Shrink-wrapped veggies, disposable coffee cups, clothes and electronics designed to be upgraded every year; we are surrounded by stuff that we often use once and then throw away. Each year the average household produces enough trash to fill a three-bedroom home, including thousands of dollars worth of food and an ever-increasing amount of plastic, which takes hundreds of years to break down and often ends up in our oceans or our food chain. But what to do about such a huge problem? Is it just the price we pay for the conveniences of modern life? What if it were possible to have it both ways - to live a modern life with less waste?
That's where Erin Rhoads, aka The Rogue Ginger, comes in. Erin went from eating plastic-packaged takeaway while shopping online for fast fashion, to becoming one of Australia's most popular eco-bloggers. Erin knows that small changes can have a big impact. In Waste Not she shares everything she's learnt from her own funny, inspiring—and far-from-perfect—journey to living with less waste.
This practical reference book is split into three parts: Where to start; How to reduce waste at home and in life; and On the road (sustainable work, travel, and activism). Including genuinely accessible and easy tips, this book is perfect for both the novice and the eco-aware.

A sought-after speaker and community activist, Erin is on a mission to engage with individuals to redefine what is waste and how we can create less of it.

Williams Boone and Assoc. Books delivered my book sooner than expected and was wrapped in a mailing envelope and box. This protected the flexbound book, which I appreciated. I would order from them again. The book is chockful of simple suggestions to make a difference in our everyday lives that will support a healthy environment and healthy selves.

It has changed my life! Kind of ruined it (LOL) because I now see wastefulness everywhere!! Great starting point!

Its very good and beautiful book
  • Reviewed in the United States on April 15, 2019
This is a beautiful, useful, comprehensive book. I asked for this book for my birthday, and my mom sent it to me. I am impressed by the content, the variety, the level of detail, the writing and editing, and the styling & photography. This book contains tons of how-to information, ideas and suggestions, and possible approaches to execution. One thing I find delightful is the recipes for DIY (or Make-it-yourself) cleaning products, toiletries and beauty products - recipes which are simple and will be easy to make. She also has a resources section, at the end, where she lists sites and stores that sell products in zero-waste or plastic-free packaging. Since I'm a busy mom, I will definitely be using some of these resources! This book is inspirational and instructional, and it will be a great resource for (hopefully) drastically reducing my household waste (especially plastic waste).

This book changed my life. I do not remember how I came across this book, but it has been a blessing. This book not only teaches you what plastic can do to you, the environment and eveything inbetween, but she shows you that anyone can make a difference. After reading this book, I have started the switch to a "Zero Waste" lifestyle. My home is now cleaner and healthier. I feel lighter and much happier. 100% must read!

Erin has such a lovely writing style and the book provides perspectives on trying to be zero waste that many people can relate to. Almost didn’t buy this because another reviewer talked about her wedding being a big part of the book and thought that wouldn’t appeal to my situation. Really glad I gave it a chance! Excellent and informative book...great for reference too. Love her writing style and thoroughly enjoyed the book!
