The brainchild of frontman Nathan Day, Darlia evoke memories of classic ‘90’s US grunge bands, but Day gives it an almighty injection of heady melody to bring that impactful sound right up to date. As both vocalist, performer, and lyricist, he is a frontman you daren’t keep your eyes off, and there are few frontmen out there today with the impact that this young Northern artist is capable of.

Petals brings together Darlia’s singles to date, including a new recording of debut track ‘Queen of Hearts’, and also features ‘Candyman’, ‘Dear Diary’, and ‘Stars Are Aligned’. The band deals in head-spinning indie rock, wrapping their songs in fizzing hooks and melodies. ‘I’ve Never Been To Ohio’ remains close to that tested formula, but it’s the other new song ‘Say Your Prayers’ that expands Day’s songwriting house - an electrified slower-paced track that veers close to ballad territory, albeit injected with Day’s distinctive snarl.

Produced by Rich Turvey in Liverpool (except ‘Candyman’ by Cam Blackwood), ‘Petals’ is a timely example of where Darlia are, and an exciting taster of what to expect from their full length debut later in 2015.

Nathan Day: "In terms of writing songs I’m like a broken printer shooting them from everywhere; the vibe I had planned for our debut full length album grew and grew to the point where it became it’s own entity full of unreleased and unheard songs. We wanted to mark the current era of Darlia with a mini album so that the songs that define the introduction to the band had a definite release date, allowing us not to have to compromise with them. Therefore we are pleased to present P E T A L S, our mini album, out on 23rd February. There are some songs you will know and some you won’t. It’s all part of the master plan boyz and galz."

    某ロキノンでグランジmeetsオアシス的なニュアンスで取り上げられていますが、UKロック色が強くアメリカングランジはほんのスパイスのみ。
    グランジ再来と比喩するのは可哀想。
    それさ当たり前。
    だってグランジが死んだ世代の子達だもの。
    グランジなんて受け継がなくていい。
    自分達の思うがままに音楽をかき鳴らして頂きたい。
    70sパンクだって90sグランジだって、時代背景があって成立するんだから。
    だからこの若いバンドには、新たな時代を作って頂きたい。
    変化が乏しい時代に生まれたのは不運だけど、このバンドには頑張っていただきたい。
    青臭い衝動と音を期待。
