Editorial Reviews

Gwen Stefani has sold close to 30 million records as the front woman for the band No Doubt and as a multi-platinum solo artist. Her new album This Is What The Truth Looks Like, is her most personal work to date. With intimate songs such as "Misery" & "Used To Love You" combined with the stellar productions from producers Mattman & Robin, Greg Kurstin, JR Rotem and Stargate, there is an emotional through line to the album that highlights Gwen's songwriting and impassioned themes of love and loss.

This music collection of This Is What The Truth Feels Like by Gwen Stefani blends dance, pop, and electro melodies in a seamless and synchronized manner. I admit that my current favorites of this collection are You’re My Favorite, Asking For It (feat. Fetty Wap), Send Me A Picture, Where Would I Be, and Rare. However, I plan to also keep an open mind to listen and/or watch any other music videos/songs that are listed on This Is What The Truth Feels Like collection because each song is musically distinctive in its own way. This collection is also great if you like the music catchiness of Make Me Like You and/or Misery (because of the carefree and amusing vibe of these songs). As mentioned in a previous review, despite the mainstream media coverage/writing material being spun out of the love lives of Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, and Gavin Rossdale I continue to avoid taking sides because I’m guessing that each of them are trying to heal in their own way despite the frequent media scrutiny into how each of them are coping.

If you love the three singles from this album (Used to Love You, Make me Like You, and Misery), then you will love this compilation as much as I do. I have loved Gwen's music, style, and makeup since her evolution from the No Doubt days, and enjoy watching her transform and evolve. If you are a fan that prefers her older, more funky and unique sound, you may not prefer the pop style that is prevalent on throughout this song set.

Honestly, this is exactly what I was expecting and my only complaint is that the Target version is the only one with the bonus tracks. I really do enjoy her music, even if it is more mainstream, and her voice is powerful and beautiful. This album has a sound that will appeal to the masses and surely allow her to build a new fan base with a younger population. It was worth the $10, and I am sure I will listen to it again and again.

Can. NOT. Get. Enough. Just love her story, her journey, her survival, her spirit and I love that she shares it with us. The beats are catchy, the songwriting is creative, personal and resonates with me. Each song is specially crafted with such genuine soul and no two song similar. Gwen Stefani is a class act, a real talent and a gift to the world. I do love Fetty Wap beats, but I must say I wish he didn't slur so much. Even with his horribly annunciated feature on one of the songs, I still like the song. I've been listening to this & Blake Shelton's CD since I got it and still not ready to switch to new CD's. If you're riding in my car, please don't talk over the music!

Love Gwen so much. Prettiest face in the world!!
Love the CD...but, aside from her beautiful hit on this CD they all seem stuck in the 80's!! (Now that I've listened to this CD I take back the 80's mention-love this!)
    Kind of the same beat...
Never the less-she's worth the listening!!!
    Love Gwen's insert also...

I have never bought an album from Ms Stefani nor her previous band No Doubt. In watching her on the show the Voice I was introduced to her as a musician and heard her songs from the show and then from Amazon. I liked the songs I heard so I purchased the CD. I am old school classic rock but found this CD to be a wonderful surprise. She wrote the songs on this album from an obvious place of pain and then starting to heal. I enjoyed every song on the CD which I was not expecting. They are all different and keep you interested in the song from beginning to end. I liked this CD enough that I am going to purchase some No Doubt and look into finding other solo projects by Ms. Stefani.

It's been about 10 years since Gwen has released a solo album, and my god, has she done it again! Gwen knows pop music. Most of the album is lovey-dovey and makes you want to listen on repeat for hours. There are a few songs that I don't love ("Send Me a Picture," "Red Flag," and the Fetty Wap song), however, it is easy to just skip over what you don't like. This album is truthful and raw. It is obvious that Gwen is going through an emotional time in her personal life, however, she has really channeled that energy into a piece of art. It is difficult to imagine that some of these tracks are about him because she's so edgy and he is not, but that's the spice of life! Thank you Gwen!

I love, love, love Gwen's newest album. "This is What the Truth Feels Like" is some of her very best work. She gives so much of herself to her music that it gives her audience a look into her soul. I have been a fan of hers since the "The Tragic Kingdom" album she did with "No Doubt". I am so happy for the success with this new album that I had to purchase it. She is one of the most talented artists of her generation. I am one of her biggest fans. Rock on Gwen Stefani.....and thank you for " This Is What the Truth Feels Like". You are a musical genius.
