Anderson Bexley was the love of my life… or so I thought. For years, I convinced myself that one day he would see me as more than the bubbly activities director at his family’s campground. Sure, he was ten years older. Deeply tortured. And far too devoted to the family business to make time for his own happiness. But none of that mattered. Especially after one blissful night when he was all mine. I thought our forever had finally begun, but he broke my heart instead. A year later, I’m moving on. In a new city. At a new job. With a new man. Add in the fact that I just landed my first big account, and things can’t possibly get better. Until I hear my first client is none other than Anderson Bexley. Now, I’m heading back to a place I had once called home. Back to Camp Bexley. Back to him. Only this time, I’m determined to walk away on my own terms… with my heart intact.

I love a good small town second chance romance, so I was really excited to pick this one up. Hope left Camp Bexley a year ago for a bigger life in Seattle. She wanted to stay behind and be with Anderson, but he pushed her away and she left. Now, she's having an affair with her boss and it sent back to the camp to help with the camp's PR. The moment Anderson and Hope are back together, all of their feelings come rushing back and they have to confront how they left things. I really enjoyed how Anderson regretted his decision to cut off Hope and wanted to make it up to her. I was a little surprised when Hope was sleeping with her boss because that felt like it came out of nowhere and I wasn't excepting that. Of course, that means we have other man drama when Hope is back at the camp with Anderson. I would have loved to see more of the camp life and dynamic, but all of the book took place during the off season, so it was just Anderson and Hope at the camp together. I would have like to see a bit more of them with other people and with the actual camp, but this still was an emotional ride and I enjoyed their second chance!
Everyone loves a good small town second chance romance and I'm one of them. The feeling you get when the main characters cross paths for the first time in years is like a shot of adrenaline. Where do they go from there, how many scars did that person give them emotionally, and the one burning question that is always at the forefront in our minds: Do they still have that passionate love?
Anderson and Hope have always been there for each other over the past few years and their friendship was something to be envious about. Owning a camp can be a bit stressful at times but Anderson has always had Hope in his corner. That all changes when one night he says something that shreds their friendship and changes the course of their lives for the next year.
It's been one year since Hope left her heart on that campground and she's trying her best to move on. With a promising new career and living in a new city, Hope is finally starting to feel comfortable in her new life. When she lands a new manager account and is told that she'll be going back to her old camp to work on the rebranding for it, that sense of calm and comfort goes out the window. How do you let go of the past when the one thing you've always wanted is now asking you to stay?
Aside from a few hiccups and the back and forth that made me crazy, I enjoyed this one. I loved the connection between Hope and Anderson and you truly felt the passion and hurt between them. They both did things that were anger worthy but you were rooting for them and when it comes to story like these, that's what you truly want.
If you're a fan of second chance romance, then you're going to enjoy this one.
"That’s the problem with unrequited love. It doesn’t give back, even when you think you’re on the verge of something spectacular. It’s like looking into a one-way mirror , knowing in the depths of your soul that you’re standing in front of the one, but he never sees you in return. Still, you try. It’s an addiction. A trap. And the deeper you fall, the harder it is to climb your way out."
This book ruined me in the best possible ways. KK has always been one of my favorite authors, and it's this beautiful book that shows just why that is. I felt absolutely *everything*: the beautiful campgrounds, Hopes unrequited love, Anderson's pain, regrets and resentments, but all else I felt their love. Even when they were trying to deny what they felt, their passionate, breathtaking love absorbed every single page. It took my breath away so ferociously that I had to stop at times to breathe it in. Hope and Anderson shared a love we all yearn for, but few are lucky enough to grasp.
Hope has been in love with Anderson for the past three years, and she's just coming to terms that her feelings will never be reciprocated.. until Anderson crawls into bed with her one night and just as she thinks this will the thing that finally gives them hope (irony!) he shatters her heart in a few careless words. Fast forward a year later and Hope has a successful job at a huge marketing company and lands her first solo job -- but it's for the man who broke her heart so callously the year before. She's not the same person she used to be, and she's determined not to let her past get in the way with her future. She just never expected all the changes already headed for her.
