About the author

Amazon #1 Bestselling Author and a Readers' Favorite Gold Medal winner.
A veteran of the corporate rat-race, John W. Mefford never realized he was mentally documenting every experience of his professional journey—not until he started his first novel during a so-called "corporate timeout."
A voracious reader of mystery-thrillers since before he could shave, John enjoys weaving a twisty tale that keeps readers riveted until the last page. He's also learned he's pretty good at embellishing. Just don't tell his fourth-grade teacher.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 7, 2020This ending...the story...what!!!! I don’t think I have ever read a book that killed that many important characters at one time let alone in the last book...it was freaking diabolical. The whole book was a sitting on the edge of seat feeling waiting for the next loss or shock. It was crazy and crazy good!!
The whole story had surprises and questions for each character. Alex, Ivy and Ozzie all face losses and must work quickly to stop more loved ones and friends from being harmed or killed. Several moments had my heart dropping and thinking “no no no” and then racing again when a loop was thrown.
Alex remains the main character, but this book and the wrap up of all three series really showed the depths of loss and harm and perseverance that these three have experienced. They are all bada**, amazing strong characters that have taken me for one heck of a literary adventure. Brad, Nick, Stan, Brooke and Nicole have a role in this series that should not be understated and as this story progresses undervalued..because they also deal with and hav Edelman with some major losses in this series while also having some major heroic moments.
This series or set of series for Alex, Ivy and Ozzie is fantastic. I enjoyed all the books and found the ideas of the cases as well as the overarching storyline that I just finished to be creative, entertaining and quite unique. Well done, well done indeed!
- Reviewed in the United States on February 9, 2023This was an intense, complex, and suspenseful thriller that had many horrific murders, caused a lot of grief, and kept everyone on the run trying to figure out what was going on. There were many unexpected twists, some that exposed surprising secrets from the past, as well as from the present. It's definitely a series that you'll want to read!
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 17, 2018I have devoured the previous books in the Redemption Series as soon as they were released, but I had to take this one a bit slowly. Too many familiar characters from the series were being slaughtered with over half of the book having random carnage slung at us. Our team of Alex, Ozzie and Ivy aren't really investigating, they're either consumed by grief or just plain bewildered. Their only active involvement occurs when they are forcibly taken to a final confrontation with the mastermind and we get a few out of the blue revelations. A really good book, but just not my favorite in the series although it was great to revisit the characters from this series.

