Winger: Seattle Sharks, Book 3 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged

4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 2,978 ratings

One night. It was supposed to be one wild night with my friend - a fiercely sexy chef. Now, I can't stop thinking about her. Can't stop craving her flavor. And that was before I found out our no-strings night resulted in two little pink lines.

As the number one winger for the Seattle Sharks and the last man standing in our bad-boy trio, the only lines I'm familiar with are red and blue. But while hockey is my life, Jeannine branded herself on my heart. She's in so deep, I couldn't cut her out even if I wanted to.

What do I want? Everything.

She wants to do this on her own - she's never needed a man. The little bundle swelling her gorgeous body isn't going to change that. I've got three months to change Jeanine's mind - to prove I'm ready to trade the nightlife for dad life, but for once, my reputation off the ice isn't helping me score the girl. The harder I try, the higher she builds her walls.

The thought of losing them both is more terrifying than a career-ending injury. Our clock is running down, and if I can't prove that I'm all-in for her and our baby, our chance at forever will end in a shutout.

This time, I'm playing for keeps.

Contains mature themes.

Could not put book down until I finished it lots of hints of the next or future book with rookie also. The characters are real and sound like everyday people

This was a quick read for me, one I found hard to put down. Warren and Janine were so similar and although that could have worked against them, it allowed them to understand each other on a deeper level. They both had some insecurities to work out in their relationship and their lack of communication didn’t help the eventual blow up. But this wouldn’t be worth reading if there wasn’t something for Warren and Janine to overcome.

Janine and Warren have watched their best friends fall in love and because of that have grown comfortable with each other, as friends. They share a one-night- stand before Warren is set to leave for 6 months to play hockey on the Canadian national team at the Olympics. When he returns 6 months later, he finds out Janine got pregnant and did very little to let him know, thinking he didn’t care. Warren spends the next 3 months trying to show Janine that he wants to be in both her and the baby’s lives.

Warren was so patient and understanding. He loved Janine for awhile, but didn’t want to push her away so he kept it to himself. He didn’t allow Janine to push him away and he was so calm and level headed for most of the book. Janine had a lot of baggage to work through and although she wanted to trust Warren it was hard for her to view him as different than those in her past who had let her down.

I’m so glad these two eventually worked it out. They were perfect together and made an excellent team. I was sad this book had a lot less hockey than the first two books, but it was still a present theme.

Winger was a heartwarming story about letting go and opening yourself to new things, stepping out of your comfort zone. At least that is what it was for both Warren and Jeannine. Both independent (her more so than him), strong willed and determined to live a single life forever, with no commitments. A one night stand leads them down a road neither of them expected. It was nice to see them navigate it together, and Kudos to Warren for stepping up and being a wonderful Man about it all. The only issue I had, and I think it is due to personal reasons, I did not like how Jeannine kept insisting she would do it on her own and she did not want Warren to be in their lives. A lot of women out there do not get that choice, there are men who walk away and never look back. To see Warren wanting to be responsible and her being stubborn about it was off putting. I know, I know... she was protecting herself, not necessarily the baby if you think about it. She did not want to get hurt and was using the baby as an excuse. At least that was my take from it.
Anyway, I revert back to my initial statement this was a heartwarming and lovely story.

I couldn’t stand her character. Warren was amazing and doing everything he could to make her happy, but she was being so unreasonable! He was the perfect man and showed her how much he cared about her and the baby, but she kept letting her dumb fear take over everything. Communicate like a freaking grown up instead of making stupid assumptions about what the man is doing. I hate 3rd act breakups that result from miscommunication because one of the characters doesn’t have the common sense to just stop for a second and talk to the other person. I’m going to continue reading the series because I enjoyed the first 2 books, but I literally could not stand Jeanine in this one! I’ve never been so irrationally angry at a character in a book.

Warren was slam bam thank you mam until the night he spent with nine. That night grew in his heart for the next six months. Nine a wild child not looking for love was captivated in one night. Together they need to decide if they can be a family something Nine has never had.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE BOOK SO FAR! WARREN AND JEANNINE. IT DROVE ME A LITTLE CRAZY NOT KNOWING HOW TO PRONOUNCE HER NAME WHEN I READ IT, THOUGH. THE NICKNAME OF NINE. IS IT LIKE THE NUMBER, OR NEEN. WHICH IS HOW I WOULD IMAGINE THE END OF HER FULL NAME SOUNDS. ANYWAY, I HAVE ALL THE LOVE FOR WARREN. I'M A SUCKER FOR A SILENT H. I'M MUCH MORE OF A SHOWER THAN TELLER MYSELF. I'M NOT A BABY PERSON. I DON'T HAVE ANY, DON'T REALLY LIKE ANY, AND DON'T REALLY LIKE READING ABOUT THEM. THEY ARE A LITTLE BIT OF A CONSTANT WITH THIS AUTHOR, SO FAR. BUT, USUALLY AT THE END OF THE BOOK, SO MEH. THIS BOOK, I WASN'T SURE. I KNEW THE PREGNANCY WAS A BIG PART OF IT. IT DID NOT TURN ME OFF. I FELT LIKE IT WAS RATHER HONEST ABOUT IT. AS FAR AS, NINE THINKING SHE WAS UNATTRACTIVE. AND, WARREN'S CAVEMAN TAKING OVER AND BEING ANIMALISTICALLY ATTRACTED TO HER FOR IT. I LIKED HOW THE AUTHOR WAS HONEST ABOUT THEM BEING TIRED. AND, WORN OUT AND AT WITS END. I FEEL A LOT OF ROMANCE BOOKS, SEEM TO ROMANCE EVERYTHING! THE BIRTH WAS LOVELY, THE BABY SLEEPS AND NEVER CAUSES A FUSS, THE MOTHER NEVER FEELS BLOATED OR UNATTRACTIVE... THE HONESTY PORTRAYED HERE MADE ME APPRECIATE THE BOOK MORE. I READ SOME REVIEWS THAT PEOPLE HAD AN ISSUE WITH SOME OF NINE'S ACTIONS. I FEEL THEY WERE COMPLETELY UNDERSTANDABLE FOR HER SITUATION. MAYBE BECAUSE I FELT A CLOSE RELATIONSHIP TO HER. I CONSIDER MYSELF A VERY SELF CONTAINED WOMAN, WHO CAN TAKE CARE OF HERSELF. I HAVE FOUND MYSELF REACTING THE SAME WAY AS HER IN THE PAST. UNFORTUNATELY FOR ME, I DIDN'T HAVE PREGNANCY OR POSTPARTUM HORMONE'S TO BLAME IT ON. JUST ME BEING CRAZY! LOL