Anderson had no idea Hope was the one who was in charge of his camps reopening, and he takes it as a sign that she's finally coming home and back to him, but he learns right away that the Hope he pushed away is not same Hope standing in front of him. He does everything he can to bring that woman back to him, and bit by bit she does, but that's not without all the emotional hurdles thrown their way. Anderson is trying to create something magical with the camp in hopes that it binds his fractured family back together only to realize his dream may be for nothing, and then there's his regret of the way he pushed away Hope. He's always loved her, and truly thought he was doing the right thing by setting her free. But once he let's down all his walls and let's her see the real him, and he starts opening up what he's feeling? Oh my, that Anderson just moved to the very top of my book boyfriend list. Just like this quote below:
“Saying goodbye to you was the death of me,” he rasps. “But you came back,” he continues. “And you brought me back to life at a time I needed it most. If you think I’m giving up on you now then you’re wrong. I get a second chance to show you exactly what you mean to me— and just how far I’ll go to keep you.”
Like seriously? How is this guy even real. (I refuse to acknowledge that he's a fictional character, ok, I love him too much.) And once he let his emotions overflow him, it was like second nature to communicate what he was thinking and feeling to Hope. He always had so many emotions locked inside of him, but letting that out just made me love him so much more. I'm all here for men being intune with their feelings. It's 2022, we don't hold that shit in anymore bros.
And Hope, my goodness I loved how she loved Anderson with everything in her, yet still wanted to make her own path career wise and not rely solely on a man. Even when she wanted to hate him she couldn't, but she was so cautious with her heart in fear of him breaking it again, but when they were both all in? Absolute fireworks!
"I’ll never forget this moment— a moment filled with what feels like a load of pent-up feelings finally being explored. We’re flying high, sizzling through the air in brilliant colors, making the darkest of nights come alive for the world to see."
This is easily one of my favorite reads of the year already and I can't wait to read what's next for the rest of the brothers!! Ya'll need to keep an eye on this series and on KK as well!
**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**
“With exquisite poetic prose and masterful heartstring manipulation, Allen once again sweeps us away into a heartbreaking yet hopeful romance you'll want to luxuriate in forever.” BookAddict

🏕 Unrequited love (all the angst)
🏕 Workplace (camp owner & marketing guru)
🏕 Beautiful small-town setting (Orcas Island, WA)
No one strings words together quite as beautifully as KK Allen. From start to finish I was entranced by her eloquent prose, her smart wit, and chemistry that sizzles from the page.
The Weight of Regret is an unrequited workplace romance starring Anderson and Hope. It has everything I love about a second chance romance without actually being one. But that instant chemistry that’s so addicting. The history that reveals itself as the story unfolds. The longing between our main characters. And the regret of not getting it right the first time that looms over our hero, makes you want to root for his second chance at love. His chance at redemption. I was so invested in this couples’ happily ever after. And you will be too.
Hope and Anderson’s story is one of deep seeded love. Of undeniable attraction. It’s passion and angst as only Ms. Allen can deliver. A poignant novel you don’t want to miss!
If you read Over the Moon, you will recognize the camp and Anderson and Hope. Both were like family to Silver and it was great to have Silver in the book here and there especially to give these two the push they needed.
Hope's always wanted Anderson and realized that while he has a lot on his plate, he also takes his time with things and she thought that included her, that is, until he makes her leave the camp and chase her dreams.
That's something that Anderson regrets and when the renovations and improvements to the Camp need some marketing, Silver hires Hope to get these two together.
Anderson is totally on board but Hope's pride and a sort of boyfriend holds her back. Luckily, Anderson is persistent.
I'm kind of on the fence with these two. I think I needed more time before for things to have had a greater impact. Anderson was going 100+ mph with his feelings and it was a lot. Especially when we get some hindsight about his brothers.
The drama(s) were a bit over the top but I did love how it brought the family together. Jamison's book is up next, Moment in Time, coming out June 22.
I LOVED Fired Up in the Bayside Heroes series collaboration that K.K. Allen did with Tia Louise, Kandi Steiner and Harloe Rae. It was my first read from K.K. Allen, so I was excited for the chance to read an advanced copy of her next upcoming novel since I enjoyed my first read so much.
My regret is how much time I spent hoping to connect and then even like anything about Weight of Regret, and ultimately loathing everything I had read.