More than Explosive!!!!!!!!
At Full Tilt is the best book of all the 24 books in tis series. Saying it comes in with a bang is too simple. To say it is explosive still does not describe it. Perhaps NUCLEAR is more apt. Previous books have surprised me in both good and "sad" ways, but this one outdoes them all. Everyone who is close to Alex Troutt is being killed. Ozzie and Ivy help solve the mystery, but at what cost to them? This book has more twists and turns thanI have ever seen in a book. You WILL NOT see what is coming at the end of this book. If you are new to John Mefford's books, start from book one and read in order. You certainly won't be disappointed.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2019A big time thriller that's for sure. I sort of figured out a few books back that Ozzie and Ivy were twins and in one of the books I thought some how Alex is related to Ivy. What I don't understand is why he always has the main characters getting hurt and die. So far only one minor character has died and none injured. Also, sometimes an author puts in some stupid part that insults a readers intelligence. This book had that when Chistina c
- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2018If I could give this book zero stars, I would. Not because it was a poorly written, boring book with an uneventful plot. No, not that. It was one of the best reads that I've read this year! It's because it's the final book in Mefford's Redemption Series!!! I don't want it to end! Okay, enough with the exclamation points. Alex is bumfuzzled about why those close to her are ending up dead or hurt. Why other's are not telling her the truth. It's not until the final few chapters that she finally puts the pieces of the puzzle together, but by that time, is it too late? It just might be! I said in an earlier review that I wanted to be like AT when I grow up, however I've changed my mind. I think AT can stand on her own two legs just fine. Here's hoping she just keeps on making sure she does! My hat's off to you, John Mefford. I have read every single one of your Redemption Series books, and each one has gotten better and better. "AT Full Tilt" takes the cake, though. It's the BEST!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2018I just finished reading At Full Tilt. Wow! What a thrill ride this book was! There were times I was actually feeling ill, and afraid to turn the page, wondering what horrible thing was going to happen next to Alex and her friends and family. It was especially terrifying to me when Ivy ended up ... in a scary situation I won't reveal - no spoilers here!
What an intense, fantastic ending to what has been an amazing set of intertwined stories. I never saw the connections coming... so hard to write this without spoilers! All in all, an excellent, exciting, satisfying wrap up to an already awesome series.
Although I will miss Alex, Ozzie, and Ivy, I'm looking forward to meeting the characters in Mefford's new series. Hope he doesn't make readers wait too long!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 2, 2021I read the entire series, and really enjoyed it. This book was full of twists and turns. I recommend reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars AT a loss for words...
Holy mackerel! That was quite the upheaval! So many twists, I feel like a pretzel! Don't read this book if you thought John was going to go easy on Alex, Ozzie or Ivy. Our trio is raked over the coals in this story. Be prepared for a lot of angst, anxiety, and anger. It is worth it in the end. It sure is a bumpy road getting there!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Shaken but not dead."
We have travelled a long way with the people - and yes, they do feel like people, not just characters in a book - since first meeting Alex Troutt in book one, At Bay. There's A!ex herself, an FBI agent who first lost her memory, then her husband, and struggled at times to combine family and work. Later, there's Ivy, who'd endured foster home after foster home, suffering abuse then and torturous attacks later, her life dedicated to trying to protect children. And, finally, Ozzie, a young lawyer whose comfortable life was wrenched away when his adoptive father died leaving him without job or money, and no home, either, when his beloved wife abandons him.
During the series, each has grown, endured, changed, made and lost friends, including getting to know each other. Now, it seems, it will all come tumbling down as, all around them, friends and loved ones begin to die.
With his excellent ability to create atmosphere and character as well as simple action, Mr.Mefford brings a crescendo of an ending to an outstanding series.
One word of warning to anyone not yet familiar with the series: start at the beginning, or at least with book 19, At Stake, the beginning of the fourth quarter and the return to the Alex Troutt focus: you will not be disappointed. Get to know these people, live with them through the crime and problems and occasional joys that beset their lives. Then the full impact of this grand finale will really strike home.
I will be sorry to say goodbye.
Recommended. Both this book, At Full Tilt, and the whole Redemption series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heart hammering action
At Full Tilt is truly the best of the series. The three main characters of the series are brought together in this grande finale in the most unexpected way. Hold your breath, close your eyes then restart your heart! This could be a stand alone read but why would you ever cheat yourself...start with book 1 and read the series...you won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars AT Full Tilt
OH MY GOD! I knew it! I bloody knew it!!
I called it all those books ago and this has been one helluva ride to get this point. My suspicions were right and I'm not going to tell you but this was a bitter sweet read firstly as it was the last in an amazing series and secondly for me, as both my dad and myself have enjoyed reading this series, but sadly he passed away before he got a chance to read this one.
From the very start of this series we have been met with such strong characters in the form of Alex, Ivy and Ozzie and we have seen our fair share or murder and carnage. We have come to love each of them as if they were our own family and cried, laughed and mourned right along with them.
In this last instalment everything comes full circle and the deaths of those closest to Alex, Ivy and Ozzie see's some revelations from a madman they thought was safely locked away, who is hell bent on destroying those who put him away.
This series as a whole has been one huge emotional rollercoaster, but this last book really takes it to that - edge of your seat, cant stop reading - next level, where you are actually fearing for your favourite characters even more. If you have read the previous books then you do not want to miss this one!
I cant wait to see what Mefford has in store for us now....

5.0 out of 5 stars Mefford keeps them coming
Mefford throws everything at you in this book. You will run through all your emotions. He gives you solid real characters to cheer for, cry with and identify with. This “situation” was a little grandiose.
