Editorial Reviews

Renowned philanthropist, Microsoft co-founder, and music veteran Paul Allen and his hard-working band the Underthinkers have completed their first album and major label debut, EVERYWHERE AT ONCE. The all-star, 13-song program of blues-based guitar rock nuggets, featuring contributions from guests Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, Chrissie Hynde, Joe Walsh, Derek Trucks, Doyle Bramhall, David Hidalgo of Los Lobos, Ivan Neville. The album also includes the song "Divine" which was in the movie, Magic Mike. Paul wrote or co-wrote every song on the album and also plays guitar on almost all the tracks. All of Paul's proceeds will be donated to the charitable organization the EMP Museum.

I just received my copy of the Album from Amazon this Monday.

First thing that immediately make impression is the high-quality.
Everything starting from the CD Box protective coating to the Booklet with Pictures and Texts of the songs is very well prepared with attention to the details.

Name of the album create an association with the latest Quantum computers/processors breakthrough. "Everywhere At Once" is the essential principle of how quantum machines handle algorithms and one of the reasons why Scientists is so fascinated from this new technology.

Paul Allen created an fantastic thirteen compositions - very well balanced and with very good taste of all components.

Order by which songs follow one after another is genius - making listener feel comfortable from the first to the last minute.

There is no doubts that the best track is "Picture of a Dream" where Paul Allen shows his incredible qualities and master control over his Guitar that I may compare only with music dynamic created once only by Jimi Hendrix.

It has some tones that will remind you of blues, jazz, rockabilly, and the glory days of rock in it's virginal blush of innocent fun, the longing for True Love, and the fulfillment to be had when Love finds a Way...and singing your way out of the blues, if it does not. I've played this fifteen times since I just received it a few days ago, and keep finding new aspects to enjoy. The superb musicianship and engineering quality makes a CD almost like the old days of LP's, while the poetic emotions expressed, gives a depth worth repeated listening. Hope to hear more from this group in the future!

I hope God shows me how to respond to people this wealthy. I want to do the right thing and hope I can change rich people's hardened hearts.

Paul Allen is (and will forever be) known as the co-founder of Microsoft and a generous philanthropist. But it's a fair bet that if he could trade in that notoriety (though perhaps not the riches) for fame as a guitarist, he'd have to think it over. Allen's been an ardent music fan and regular player since he was a teenager, and his philanthropy has included several music-related projects, including Seattle's EMP Museum. So though he's never made a career in music, his connections are deeper and more long-standing than that of a dilettante. Allen's connections have provided opportunities to play with many of his heroes and develop the relationships upon which this album of blues-, country-, soul- and funk-flavored rock was built. In addition to Allen's own guitar, he's joined by Los Lobos' David Hidalgo and Derek Trucks, and fronted by Ann Wilson, Ivan Neville, Chrissie Hynde, Joe Walsh and others. The songs are originals, written by Allen with a variety of partners, and though not blazing any new trails, they provide enough meat for his assembled friends to create something tuneful and heartfelt. This album is the product of a true music nerd - one who's listened intently, played on the sidelines for decades, and given the chance to lead the band, shows real talent for making music. 3-1/2 stars, if allowed fractional ratings. This is a good rock blues album with some special guests including Ann Wilson of Heart. Mr. Allen was a big supporter of music in Seattle and very good guitar player, but he made his name in the tech business.