I did not care for Hope or Anderson. I could not believe the utterly arrogant, condescending, harassing, HR nightmare, blackmailing, douchebag Dexter (Hope's boss and "fling") that somehow wasn't brought to justice by #metoo or the complete B* that is Hope's co-worker Mallory. And Anderson's brother and father (and how causally past child abuse he inflicted is brushed aside WTF!?)—does no one in this story have any redeemable qualities!?
There's more angst and up and down emotions than a teen melodrama filled with repetitive self-doubt, self-loathing, self-deprecation. These characters are in their late 20s and late 30s! It also feels like history is missing that would only make sense if you'd read the story mentioned in the back for Silver (Anderson's honorary sister?), Over the Moon.
To say I had issues with Weight of Regret is an understatement. I cannot recommend it nor will I continue the series. It's disappointing to go from such high praise for one read to wanting to DNF the second.
“Weight of Regret” follows the story of Anderson Bexley and Hope Davies. Anderson is the owner of Camp Bexley. Anderson has worked hard to keep the camp in good condition, it is a priority for him and it holds a very special meaning for him. Hope Davies has had a crush on him ever since she came to camp, when she was 22 years old; however, it has been unilateral. When a job opportunity in which she can fulfill her professional dream, she leaves the decision in Anderson’s hands. A year later Hope returns to camp now as a representative of a major marketing company in Seattle. Empowered and determined to fulfill a purely professional goal, she hopes that her feelings for Anderson have faded but as soon as she sees him again she realizes that they haven’t. For his part, Anderson, realizing his mistake, now tries to recover Hope's love.
Unrequited love is a trope that I enjoy because of the angsty and reading the whole process that involves the falling in love of the characters involved. In this case from the prologue I knew I would suffer and I really suffered but I must say that it was not the way I expected. Hope has a radical change after she leaves Orcas Island. I will not give details so as not to spoil, but I will tell you that she intends to forget Anderson and focus on her professional career. That leads to another situation which was not much to my liking but I understand Hope, and the circumstances. Once she returns to the camp, she rethinks everything, because yes, she changed and does not allow her feelings to get in the way of her professional success. Anderson is a hermetic and lonely man. We can witness the unconventional relationship he has with his brothers. Anderson Bexley has a very big load and works on it to open up with Hope and make their relationship work. Even though I had some doubts with Hope, I absolutely loved Anderson. I enjoyed reading and was also super excited by the appearance of a certain character. And what about the Bexley brothers! I'm dying to read Jami's story!
KK Allen has delivered yet another captivating and swoon-worthy novel. I was pulled in to the tumultuous relationship between Anderson & Hope from the Prologue and never stopped cheering for them. Their connection and chemistry is undeniable, and I loved how each of them had the chance to grow and develop throughout their story.
Anderson is so stuck in the past that he has a hard time envisioning his future, but he knows Hope has to be a part of it, no matter what. The way he loved, respected and admired her was so swoon-worthy. And Hope - I loved this heroine!! She is bold, sassy, and is determined to make her life decisions all on her own. The way in which she handled Anderson made me want to stand up and cheer for her in the end.
The setting of this book took me right back to some of my other favorites by this author and I loved every second of it - imagining the lake, the fields, the cabins, and Anderson's brothers who I AM DYING FOR!! KK Allen set the foundation for what I am sure is a fantastic series to come. Well done once again!
Welcome to Camp Bexley! Anderson and Hope met, and exceeded, any and all expectations I had for their story. He pushed her away and she ran, setting up a reunion that was full of the unsaid…
Told from both points of view, each character was relatable, highly likable and deserved the love they both craved so much. Even if past hurts and obstacles meant they were going to fight it the whole way… Full of angst galore and a back and forth that set the stage for revelations and secrets to be slowly, tantalizingly shared, the pace was perfect as their relationship rebuilt one steamy, aggravated moment at a time.
This author’s stories never fail to deliver the goods and Anderson and Hope shined as a result. So good! ~Diane, 5 stars
Read date : 02/16/22 • This had the potential to be my favorite second chance romance with all the elements I enjoy: a groveling hero and a reunion trope. However, the cheating aspect caught me off guard, and the way it was handled dampened my interest in the main characters, Anderson and Hope.
