Cinderella Dreams of Fire (Fairy Tales Forever Book 1) (English Edition) eBook Kindle
What if Cinderella led a double life?
Cinderella has a secret. In the 10 years since her mother's death, she's only pretended to be too weak to challenge her cold-blooded stepmother. By day, she cleans the floors and washes the laundry. By night, she takes to the streets as a fearless thief with no equal. Out on a routine mission, Cinderella never expected that she'd run into him…
Braedon is hardly a model prince. He spends most of his time in the tavern, much to the dismay of his royal mother. When an unexplainable blight strikes the queen's soldiers down, Braedon's attempt to help brings him face-to-face with the beautiful, sardonic thief. He wants nothing more than to partner up with her, even if it could get him killed…
The thief would much rather work alone, but the prince’s persistence starts to wear down her defenses. When the evil force decimating the army turns its attention to the throne, Cinderella and Braedon have one chance to save the kingdom, their loved ones, and themselves.
Cinderella Dreams of Fire is the first book in the Fairy Tales Forever series, a set of fantasy novels that inject the classic retellings you know with a burst of attitude. If you like strong female characters, action-packed fantasy, and simmering chemistry, then you’ll love Casey Lane’s romantic, fast-paced adaptation.

5,0 de 5 estrelas with a great set of characters
This is not the Cinderella you remember.
This Ella does not just let stuff happen to her... she goes out and gets the job done.
Casey Lane created a delightful adventure set in the fairy tale world, with a great set of characters. The evil step-mother is... well... evil. Enjoyable from page one and a page-tuner to the last.

5,0 de 5 estrelas A twisted fairy tale that delivers!
For nearly two decades now (sheesh, could it have been so long ago?), I've been an enormous fan of the film EVER AFTER: A CINDERELLA STORY - mainly because I adore Drew Barrymore's portrayal of the feisty, smart, resilient, unfairly abused Danielle (the stand-in for Cinderella). So, when I heard about Casey Lane's book, I was understandably intrigued by the premise - and luckily, the story utterly delivered. In the vein of EVER AFTER, this fairy tale has a modern-day sensibility, not to mention a great deal of modern-day snark.
Here, Cinderella isn't just a feisty, smart, resilient, unfairly abused housekeeper with a heart of gold - she also happens to be a skilled fighter and cat burglar with attitude to spare. I really enjoyed following her journey from servitude to freedom (no spoiler here, as it does still meet the expectations of a fairy tale) - and watching as she wins the love of a prince, who, like the one in EVER AFTER, comes to appreciate how strong and unique she is. Besides offering the main story, Lane's CINDERELLA tale also provides a much richer backstory for the terrible stepmother and stepsisters - and gives the reader rather satisfying endings for several other characters (good and evil) as well.
I highly recommend this book for those who appreciate fairy tales with a twist. And for what it's worth, I also enjoyed Lane's SNOW WHITE novella - which you can only receive by signing up for the email list!

4,0 de 5 estrelas A really fun read!
I was really excited when I heard of this book having loved fairy tale retellings ever since I read Cinder by Merissa Meyer and I am really glad to have read this retelling as well! It was fast paced with plenty of action and is really quick to read through! Had I not had uni work to get through I would have likely read this in one or two sittings. I thought the plot was fun and interesting and liked the various personalities within the world Casey Lane made. I will say that I think the ending felt a little bit rushed though that may be down to the overall fast pace of the book. I would have been more than happy for it to have been longer with more world building, backstory but I have always loved long books! Sometimes the language used by the characters didn't sound like something that would be used in a fantasy setting.
Other than a couple of criticisms however I really did enjoy this book and will definitely download the next one when it comes out!

4,0 de 5 estrelas THE 'KICK-ASS' VERSION OF CINDERELLA!
THIS IS THE KICK-ASS VERSION OF CINDERELLA. IT WILL PROBABLY SELL LIKE HOTCAKES
This is an interesting, readable fantasy variation on a classic fairy tale. Cinderella and similar tales are the soil from which hundreds of stories and movies and comics all spring. Fairy tales - particularly the Grimm version - are Western civilization's mythology. They resonate with readers who have never encountered the original stories. But what makes this version and others apparently planned by Casey Lane different is how they reflect the current social mores. In other words, these are NOT your grandmother's version of fairy tales.
Instead of a sweet loving princess helped by a fairy godmother to attract the eye and the heart of a handsome prince, this Cinderella is a tough-as-nails thief and fighter who doesn't need any 'steenking man' to fight for her. She'll kick your ass herself. The story builds on the bare bones of the Cinderella story with the dead mother, (dead or dead to the world) father, the evil stepmother and two mean stepsisters. But Lane tells an entirely different story from this background. It's actually a pretty good twist on the original with a valid reason for the stepmother's dislike of Cinderella and how rotten her stepsisters were.
The story is pretty good except for one detail. I'm not sure the author has any idea what a medieval village was, or it's size.Quite simply too much happens in a small village attached to a minor lord's castle. There are too many soldiers, too many inns, too much action. This village feels like a capitol city and a major lord's holdings. Of course it's a fairy tale, but the fairy tales grew up around the medieval world of villages and towns and capitol cities and castles of various sizes. There has to be a hint of reality.
That aside, this is a good idea, making the blushing maidens of yore into man-killing Women Warriors. I'll look forward to seeing what Lane does next. This one is well worth reading and buying.

5,0 de 5 estrelas Fantastic
This was truly an original telling of an old fairy tale. What wonderful message to send to a new generation of young ladies and women. This was a blast. I want to get the rest in the series.
