Game On is the second in the Ozzie Novak Series and the seventeenth in the overall Redemption Series, all by John Mefford. I keep saying the last book was the best in the series. And so it is with Game On. How John can keep all this straight in his mind is beyond me but he does a remarkable job of creating a better book with each one in the series. Game On is no exception. It will keep your heart pounding and have you on the edge of your seat more than once. Ozzie gets in more life and death situations that you haven’t a clue are going to happen. Nor can you figure out how he will get out of them. Somehow John does a masterful job of making it all happen. He continues to impress me with this large series. You need to start reading this exciting series now. Lee Childs and Jeffery Deaver had better look over their shoulders cause there is a new guy in town and he is coming up fast!

Alex meet Ozzie. I have read book seven of the Alex Trout series and it has Ozzie in it. I remember wondering how they became friends and the story that alluded to in that book, well now I know! Ozzie hasn’t met his daughter yet, but he does not hold back finding her. The tie back to camp is real and a former Alex story was fantastic as it had suspense, intrigue, crime, relationship matter and started connecting all the main characters.

I love that Ozzie is not a super hero, but is so determined to do his best. The emotions and vivid character development have me rooting for him and his series. Can’t wait to see how his P.I. works out and how his relationships progress.

Game ON takes up within hours of when ON Edge ends. A distraught Ozzie Novak finds himself jetting from Austin to Hawaii, back to the west coast and then on eastward in a race against time to find his kidnapped daughter whose existence he only learned about at the end of the previous book. The book is fast-paced and gripping; it was hard to put down. Readers have been told that Mr. Mefford would tie the characters of his three series together, and this begins to develop at this point. Surprises certainly exist, but this book does not leave the reader as "up in the air" as the previous one. This can be read as a stand alone novel, but to fully appreciate it, do yourself a favor and start at the beginning of the series. It is very worth it.

This thriller/mystery was a real page turner, with all the unexpected twists and turns. A lawyer gets a desperate call from his former HS girlfriend saying her daughter has been kidnapped. And the his former girlfriend tells him he must help her found the kidnapped child, since unknown to him till then, the kidnapped girl is also his daughter. Will he and his former girlfriend get back their daughter, who as the turning pages of the story reveal was taken by a fanatical cult? Read the book to find out.

Once again John Mefford has outdone himself to remain among my 4 favorite authors. I am an advance reader and I do receive advance copies of his books for free, however I also always buy each one as it is released. That is how much I think of John Mefford! Game On is full of intense action, suspense, and adventure. In Game On we get to revisit our old friends and meet some new ones. The cast of characters is so well developed that they feel real. Between the characters, the excellent plot, the suspense and twists and turns that are so well written, John's writing style draws me in and I become deeply immersed in the story, as if I am really there participating in the adventure. It takes a very rare and special talent to pull that off.
Thank you for more hours of entertainment. I can't wait until the next book is released!!

I choose to rate it with 4 stars as the book was and entertaining twist of emotion and intrigue, but it didn't flesh out the characters as much as I would have liked, in order to truly see what made them tick. Yes, I would and will invite others to read.

The puzzle pieces are coming together in the Redemption Thriller Series. This talented author managers to take many different parts; in this case, three totally different series, featuring three totally different characters - a copy a lawyer, and an investigative journalist -and slowing, gradually, merging them into what I believe, is going to be quite a surprise at the end. Just as in the last story in this series, our hero, Ozzie, is just very likeable, but a complete mess. This is what is so enjoyable in this third series. Once you pick it up you are totally captivated and have to see where it goes next. I loved this story and can’t wait until the next. These are like episodes in a TV series, just longer and much, much better.

Following on from the life changing events in ON Edge, Ozzie is heading to Hawaii on the back of a letter sent to him by his prom date from 10 years prior, stating that his daughter is missing! Yeah if Ozzie's life couldn’t get any more messed up! Denise is someone he hasn’t seen since prom and had no idea that their one night together had resulted in him being a dad, as Denise had moved to Hawaii after graduating and didn’t want to bother Oz with a child.

When he gets to Hawaii not only does he find out that Denise hasn’t had the best of life, taking to drugs and prostitution to get by, but also that she suspects the Japanese mob of taking their daughter Mackenzie. What happens from here on sees Ozzie fight to find his daughter following a riddle that has them head to West Virginia.

The dots slowly start to connect and we are met with Ozzie heading to a place called Camp Israel - my brain was going crazy connecting everything together, and the adrenaline rush along side Ozzie as he kept getting closer to finding his daughter. The Game is well and truly ON and this is really an emotional ride for him to get to his daughter alivebut with a whole host of characters old an new come together to help him, you know everything will work out right? Well you will just have to read it to find that out.

I loved Alex & Ivy but boy does Ozzie go through some serious crap to get on par with them! And I can't wait to see what Mefford has in store for Ozzie, this one has plenty of action, suspense and emotions that you will not want to stop reading.

I have to confess: I am a long time fan of Mr.Mefford's work and have followed his Redemption series since the beginning (this is book 14, but each one can be read entirely as a stand alone). The first twelve stories focused on two very different women as main protagonistts, firstly the feisty FBI agent, Alex Troutt, then the children's champion Ivy Nash, but this new leading man Ozzie Novak , On Edge, promises to be the most appealing of them all, so far.

Continuing on immediately from his introductory novel, On Edge, Ozzie travels to Hawaii to learn the truth about an unknown daughter which a long ago girlfriend says is his. A daughter who would mean he is not alone, after all. A daughter who was in danger. And, though he doesn't know it when he meets up with the mother again for the first time in several years, by going to Hawaii he is flying into danger.

John Mefford's books are well written and easy to read with good characterisations of personalities which, like real life people, grow and alter as they encounter life. Sometimes humerous in part, always visually alive, the thriller stories are also intriguing and exciting. An overall excellent series and Ozzie Novak is definitely a winner

5.0 out of 5 stars another great page turner from John Mefford
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 12, 2017
Really enjoyed this book - the second installment in the Ozzie Novak series. Ozzie's life was turned upside down in the first book and the final part of this was a letter saying he had a daughter he knew nothing about who had been kidnapped. Ozzie drops everything and goes to Hawaii to try and find/free her.

Ozzie arrives to be told that the Yakuza have kidnapped his daughter and they cant go to the authorities. Denise, his prom date 10 years prior and mother of his child has had a hard life but has done her best to look after her daughter. Finally putting herself through college and getting a decent job when she discovers accounting irregularities which she reports but this leads to the threat to their safety.

Could it get much worse than this - of course it can. Ozzie and Denise start following a trail of cryptic clues that leads them on a path that endangers them all. Can they figure it out in time to save their daughter and will they live to tell the tale.......???

Another great read from John - and they are coming thick and fast at the moment. I got an advance copy for a honest review but I also purchase the books as I enjoy them that much and feel its only fair to the author.