To put it simply, the book started with Hope feeling undeniable lust for her boss, engaging in an office fling. The difference here is, this wasn't the hero. It's with Dexter - the OM. But then she quickly moves on to her past love, Anderson, while still keeping Dexter, in the picture. This constant shifting of romantic interests and justifications for cheating didn't sit well with me.
Furthermore, the excuses made for the cheating were absurd, and I couldn't help but feel that if the roles were reversed, it would be seen as unacceptable. The inconsistency in Hope's feelings and actions towards Dexter and Anderson became increasingly frustrating.
While Dexter may have had his flaws, Hope's treatment of him and the portrayal of him as a villain seemed unfair. Even when Dexter learned about her and Anderson, he didn't fire her, yet Hope and Anderson remained ungrateful.
Overall, the cheating and OM drama could have been better indicated in advance, as it affected my enjoyment of the book, even during the moments between Anderson and Hope. • • I voluntarily reviewed an early complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Anderson owns and runs a summer camp style camp ground that he grew up apart of, since it was his families. He is now the last left of his siblings (and parents) to stick around and decide to revamp the whole camp.
Hope works for the marketing firm that Anderson hires to assist in his re-opening. And, it just so happens she knows the camp, and Anderson, very well, since she worked there for a few years. Making her the perfect person for the job.
There are massive feelings are invoked inside of you from the first page. The words that flow just instantly captivate you and you know it’s a love story that’s going to hurt you and heal you. There is a past with these two that’s so innocent and pure and one that you just want to see explored. However, there is a lot of hurt and healing needed.
I grew up going to a summer camp on the same island chain that this book took place on, so for me it was super nostalgic. I can visually be taken right there with them and love every second. Not only that but KK Allen just has a way with words. She described everything so perfectly, and allows feelings and emotions to stir up in me so easily. I felt a true connection to this book and characters.
AND…. this isn’t the end of this series. It will be interconnected with the other Bexley brothers getting stories, and I just can’t wait!
The moment this book was announced it became one of my most anticipated reads of the year! Ms.Allen has become one of my go to authors. It made my book loving heart so happy to dive into this story! Once i started reading it everything else faded away and this story consumed my thoughts so completely. I absolutely loved it so much!
Hope and Anderson's journey hooked me as well as my heart from the get go and didn't let go! I absolutely adored these two! The realness that poured from these two characters truly got to me. I related to both of them. Their story made me feel every single emotion and brought tears to my eyes. Their connection was beautiful. Getting to peel back their layers and get the truths of their hearts was such a fantastic experience.
From the cast of characters to Camp Bexley, i could picture it all so vividly in my mind with every single word!
It's such a beautiful thing, to fall so in love with a book you want to savor it and devour it all in one sitting at the same time like i did with Weight of Regret. I found something so special within the pages of this story that made me sit back and look at my own life.
With Weight of Regret, Ms.Allen has created such an amazing, moving, and unforgettable read that has forever left it's mark on my heart! Her writing hits you in the soul with ALL of the feels! This is hands down one of my favorite reads of the year! It's my new favorite of hers as well! All the stars and love to this book! ❤️
I cannot wait for more of the Bexley brothers!
So find your favorite blanket, grab your favorite drink and snack (maybe some s'mores), and settle in for your journey to Camp Bexley! You won't regret it! 😉
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Wildfire Marketing Solutions / the author*
"I'd let her leave when I only ever wanted her to stay."
Anderson Bexley believes that everyone leaves. His pessimistic view leads to Hope Davis leaving him and his campground business for new adventures and city life. Hope didn't want to leave but she needed to move on because she believed that Anderson would love her back. One year later and she's unexpectedly back at Camp Bexley for her job. Anderson is full of regret at pushing Hope away and he's determined to keep her this time around. However, things are a little bit complicated for Hope.
"You've been engrained in me since the day we met. This is my attempt to engrain myself in you. Mind, body, soul."
