I LOVE YOU, RUMER AND TRIJNTJE OOSTERHUIS.
Those CDs with music of Bacharach/David are absolutely amazing! The SOUND, the VOICES and the ORCHESTRAS are wonderful. Best of the best!!!!! Try to get those titles, if you like those songs but tired of the conventional versions.

What can I say? Rumer was born to sing Bacharach & David! Her delivery is easy and effortless on these songs which she gives her unique treatment while still retaining the familiarity that timeless compositions should evoke. I discovered some B&D tunes in this group that were new to me, and they are equally as enjoyable. (I don’t hear songs like these being written today, and that’s unfortunate.) The production, arrangements, song selection and performances are first rate. I don’t purchase many albums, but those I do are typically played a few times, given a “That’s nice.” and put aside. Not this one—it’s pretty special. Rumer really inhabits these songs (recorded by a variety of artists over the years) and makes them her own, and that’s not an easy task to pull off with songs that have been around awhile. I love the haunting, melancholy treatment of Close to You. Other standouts: The Look of Love, Balance of Nature (lovely background harmony!), A House is Not a Home. This is her best yet—a wonderful, relaxing, gem of an album! There’s nothing I didn’t like...

Rumer keeps her streak alive of 5 star releases! This is some soothing ear candy for sure. When she covers Burt Bacharach and Hal David how could it not be great?

These songs have been covered by The Carpenters, Fifth Dimension, Dionne Warwick to name a few. The songs were all beautiful by the original artists, however Rumer makes them her own on this release. Her voice is just so warming and wonderful to listen to. If you enjoy the sounds of Rumer you will enjoy these classics. She gives each song her own signature style. We the listener are rewarded with yet another beautiful volume of great music!

Rumer is one of the great voices of our time. I like to call her "a song's best friend", because even though she has a beautifully flawless voice, she knows to step aside for a great song. Not many singers, not even many legends, could pull off an album of songs this well-known and beloved, but because she respects the songs, she does it beautifully. Get this album, pour a glass of wine, and be prepared to be caressed by the sounds of Rumer. Listening to her is like being wrapped in a warm blanket, and You'll be taken back to a more simple time, where great music was made.

Rumer does a nice job with this material! Well recorded and produced. She holds her own which isn't easy when the song in your head was sung by the likes of Dusty Springfield and Dionne Warwick. Worth the listen, you'll enjoy it!

Rumer has a lovely voice and it is perfectly suited to bring out the best
in the GREAT song writing team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David.

One would acquire a goodly sized music collection by focusing exclusively on albums paying tribute to the genius of Bacharach and David. I own several and am still amazed at the quantity of superlative songs written by this team during a two decade period. This cd is, in my opinion, one of the best. Beautiful voice and stylish arrangements with a touch of jazz on several songs. Well worth obtaining & it's an album so lovely that repeated listening is never boring.

Very disappointed with this album, it sounds the same from beginning to end, I will stick with the original versions by Dusty and Dionne.
