Editorial Reviews
Joan Osborne's Relish is grounded in blues, soul and gospel. Osborne's passion for life oozes from the grooves. There's an uplifting fervor to her material and delivery, as if every second, every note was being individually savored. Key track `One of Us' sets the album's optimistic tone. It's a simple, direct statement of faith, framed in a near-perfect chorus. This 20th Anniversary Edition includes 3 bonus tracks, one of which is previously unreleased.

- Reviewed in the United States on August 14, 2013If you like dark vocal bluesy rock, Relish is one of the great albums of all time, the apotheosis of Joan Osborne. The music is intense and engaging and Osborne's voice is amazing - rich, melodious, gritty, and powerful, a deeper pitched Janis Joplin without the screaming. This is one of those rare albums without a single weak song, with a mood that varies from track to track and keeps you engaged. Ironically the album is best known for "One of Us", which in my opinion is among the lesser tracks - more pop and obvious than several others, and even so it is a very fine song. My favorite is "Dracula Moon", an anti-drug song that draws you into the halucinatory world of a self-destructive heroin addict. There is the unique "Spider Web", Osborne's dream homage to Ray Charles; the over-the-top "Right Hand Man", capturing that juliett romeo foxtrot (just royally f'd) feeling that I hope we all have experienced; the conflicted and paranoid but devoted lover of "Ladder"; the dark street-addict prostitute evocation "St. Theresa"; the ambiguous "The Man in Long Black Coat" (savior or downfall?); the lamentation for a lover losing his mind "Crazy Baby" and the lamentation for a lost father "Pensacola"; and the soft dreamy last song "Lumina". There isn't a single weak track. The music is beautiful, the lyrics are deep and often ambiguous or strange, the voice is astounding.
Osborne has since hit these heights a few times in individual songs, but has never again come close to the full album perfection of Relish. Most of her more recent music lacks the dark quirky intensity and orginality that makes Relish stand out. I suspect that Relish is Osborne's angry young creative outburst and now that she is all grown up there will be no more.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 14, 2023I did not like that is was "open" and not sealed like new which makes me think it was "used" but fortunately
it is in great condition and it sounded great....Joan Osborne is one of my favorite artists.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2016I was only familiar with Joan's big hit "One of Us" and one other tune which I never learned the name of, and then David Dye played "Pensacola" on his radio show and I knew it was the long lost tune I was looking for. So I went online and was going to just purchase the song, but I thought I would give Joan a try and purchased the whole album "Relish". Who knew. I understand this is a "best of" compilation but every tune on this album grabs you by the temples and looks you right in the eye. This music is throwing dishes across the room. This music is weeping in your arms pleading with you to understand. I've had it on my car stereo for the morning and evening commute since I bought it a few weeks ago. Powerful Music.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2017Pity the religious, who unknowingly, bought this CD on the basis of that 'if god were one of us' MTV song. Most of the rest of the album is about Joan wanting sex, having sex, or walking home after sex. Also a great cut about Ray Charles being able to see.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 8, 2006For the last few years, i had heard St. Teresa a hundred times on WNKU local college radio station, and i Never could catch the name of the artist or song..Finally the other day, it came On, but this time by Ritchie Blackmore Knights. The DJ said it was a good remake of Joan Osborne's 95 hit. I never realized it took me 11 years to discover what A Great Singer and writer she was, and im sure Still Is...The Backup band very studio tight as well...One of the More pleasant surprises ive had in a Very Long time...Plus there are 2 cds on "Relish"...One studio, the other Live..She has One of those Voices that sounds like no one else. Not one bad tune on the entire cd.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 10, 2022Plays perfectly. Delivered on time. Very good condition.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 29, 2016Good bluesy album with some nice bonus songs and live versions. I love this album, but if you expect every song to be like the big hit song you might want to rethink this album. If though you have an open mind and enjoy a bit of raspy female honky blues I think you will really enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars CLASSIQUE DES ANNEES 90 ENFIN EN VINYLE !
"Relish" est le meilleur album de Joan Osborne grâce à son titre phare "One of us". Le reste de l'album est cependant très bon. C'est la première fois que cet album est éditée en vinyle Il s'agit d'une très belle édition avec deux LP de couleurs noires. Le pressing est d'une très grande qualité, entaché d'aucun pop ou clic. Vous pouvez foncer pour l'acheter !