This was a beautiful book and a fab intro to the rest of the Bexley family novels still to come. Anderson is one tortured soul. A tragedy from the past and subsequent fallout has him believing that nobody stays. He's left managing his family's campground business, fully hoping that all his family will one day return. I really felt for him and his issues. I was thrilled by his sexy alpha side and dirty mouth! He and Hope were so in sync and had an undeniable rapport. Hope had grown in confidence during her year away, but her love for Anderson never died, even though she tried desperately to move on. I loved how accomplished she'd become, but the connection and desire between her and Anderson was palpable. These two were super-hot together! Absolutely loved this story!
With exquisite poetic prose and masterful heartstring manipulation, Allen once again sweeps us away into a heartbreaking yet hopeful romance you'll want to luxuriate in forever. I really thought she couldn’t top the previous book in this series, but holy wow, was I ever wrong!
Anderson Bexley runs Camp Bexley where he and his siblings grew up. They each had an affinity for different areas of the camp and a lifelong dream to take over the camp together when their parents decided to retire. Sadly, when tragedy struck, most of the siblings scattered in the wind, leaving the full responsibility of the camp on Anderson.
But Anderson had some fantastic help from his activities director, Hope Davies, who was so much more than that simple title. Camp Bexleiy was the first real home Hope had ever known. She learned valuable skills, became a confidante for Anderson, and tried for three years to ignore her unrequited love for him.
Except Hope made the mistake of looking at a job in the big city. When Anderson found out about the job interview, he strongly encouraged Hope to take the job. That's all it took to destroy the fragile thread of hope that Anderson would finally realize and even return Hope's feelings for him.
A year later, Hope is an up-and-coming marketing wiz and finally has her own account. But it’s for Camp Bexley's reopening campaign, which neither she nor Anderson realize when the deal is struck. Hope may be returning to her beloved home, but she's nothing like the naïve, bubbly, girl who left there broken hearted. And after a year, Anderson is crystal clear on what he lost but determined to win Hope back.
Okay, that was a really long explanation, but you have to know, this story is full of so much pain, loss and heartbreak. There’s such need for forgiveness and healing – between siblings, between Anderson and Hope, but especially finding that for oneself. There are demons to slay, walls to break down, and fences to mend.
Oh, my heart, this one destroyed and ruined me in the most wonderful way! Hope and Anderson have a challenging journey to forever, and it's heartbreaking, entertaining, and glorious. They'll steal your heart before you even know it, and you'll love every second you live within their story. One of my all-time favorite reads, these two own permanent real estate in my heart, so run to the 1-Click and start reading their poignant, phenomenal, unforgettable story today!
K.K. Allen is a magician when it comes to second chance romance and Weight of Regret shows her brilliance perfectly. Swoony. Angsty. Sizzling hot. Hope and Anderson are all kinds of perfection.
Hope found her second home working in Camp Bexley and her heart belonged to Anderson Bexley, the moody brooding owner of the camp. But Anderson didn't reciprocate her feelings and she fled to Seattle with a broken heart. She is now part of the city life working hard for her dream career. She didn't know her next big project will send her back to Camp Bexley. And Anderson won't let her go again as he is tired of hiding his feelings.
K.K. Allen brings all the sweet angst in Weight of Regret. Hope and Anderson had to go through a lot of heartbreak and confusing feels. And the author showed us all the intense parts so beautifully. My heart is full and aching. Hope is a sweet and kind and amazing woman. She stood by Anderson when he was struggling alone with his issues and all the responsibilities of the camp. Her loyalty and devotion to Anderson is unquestionable. But I loved how she used her heartbreak to fuel her life. She is so smart and talented and definitely knows her own worth. Anderson would melt your heart and panties. He carries so much sadness and darkness and pain inside and my heart was really breaking for him. I am a goner for the brooding alpha man. His anger and guilt held him back from admitting his true feelings. But when he did..it was so heartfelt. This story is full of twists and it was not an easy journey. And the steam? So hot! It was full of passion for sure. Anderson and Hope have a soul deep connection and every page shows that.
Ps: Let me know if you love the "villain" too. I am excited for more Camp Bexley.
K.K. Allen never fails to exceed my expectations. Once again, I find myself a bit speechless after finishing one of her books.
