I Married A Naga (Prime Mating Agency) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 5,352 ratings

She got more than she bargained for.

When Serena comes to Trangor to participate in the First Hunt, the last thing she expects is to find herself forced to marry an Ordosian… or be executed. She knows nothing of his people, nothing of him, except that he’s got fangs, scales, and a crazy long tail. Serena only has to play the part of being a wife for six months, and then she’ll be free to leave. But Szaro seems to have other plans. He’s big, intimidating, and definitely not human. Yet, how can she remain indifferent when he does everything to please her?

From the moment he lays eyes on Serena, Szaro is fascinated by the delicate human female. Deceptively fragile in appearance, she’s a fearless and skilled hunter. The lingering taste of her scent on his tongue is intoxicating. Claiming her to save her life is no hardship for him. Overcoming their differences and convincing her to stay willingly is a challenge he relishes. But will that prove more than either of them can handle?

Wow I cannot express how much I enjoyed this book, it is leaps and bounds ahead of what I was expecting. I won't lie, the cover had me both curious and a little apprehensive, it was a toss-up whether I'd find it refreshingly original or horrifying lol. The blurb totally suckered me into finding out. I'm so glad I gave it a chance. I'm super picky on my romance novels because I've paid to read some real dirt along the way- you know the kind I mean- raunchy stuff with no other purpose or actual story written like a second grader typed it lol. This was not that! I honestly loved every single thing about this book and I bought the others in the series. Also something that I thought was super cool, it has sketches at the end of the book and in the x-ray feature so you can see how the author envisioned the couple and a few different species from the book. The authors superb writing stayed true to the snake features, didn't revolt me at any point, and was spicy good fun with epic storytelling. It was an amazing journey through a fleshed out exotic world on an untouched planet-(think of Avatar with a Hunger Games competition). You get an up close view of it all. Both MCs were absolutely incredible along with the supporting cast, again fleshed out and unique to each one. The snake-like people are called Ordosians. I love how fiercely protective the Ordosians are as guardians of their planet Trangor and all that inhabit it. Their planet has always been closed off and only recently started a relationship with outsiders on a trial basis. The Ordosians don't need anything from outsiders, it's only their goodwill that causes them to interact with others. The female lead, Serena, is a former gymnast turned conservationist. She fell in love with conservation while working at a park and learned to hunt when she couldn't save an endangered species from a predator species. She came to Trangor to participate in the first hunt of Trangor along with many other selected hunters. An invitation only event by the Galactic Hunters Federation in joint with the UPO and ofcourse the Ordosians whose planet it's being hosted on. For the Ordosians it's about a faster population control of the invasive flayer species on their planet. For the hunters it's about the credits for each kill. For the Federation and United Planets Organization(UPO) it's about keeping a good relationship with the Ordosians and getting rare natural resources they use for medical and pharmaceutical purposes for free. All of this depends on not pissing off the Ordosians. This hunt is the first time outsiders have been allowed to explore any of Trangor. The hunters have to follow very strict and specific rules set forth by the Ordosians in order to participate. They're only allowed in the authorized zones. They wear trackers to ensure it. Kill only the flayers without causing them unnecessary pain or hurting any other wildlife or plantlife. If they're caught breaking the rules they will face the Ordosians lethal punishment without help from their own people. We start out in Serena's pov and see things from her side until she meets Szaro, then there's dedicated chapters to each so we get both sides without confusion. Serena is a skilled hunter who hopes to build her nest egg of savings while getting to explore an amazing world. She has a huge sense of honor and morals, and follows the rules exactly. Until she sees some native Ordosian women and children being attacked by flayers in the restricted zone. She saves their lives but is still punished for breaking the rules. If they didn't punish her others would start breaking their rules too, which could be detrimental to the planet. The matchmaker agency, UPO, and the Ordosian elders came to an agreement- since only Ordosians were allowed in those areas, Serena had to become an Ordosian to escape execution, the only way for a human to do that was by marrying one. It didn't hurt that it was Szaro's idea. Per the agency's contract, there was a minimum 6 months before she could get out of the marriage. But to Szaro it was a real marriage, with his true mate, and he was going to make sure she didn't want to leave when the time was up. Szaro is the fierce great hunter of his clan, highly sought after, and passionate about conservation. He can be lethal when provoked but is usually very caring and funny. He first met Selena while observing the hunt. The second time was when she broke the rules by saving his brothers mate and child. Ordosian females aren't hunters nor do they leave their village. Making Selena an intriguing beauty he owed a life debt to. After their marriage ceremony we are taken on an adventure showcasing the Ordosian way of life, their world, a growing romance, friendships, villains, hilarious culture clashes and an amazing HEA. I wholeheartedly recommend this book and the series.

