“Let go for one night.”
“I thought I knew what love was, I didn’t have a clue until you.”
I do everything I can not to stare at him. But… I can’t help it. He’s too beautiful to look away from. I watch the way his chest heaves as he dances around the stage in perfect sync with the other guys. How his eyes scan the crowd but still make every woman think he’s looking right at her. It’s magnetic. He’s ridiculously sexy. Even in his forties.
“Will you be my once in a lifetime?” he asks…
I know this is the damn routine.
I’ve seen them in concert at least four times, twice in high school and twice in college, but I’m completely lost to him. There are over twenty thousand fans here, but in this instant… it’s him and me. A girl can dream.
His hand brushes against my cheek as he hits the final note. He helps me stand and then pulls me close. “Don’t go anywhere after the show,” he whispers in my ear.
“I’m serious. I want to know more about you,” he pushes for more.
“Why?” I ask with frustration. “You and I both know how this goes.”
He grips the back of his neck and lets out a heavy sigh. “How is that?”
“You’re going to go back to your lavish life, and I’ll be here…” I gesture around the room.
“Why are you fighting so hard to see me? I’m clearly pushing you away. What is making you keep coming back?” I ask.
He stops, rushes back up the stairs, and pulls me close. “Because you’re not like every other girl. You’re the first person I’ve met in what feels like forever who doesn’t seem to want something from me.” His hand pushes the hair back off my face. “You look at me like I’m just a guy, not a meal ticket. You’re gorgeous, stubborn, and there’s something more that I can’t explain. I’m not saying this will work, but I’m willing to take a chance and see what this is, are you?”