Weight of Regret is an emotional, angsty punch that sent me reeling. I couldn’t get enough of Hope and Anderson. The tension and feels are off the charts! Toss in some suspenseful drama and secondary character meddling, plus the author’s exquisite prose, and you have a beautiful romance eager for a happy ending. The struggle is real with this one—as in losing sleep to finish b/c you can’t leave the story hanging.
This is an unrequited, workplace romance you MUST READ for 2022!
5 HEARTWARMING STARS!! This one was heartwarming...my heart loved every word in this story. The feels were off the charts in every direction. Anderson and Hope travel an emotional ride that will stick with you forever. This author has given us another phenomenal story, that must be read.
Weight of Regret by K.K. Allen is a angsty journey of not-quite unrequited love between Camp Bexley owner Anderson Bexley and his former employee and friend Hope Davies. I first met these two characters in Over the Moon, the 4th book in the BelleCurve series and knew that they would have a heartacheing but beautiful story if they were to get one. Now it's here and it did not disappoint.
Anderson and Hope just have that connection that tells their soul- everything will be alright if their person is there. They appear at first to be opposite kinds of personalities. Anderson is a bit broody and carries the weight of his family on his shoulders while he also has moments where he is fun and light. Hope on the other hand seemed like the eternal optimist and had that sunshine personality that could make anyone fall in love with her. But the layers and struggles/secrets that each of them hold deep inside feed insecurities that both broke them apart to begin with while also being part of the catalyst that reunites them.
There is just so much to love here. K.K. Allen has a way with her story writing that immerses me into her worlds and I just want to stay- even knowing that I will face all kinds of angst and drama before piecing my heart back together. I love the growth curve of Hope- she left Camp Bexley as a little lovesick puppy and while she came back a hardened more cynical version of herself. It's the more confident yet soft version of Hope that she grows into once returning to Orcas Island that I adore. Anderson gave me chills- his hangups over their age difference (only 10 years) as well as other things stood little chance once he finally had her back in sight after pushing Hope away. The pull is too strong for either of them to deny despite the distance they had for the last year. Their chemistry was electric and made for some steamy moments that packed quite some heat.
I'm not one for cheating in a story- and there is a bit of a gray area in this story. Hope has a steady hook-up partner who was looking for more with her, while she was not on the same page. She does end things but not before things had progressed slightly already with Anderson. So while I don't necessarily love the little overlap I also wasn't too disturbed about it since the other guy was pretty douchey and it felt like more of a power thing than the guy having genuine feelings toward Hope.
The twists and half clues speckled in throughout this story has me waiting on edge for more of these Bexley brothers. Each one will come with their own deep scars, insecurities and drama and I will be here for it!
I knew I was going to love this book. I mean I love all of K.K. Allen's books.
Anderson and Hope OMG! I love their chemistry. K.K. brought the spice with this small town romance. The words flow like poetry and I couldn't stop once I opened the book. I always fall in love with her characters. K.K. has a way of making you feel like her characters are your best friends and their stories are so relatable. Camp Bexley! I want to pack my bags and go visit. The only thing I wish I had while reading this book was a campfire! GAH!! A must read!!
“If he breaks my heart, he breaks his own. They beat together now.”
Weight of Regret is poetic story of love, forgiveness, acceptance and coming home. Anderson and Hope’s story is angsty, emotional and so captivating. From the first word to the last, you will be swept away in this tragically beautiful love story.
“That’s the problem with unrequited love. It’s like looking into a one-way mirror, knowing in the depths of your soul that you’re standing in front of the one, but he never sees you in return.”
When Hope leaves Camp Brexley to escape her unrequited love for Anderson, she vows to leave him behind forever. But when her new job as a marketing executive sends her back to the camp, will she be able to resist the place and the man who feel like home?
“She was the one. The only one I’d ever felt could make my dimly lit world a better place, and I pushed her away as though she didn’t even matter.”
From the moment Hope left, Anderson knew that he had made a huge mistake. The woman who has returned is not the same one that left and he’s determined to find the woman he knows is buried underneath the professional exterior.
“I see you, Anderson Bexley. I see your heart, and I see your intentions.”
My heart broke for both Hope and Anderson throughout this book. They both were broken and needed each other to heal the holes in their hearts. I loved the growth of both characters and how they were stronger together than apart. They truly saw each other and supported one another even when the choices were painful.
