R.L. Kenderson is two best friends writing under one name.

Renae has always loved reading, and in third grade, she wrote her first poem where she learned she might have a knack for this writing thing. Lara remembers sneaking her grandmother’s Harlequin novels when she was probably too young to be reading them, and since then, she knew she wanted to write her own.

When they met in college, they bonded over their love of reading and the TV show Charmed. What really spiced up their friendship was when Lara introduced Renae to romance novels. When they discovered their first vampire romance, they knew there would always be a special place in their hearts for paranormal romance. After being unable to find certain storylines and characteristics they wanted to read about in the hundreds of books they consumed, they decided to write their own.

One lives in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and the other in the Kansas City area where they’re a sonographer/stay-at-home mom/wife and pharmacist/mother by day, and they’re a sexy author by night. They communicate through phone, email, and whole lot of messaging.

    J’ai hésité sur ma note car la romance a un côté un simple, mais j’ai trouvé que le conflit vécu par les deux personnages (racontée uniquement par Eden) est bien construit et bien narré. C’est une excellente romance, parfois très chaude, qui flirte avec un interdit lié au statut des personnages : une prof et un de ses étudiants au lycée, bien que la légalité ne soit pas le problème car tout deux sont majeurs. Le personnage d’Eden est touchant car c’est sa pensée que l’on suit et l’interprétation qu’elle a de la pensée de Mace. Ce choix dessert un peu le personnage de Mace au départ, avec des informations pas toujours bien traduites par Eden, mais cela relance aussi le récit régulièrement.

    Many times the taboo books that are out there it is always the girl who is younger. In this instance we get a reverse taboo fiction book about first year teacher Eden and HS football playing Senior Mace.
    Yes, this is wrong, but as stated in the book he was legal, it was consensual and he did the chasing in the book. The book was tastefully done, he was mature, taking AP classes, and knew what he wanted, he was going to take his academic scholarship to play football and wasn't planning to play football as a career. I did enjoy that aspect of the book as the usual stereotypes were not found here.
    While this is my first book by this author, I would like to read additional stories as I enjoyed this romance.

    Cute read. Characters were funny and believable. Kind of friends to lovers vibe, with just a little longing/pining that lasted for the first part of the book. Very easy to get through. Thanks

    I’m going to skip over the taboo element of Eden and Mace’s relationship, it’s not right for a teacher to have a sexual relationship with a student.

    But as romantic fiction ...this was a really good story. Eden is immediately attracted to Mace when she sees him on the sideline at the football game. She thinks he is an assistant coach, but when she learns differently the next week she is shocked and tries to resist Mace’s flirting.

    Once their secret relationship gets underway their emotional and physical connection is pretty intense. This was an enjoyable read.

    That wasn't a spoiler; I'm saying that R & L made a piping hot book out of a kind of taboo relationship. At first I was worried, borderline uncomfortable, and at times I had to put it down because the teacher/student aspect felt super naughty. BUT. The authors crafted this romance very carefully. It was naughty, but it was legal and consensual and a truly loving relationship. The teacher didn't take advantage of the student, and the student wasn't immature or merely infatuated with a super sexy teacher. Eden was modest, not leading him on, and she made sure he didn't sacrifice anything related to his senior year (dances, sports games, spring break, etc.). And while Mace is young, he's his own person. He is a dominant and independent adult who makes mature decisions. So their attraction, their love, their relationship... it's naughty, but a good naughty. Teasing and very suspenseful, yet satisfying and sweet.
    Hats off to Lara and Renae for another amazing book. I wouldn't be surprised if this was one of their hardest books, and I love them all the more for it.
