Small Town Scandal: A Second Chance Small Town Romance (Wingmen Book 5) Kindle Edition
Carter Kelso is a man with a plan. And goats.
Ashley Kingston is a woman with a reputation.
Can he earn back her love before their past catches up with them and destroys everything?
On the island, my last name is synonymous with scandal. With a notorious father and a famous brother, I've been on the sidelines of our small town's gossip circle for years. Nothing to see here. Just a man and his goats, happily going through life. Not a care in the world. Too bad it's all lies.
I'm tired of trying not to be in love with Ashley Kingston, our very own island jezebel. Some people think she's a slut. They think they know her. They're wrong. Screw them.
Reputations can be deceiving. I should know.
Small Town Scandal is a second chance, small town romance standalone novel and the fifth book in the Wingmen series. You do not have to read the other novels first.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2017Daisy Prescott's books are the perfect blend of in-depth, character-rich stories with humorous banter and situations, vibrant locales and memorable storytelling, and Small Town Scandal is no exception. The author weaves in an important life lesson throughout this beautiful, slow-burn romance, which actually, turns into something more - It's about how appearances and first impressions can be deceiving, and if we just take a minute to look under the surface, we find out the truth and so much more.
Small Town Scandal is written in male POV, and Ms. Prescott excels at this storytelling feature, but this book is just as much the hero's as it is the heroine's. On the surface, Carter seems like a cocky self-assured guy with no worries, yet underneath that exterior, lies a man with a heart of gold who sacrifices for his family. At a first glance, Ashley is seen as the island Jezebel, but she's a smart, career woman who owns her sexuality. Both main characters hold their vulnerabilities close - Carter doesn't feel he is good enough for Ashley and Ashley uses her sexuality as a defense mechanism to keep out emotions. These two have a lot to rediscover about one another, and Ms. Prescott has created a patient, hero who sees and excepts Ashley as she is - a passionate woman with a heart of fire.
The banter between Carter and Ashley is perfection. At first they are like are like porcupines when they are in the vicinity of each other - their quills come out ready to fight and defend, but gradually, layers are peeled away and the reader is able to see these two underneath their tough exteriors.
This is the fifth installment in Ms. Prescott's Wingmen series and all of these books take place on Whidbey Island off the coast of Washington. I love how Ms. Prescott has made this island its own character in each of these books. I love settling down and taking another visit to this small-town island each time I pick up a book in this series. I enjoy seeing my favorite characters from previous books. The secondary relationships in this book are just as good as the romance. I love how close Erik and Carter are as brothers, how Dan gives out advice and how John is the peacemaker - all of these characters feel like old friends.
Even though each book in the Wingmen series are interconnected, they each can be read as a standalone book. Ms. Prescott has created a deep, character-driven romance mixed in with just the right amount of humor to keep the reader smiling - I mean who doesn't smile when the main character is a goat herder? There is just enough conflict, though, that the story never feels weighs down or contrived. It's just right. It's a beautiful love story which shows that everyone deserves a second chance at life, love and happiness. I can't wait to see who is the focus of the next book in this series!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 13, 2021He had loved her forever and had let so many things get in his way to go after her, well no more!!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2017Remember your first love? Stolen kisses, butterflies in the stomach, goosebumps all over your body? Imagine getting a second chance at the great love you once lost. Friendship, romance and redemption are many of the things that make this book one I will never forget. Also, the very cute baby goats made Small Town Scandal my most favorite book of the series. A great summer read.
Carter Kelso is tired of playing the field in hopes to forget the one girl, who even after so many years still owns his heart, Ashley Kingston.
Ashley used to be the all American good girl. Carter and her were inseparable and totally in love when they were in high school. One day the unexpected happened, making everything around them fall apart. Those painful events thought Ashley a lesson, you can't please everyone. She decided that she was going to start living her life by her own terms, even if that new resolution would give her a bad reputation.
Bad reputation or not, Carter might be the only one in the small town who really knows Ashley, and he wants another shot at being with her. He will stalk her, romance her and even call upon the help of his very adorable goats to help him on his mission to win her back. At first Ashley is hesitant by Carter's intentions but the hearts wants what it wants, and she cant hardly resist the Goat Man. It been a long time since Ashley actually listened to heart; can she let go of the past and give into her feelings?
Ashley was once a bad girl. Remember the book, Confessions of a Reformed Tom Cat? She was that secondary character that got in trouble for being naughty. Well, I love that we got to live through her story, and I love that it actually ended up being my favorite book. Because I'm a firm believer of second chances, and hers was just spectacular. Everything about this book was wonderful, it was passionate yet tender, smart yet funny and truly unforgettable.
Make sure to check out this awesome series. They are all different and very special in their own way, but all so much fun to read. I enjoyed them all very much.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2017This is a sweet story, but it's not my favorite from the series. I feel like it was a bit lacking in story compared to the others. I do love the goat herder.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2019I live in a small town. This is so spot on. People forget nothing. Best of the series so far.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 30, 2017I was given this book as an Advanced Reader Copy but I honestly would have bought it even if I hadn't (and in fact, I did). This Wingman series has continually been funny and sweet and I will take any chance I get to dive back into these wonderful characters from Whidbey.
In small town scandal the readers are getting Carter and Ashley's story. I have to admit that I was not quite as interested in their match at first but after reading Daisy' s books to this point; I trust her to not only give me an amazing story but also give me a little something I wasn't expecting.
I really loved Carter. He is loyal and sweet and somewhat foolish at times but also completely determined to learn from mistakes. Ashley was the woman I hope to one day become in that she completely owns who she is. She is a strong, smart and fearless female lead and unapologetic to those who don't agree with her independence. Together they are magnetic and their back story is sweet. I was cheering on their happily ever after the entire time.
Of course, with their story came little cameos from our other Whidbey characters. I was happy to get current peeks into their lives and felt they added just the right amount of tension to the story. Also, with certain revelations about the near futures for three of the couples, I'm hoping for maybe a special short story.
In summary, the story is wonderful and heartfelt and everything you'd expect from Daisy Prescott.

3.0 out of 5 stars I could do without the foul language.u
Way too much foul language. It's entirely unnecessary and doesn't add anything to the story.