“We’re one—one breath, one heart, one body—and when one of us falls…we fall together.”
K.K. Allen has written an enchanting story that will break your heart and then mend it back together again. Anderson and Hope are such a perfect match and I loved their story. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the rest of Brexley brothers.
I really didn’t see the point of this book. The MMC was unnecessarily angsty over what amounted to his lack of communication skills and cowardice. While he had an interesting back story, I didn’t feel like it explained away the drama of his relationship with the FMC. His begging for her to not leave him and to stay was sweet to read but none of it was worth this long of a story.
As for the FMC I felt like she had no convictions. She waited on the MMC to give her a chance for three years while never really asking for it that whole time. Then in less than a year she is in a relationship with another man that honestly was not nice to her at all on page. Only in a blip of a memory did she claim he had a sweet side, but I never saw it on page. My point is that she was lying to herself that he was worth her time and body all while still thinking of the MMC and how he was the one. If he was the one WHY was she smexying the OM/boss so easily while NEVER trying for THREE years with the MMC?!? Only to then in less than a week be with the MMC.
On top of that, some scenes were just corny or out right stupid. Like the FMC’s confrontation with the MMC in his office where she put her foot on his chest. What is that supposed to mean!!?? Was it an “I am woman hear me roar”, intimidation move? Or a “please f#€k me because I’m making it SUPER easy for you”, kind of move?!? Like I said, corny and stupid.
The MMC was a wussy with a capital “P”, but it wasn’t worth this whole book. He should have been a side character in his brothers books. I would like to read Jamison’s & Violet’s because that’s OBVIOUSLY where the author is going, and a mild interest in the other brothers. But only if Jamison’s story turns out better than this one. If it’s as blah as this one I won’t continue reading this author. She glosses over all interesting plots in the story and then focuses too much on a dragging out drama for immature adults.
It wasn’t long after Hope started working at Camp Bexley before Anderson owned her heart even if it is wasn’t returned. A few years later she believed that she may finally claim the man of her dreams only to have it come crashing down and the only thing she could do was leave. She has built a new life for herself until her career leads her back to the Cap and Anderson.
Anderson had his reasons for what he did, and it wasn’t because he didn’t love her. Finding out that she has been assigned to manage the PR campaign for the camp forces her go back and face her past and Anderson. She is determined to keep their relationship strictly professional while he wants to make it very personal, and the battle is on.
There is so much more to Anderson than first appears and everything we learn about him and his motivations only captivates us more while Hope shows us how strong and resilient she truly is. The chemistry between them is hot, the emotions run deep and seeing them acknowledge their love for each other is everything you could want and more.
Book 1 in Camp Bexley Series (Spin-off of BelleCurve series)
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
A year after Anderson Bexley breaks Hope’s heart the unexpected happens. She is hired to return to Camp Bexley to help with the Grand Reopening. Will Anderson get a second chance to win Hope’s heart?
Book: Pros…. 💜Age Gap 💜Forced Proximity 💜Workplace Romance Cons… ☠️Dexter ugh what a horrible character, but that’s who he is so 🤷♀️
Another book to love by KK Allen. I mean I may be a little biased as I have loved every book of hers, but I can’t wait to read more of the Bexley Brothers after getting each of their little snippets.
This book is the start of a new series, but also a spin-off of her BelleCurve series. I loved to see Hope grow and stand up for herself as well as the growth of Anderson. Can be read as a stand-alone but I recommend starting with the BelleCurve series, this new series gets its main start in Over the Moon (book 4 in Belle Curve Series).
The thing about regret is that it weighs heavily when you think about what would have, could have, should have been. For Hope, it was a whole lot of unrequited love and rejection or so she thought. The story was told in first person POV, which gave insight into the thoughts of both main characters. Turns out they both had feelings for each other, but Anderson had issues of his own to work through. Imagine the surprise they both got when each found out who they would be working with. It was like fate had a hand in giving them a second chance to right some wrongs. This story was more than a second chance at love. It was a reconnection of friends, forgiveness and healing, and understanding the value of partnership and communication. KK Allen made me cry about these characters and the revelations they shared.
