. . . .

- Reviewed in the United States on December 2, 2015Wow what a ride. I was sad to see this series end. Sci-fi is my favorite genre. I especially like series, as I feel I can really get to know and care about the characters and what happens to them. I feel there is no need for a synopsis, as Amazon has done a great job with that.
As I read this series, I learned to care about these characters with all their flaws as that made them human. Each book added new twists and turns to the story. This last one in the series wrapped up the series quite well. However, I felt I was left hanging with the nightstalkers and their real purpose and the room in which they trapped the humans. The room is brought back in later, and I thought we would run into the night stalkers again, but they just seemed to fade away. There seemed to be no real purpose for them. They could have been left out of the story, and it wouldn't have mattered. The rest of the series is wrapped up pretty well.
I very much recommend this series, but believe this book can stand on its own, but the development of the characters happens throughout the series, so I would recommend reading the whole series. It’s well worth the time.
I enjoyed this author very much and can't wait to read more of his work. I'm always fascinated by how much research must go into these books, As the author must not only create the characters, he creates new worlds, new concepts, and new life forms. His concept of AI is also unique. Good read.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2023Glad I read this book. It had lots of twists and turns and kept me interested. I enjoyed the characters immensely.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2015I read Jasper T. Scott’s first Dark Space novel shortly after it was published in 2013 and waited impatiently for each sequel since then. I’ve never been disappointed. In fact, Scott has improved as a writer, particularly his prose.
In DS-6 we follow Ethan Ortane and his extended family on their separate paths to find the truth behind Omnius, the AI controlling humanity. Billions have accepted the Paradise offered by Omnius, but not everyone has. Ethan is reluctantly pulled into the resistance movement that seeks to dethrone the AI that would be God. But, should Omnius be destroyed? Would humanity really be better off, or would mankind be evicted from the Garden of Eden once again?
There is plenty of action, tragedy and mystery to keep the reader involved. Scott is a Maestro of cliff-hangers and he uses them well to keep the pace accelerating. This is a long book, somewhere over 600 pages, but I never tired of it. Actually, I found myself reading faster and faster—the last 30% flew by.
I highly recommend the book and the entire series. You could read this book on its own and enjoy it, but you’d miss a great deal. The epic started with Ethan and Alara and ends with them. They go on a wild ride that I was glad to observe. And, take heart, if you start at book one you won't have to wait two years to finish the ride.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 10, 2017Enjoyed book 6. Kind of lost me near the end with all the souls and people in stasis and new babies will not have souls. Rather confusing. However, great take on AI and what uncontrolled power can do. Nanites and self replicating robots, very scary in the wrong hands. Even more scary than guns and explosives in wrong hands. I hate to think it is inevitable that humans will eventually create something to destroy us all, much easier than nuclear weapons. Be afraid, be very afraid!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2022This was better than the previous book in the series, but the characters have become confusing. With several clones in different roles... At least the action picked up enough to keep it interesting.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2015I read Jasper T. Scott’s first Dark Space about a year ago and was hooked, I worked through all 5 existent novels and was anxiously awaiting DS-6... It did not disappoint. Scott's latest is, I think the best.
The book is a network of numerous complicated but related story lines woven around a universe controlled by an AI (artificial intelligence) named Omnius who claims to be the supremely benevolent God of the human race. The story lines follow an unfolding of truth about Omnius seen from numerous angles as experienced by the flawed hero Ethan Ortane and hid extended family; it's complicated... But all down not seem to be well in paradise. Is Omnius really who he claims?
Ortane and family are key to the survival of trillions of beings as a monumental war rages to free all of humanity. But is Ortane on the right side of the conflict?
This is the conclusion to the series, which I would recommend reading to capture the full impact of the struggle. All are fast paced and filled with an amazing number of plot twists and turns as well as a never ending series of cliff hangers.
It's great science fiction and touches on some interesting fiction related to our eternal souls.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great series
Captivating series from start to finish. A futuristic tale of potentially realistic proportions with a ring of scientific truth and a healthy dose of expectations. Well written and smooth transitions between novels keep the reader wanting for more. A truly enjoyable and entertaining endeavour by Jasper T Scott.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just finished the excellent final chapter of the Dark Space Saga.
Just finished the excellent final chapter of the Dark Space Saga. I have thoroughly enjoyed all 6 volumes, anticipating each volume as it was released. Each volume continued to move ths plot in different direction keeping the interest high. Great characters, great plot, massive theatre to play it out. Having spdnt years in a technology environment the technology was set at a level for everyone. All I need now is 1. a prequel giving us the story of the immortals war predating the big experiment by Etherus, and 2. A TV series or movie.