I read this book in preparation for I Married a Beast's release and I was not disappointed.

I've jumped around this series a bit, but I do suggest reading I Married a Naga before reading I Married a Beast. Honestly, I'd suggest just reading all the books in this series in order.

Abel's world-building really sucks you in. This is a low-angst, low-drama book. The author does a lovely job of introducing you to the different alien worlds you encounter in this series and this book is no different.

The FMC is strong, independent, and kind.

The MMC is strong, fair, and sweet.

Just a sweet, steamy story I definitely recommend you pick up if you're looking for a low angst human/monster tail (pun intended).

I didn't come her for the spice, as the first book was lacking but the storytelling from this author was still quite engaging, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much better the spice was in this book. I sometimes forget that first books can be the authors literal first book, but that's also why I try to at least read the second one before moving onto another author. The last book had me hooked with its emotions and realism, though the mild spice was attempting to deter me. This one, while the MML had a "special package," was still not as spicy as I would have liked, though much more enjoyable. If you, like me, were expecting any sort of DP or other kinkiness, just don't. I've learned that this author doesn't like those things, and while it is disappointing, I would never ask someone to create something they didn't themselves enjoy. I can only be thankful that at least that means there is no choking kink in this one, a kink that appears in, I swear, nearly 80% of all spicy reads. Still, the spice was enjoyable; the four play much longer and the scenes more descriptive than the first book. I, however, didn't much care for the FML. First off, I don't usually go for books with tall muscular women, as I like the characters to be relatable, but she didn't act like that at all. In the begining it seemed she had a problem with not letting people help her, as is the typical feminist stereotype, but I figured that was simply because she wasn't used to being in a team, which proved to be a pretty accurate assessment. My only irk with her, while she was described as pretty much a goddess at every turn and her love for animals and nature was wonderful, I hated that she had the typical "spirited away syndrome". What does that mean? Well, it means that, when a character is "spirited away" (not quite like the anime but... The concept is similar) into a fantasy world that is either exactly what the character has always wanted or a million times better, they always, ALWAYS want to go home, and usually back to their sad and miserable lives. This character was plopped onto her dream planet, given her dream job, with a male she was already attracted to, who was the sweetest most caring guy alive, with nothing to go back to accept her crappy parents on video calls and her job that was only about 10% as good as the job she inherited by being with her husband. It drove me nuts til the very end 🤦‍♀️ as all of these tropes with the "spirited away syndrome" typically do. That's the only part of the story that I found "unrealistic." I also dislike how all the author's characters so far, cannot birth hybrid babies. It just makes it feel like the female's contribution is obsolete, in my opinion, but there are several authors who write this, and so as long as the storytelling is good, I try not to let it bother me so much.

When I first saw this book I thought it was weird. It didn’t appeal to me. I thought, damn…a woman and a naga, that won’t work…Months later it appeared to me again, but with hundreds of 5 star ratings. Well, that got me curious. I don’t really have a reading fashion, alien, MM, RH, mafia, college, shifters, I like them all as long as the reading is good. I guess I had too see this one for myself. And I was beyond impressed. It is well written, light, funny, well paced, and a really tight storyline. The author did really convinced this matting was possible, in a sensible and loving way. Really well done.

It's refreshing to find a plot where the meaning of "alpha male" it's not the equivalent of overprotective master.
Also, females usually are projected as ignorant and weak, and so that "entitles" the males to order them around. I'm glad it's not the case in this book.

Serena is a professional hunter and takes part in a big hunt on Trandor. It is forbidden to trespass on the land of the native people, the Ordonians. When she rescues a female and a child, she is accused of trespassing and instead of being executed, she is allowed to marry the great hunter Szaro for at least six months .....
I enjoyed reading the book. Its storyline contains action, adventure, suspense and a sweet romantic relationship. The characters are resourceful and strong. I highly recommend this book and look forward to the next installment in this series.
