What a fantastic prequal to Tripp and Jolie's story!
Wow! I am beyond blown away with Tara Leigh’s storytelling abilities. Throne of Lies is a prequel to Legacy of Lies… it’s a novella—a quick read—but one that will leave you absolutely DYING to get your hands on Legacy of Lies! I considered myself to be truly blessed to get the chance to read an advanced reader copy of the book for my blog and didn’t have to wait between the releases to read these books. Honestly, having read them, it would have been straight up torture to wait for the release of Legacy of Lies.I loved everything about Throne of Lies… and I do not usually like novellas. Yet, the story, the characters—Tripp and Jolie—and the emotions of the story were outstanding. Tara Leigh is a gifted storyteller and her skills as an author are apparent even in the 100(apx) pages that is Throne of Lies. The quality of the writing is beautiful, and I read both books back to back and straight through the night because I was so captivated. There were a few key differences between Throne of Lies and Legacy of Lies. Throne of Lies is a sexy, slow burn young adult romance. It takes place 10 years before Legacy of Lies which is a second chance, enemies-to-lovers romance. The angst of Throne of Lies is lighter but the emotions are still strong and well developed between Tripp and Jolie. Also, while you can read Legacy of Lies as a standalone, Throne of Lies is not a standalone - the conclusion to Tripp and Jolie's romance requires you to read Legacy as well. Also, reading Throne of Lies and Legacy of Lies as a duet will only heighten your enjoyment of the storyline. So, no, you don’t have to read them both. But I guarantee you are going to want to because these books are going to sink their hooks into you and it wouldn’t surprise me if you also were compelled to read them both start to finish! If you’re new to Tara Leigh, I highly, HIGHLY, recommend you not miss out on Throne of Lies and Legacy of Lies. It’s simply amazing and I cannot recommend the books enough.

Tripp is a fine young man buried under the destruction his father created. And the destruction of his heart over Jolie.

Jolie, on the other hand, gets a text from Tripp that sends her off the deep end, and shuts down her soul.

I love this sweet young love, and hate that it is destroyed by the schemes of Tripp's father. I don't honestly believe that Julie's father was in it; locked out of the other partner's business floor...

I better get some answers in the next book...

Ah the life of the elite, beauty - wealth - just about everything you could ask for, it's something most wish they had but after reading this book I am not sure everyone would still want it. The New York International Debutante Ball is about to begin so lets pull up a chair and see how things unfold.

Jolie is a beautiful seventeen year old who is about to make her debut, this sounds so old fashioned it's hard to believe this tradition is still carried on but it is, and Tripp is to be her escort, he was chosen because their fathers are business partners and the Debutantes are not supposed to be dating their escorts, little did their dads know that the chemistry between the two of them would be so strong they couldn't help themselves.

This novella was a quick and steamy read but I really appreciated the way Jolie and Tripp became friends, not just lovers, there was definitely an innocence to their being together because of her virginity but also because of Tripp's tenderness towards her, wanting to protect her from anything that may hurt her.

There is a definite HOLY COW moment towards the end of this book that will leave you stunned so please be warned you will want to have book two handy in order to jump right in to see what happens next. Happy Reading!!!

"She was a goddess spread before me, and I was about to make her mine."

Throne Of Lies is a nice prequel that gives you the basic knowledge you need to have to understand the main characters better in Legacy Of Lies. It basically shows the beginning and the end of Tripp and Jolie. You get a first impression what the emotions will be like in the main story and what caused the rift.

However I was a little disappointed in this novella. I felt distant to the characters, like I was only the observer to the things that happened. I didn't feel the chemistry nor the attraction. Knowing what Tara is usually capable to create, I expected a flash of sparks, blinding me.

"She was sunshine and sin all wrapped up in one perfect package."

And I question a little the whole time-framing. I think it's not really believable to fall in that kind of love that binds Tripp and Jolie within two to three months while being a teen. And I missed a lot more of their interaction: like what made them really fall for each other except the "love at first sight" thing.

Maybe it's just me. Just because I didn't feel it, it doesn't mean you won't. So if you'd like to read Legacy Of Lies, I highly recommend starting with this prequel, as it gives you a great insight of what happened to Tripp and Jolie 10 years before.

It’s debutante season for the crème de la crème of New York society.

Welcome to the Upper East Side where appearances are everything, but you never really know what lies beneath the shiny facade.

With their fathers being business partners, it was inevitable that Remington Owen Montgomery III, Tripp to his friends, and Jolie Chapman would be thrown together for the season - regardless of their feelings on the matter.

The Heir Apparent and The Park Avenue Princess are not titles they aspire to. Despite what people may think, the money and status have not yet corrupted these young minds. It surprised me just how down to earth they both were, but their inherent goodness shines through.

As the two young lovers get swept away in the bubble of first love, the world around them comes crashing down.

The devastation will be felt far and wide with Tripp and Jolie left floundering in the ruins.

The future no longer looks so rosy. Can they hold onto each other in the interim?

    *snorts*

    Yeah, what do you think?

    No need to shout, peeps!

    An Intriguing & Clever 3.5 Star Read!🌟
    (Read using Kindle Unlimited)

Jolie Chapman has been invited to attend the International Debutante Ball.. She's told, to her dismay, that her Father's business Partners son will be her Escort!!😱 Remington 'Tripp' Montgomery(iii) & Jolie barely know each other. He's a couple of years older than her & they never attended the same School's so rarely crossed path's plus both of their Fathers are workaholics 😕

Once they meet again and start talking, it becomes quite clear that neither is who they had assumed & anticipated them to be!! They get on really well, are wildly attracted to each other but more than that - they understand each other on a level that others probably never could!🙏 The pressure their names put them under, the risk of being used to get to their Fathers or Internships etc They continue to build on their connection & friendship over the month leading up to the Ball 💙💖

This novella sets up Tripp & Jolie's initial love story beautifully, for what I'm sure will be heartache & recriminations, in the main story of 'Legacy Of Lies'!!😳 I'm moving on to that next & I'll admit to feeling some trepidation 🙈 Lol