I received an advance copy of this book at my request and voluntarily left this review.
A beautifully written story full of emotion and heart and soul and so much sadness.
We loved Hope from the moment we met her, she was kind and loving and wore her heart on her sleeve, a genuine person who had a ton of love to give. Her life was tragic but, she remained a survivor as well as a giving and loving soul.
Anderson the bad boy, the untouchable who didn't see what was right in front of his face, and then it's too late. The one woman who could comfort and sooth the demons, he threw away with a second glance. Insecurities? Demons? Guilt? Whatever it was forced, the woman who own his soul to hate him and the only thing she wanted to do was love him.
Hope and Anderson's story is about second chances and meddling sisters, it was also about forgiving oneself and moving forward. Loved that even though Hope changed and grew and became successful, she remained the simple Hope under all that polish, the Hope we fell in love with.
Anderson and Hope make an awesome couple, we loved the chemistry and the easiness between them. Whether it is fate or meddling, it's time to bear it all if you want to win the woman who is your, owns your soul as well as your heart once and for all. This couple had a lot of ups and downs and more than a few complications along the way, but, we were rooting for them all the way hoping they can put the past behind them as they truly make a beautiful couple and their chemistry is undeniable.
Looking forward to the next book in the series. First time author for us, and we loved our first read by them, such a touching story that tugged on one's heart strings.
KK has done it yet again. I can always count on her for an emotional and angsty read and this book does not disappoint! This is a second chance romance centering around Hope and Anderson. It takes place at Bexley camp which is where we met Siver and Kingston in Over the Moon. Hope was a former employee who hid her feelings from older Anderson until on fateful night when he approaches her about her seeking new job opportunities. Fast forward one year and Hope is liviing her dream in Seattle with a fantastic marketing job when fate intervenes and she finds herself back at camp Bexley working on a rebranding. Anderson has regrets stemming from the night he let Hope walk away from his camp and once she is back he isn't sure he can let her go again, one little problem, she isn't unattached. Hope is having a hard time keeping her past feelings for Anderson at bay and this project has thrown them into an impossible situation. This book has all the feelings you have come to expect from KK. I was happy and sad, angry and frustrated all before the halfway point. We also get introduced to Jami, Andersons brother who brings with him a sadness and hopefulness at the same time. We see the bigger picture through both Anderson and Jami about what camp Bexley means to them and their family. This book is a stand-alone that will be part of an interconnected series and I hope we get to meet all the Bexley brothers. Do yourself a favor if you love steam, angst, age gap and second chance romance and read this book asap!
Love that’s all Hope has ever desired from Anderson but the man is unreachable! The small moments between them she treasures but more doesn’t seem in their future! After a painful night of realization Hope leaves the place she calls home and Anderson is left to pick up the pieces of his mistakes!
Anderson is closed off to love because he feels unworthy but when his mistakes come back to haunt him he is going to do all he can to show Hope that he’s a changed man and she belongs with him!!
I loved the beautiful journey of growth that Hope and Anderson went through! It was so tough and very emotional but both had to go through the tough to get to the good! Hopes sunny deposition is what I love about her! She is such a light and I loved seeing her take her place in the world and become such a fierce woman! Don’t get me wrong Anderson is amazing and I loved his beautiful heart but Hope just steals the show for me! Even when her light went a little dim she was still a strong female that I couldn’t help but admire!
These two though push some boundaries and their chemistry is off the charts! The heat and sexy times are a 10!! If I could I’d give this book the whole universe of stars because it deserves them all!
Oh where to begin!! K.K. Allen truly knows how to captivate her readers from start to finish with her stories.
Weight of Regret is an angsty and emotional ride that I could not get enough of. I loved Hope and Anderson so incredibly much.
Hope and Anderson's story is a second chance at redemption and it's riddled with many bumps along the way. They both grow in this book in different ways. Hope finally understands her worth and what she wants. Anderson understands that he can't make decisions for other people because he think it's best.
Readers will be able to feel the tension rolling off the pages as they read this book. I could not put it down once I started.
K.K. keeps her readers vested in this story and keeps us right at the edge with the suspense and drama that unfolds. I am anxiously awaiting for the rest of the Bexley brothers to get their stories. 😉
