I Married A Lizardman (Prime Mating Agency) Kindle Edition
Scaly, grumpy, but oh so cuddly...
As a third daughter on the farming colony of Meterion, Susan’s future prospects aren’t too promising. A pretty face, top-notch skills, and hard work mean nothing if your dowry doesn’t include fertile lands. With her twenty-fifth birthday approaching, and no suitors even remotely sniffing in her general direction, Susan will be forced to leave the family lands to work as an indentured servant in the capital city. Her only way out is to settle for an arranged marriage through the PMA – the Prime Mating Agency. She just never expected to be paired to a grumpy, massive lizardman, and above all not to grow so fond of his scales and quirky ways.
With everything going on, the last thing Olix needs is a mate, especially a squishy, scaleless, off-worlder with strange ways, and an obsession with farming. He is a Hunter, not a dirt digger. The Seer must have been mistaken when she insisted that, for the sake of the people, he take a mate from the stars. How can such a tiny thing be their salvation? And yet, his Susan’s softness is disturbingly addictive while hiding a surprising resilience.
With his ancestral lands on the line and the future of the clans threatened, could this wisp of a woman turn their fate around?

- Reviewed in the United States on January 14, 2022Series Set-up: (Prime Mating Agency series) The United Planets Organization, or UPO for short, is pretty much a governing body for the wellbeing of all planets. Their main directive is to leave primitive planets and their sentient species alone to develop on their own. But sometimes it happens anyways, and they have interactions with advanced species or their technology. Though the UPO cannot directly assist them, their Prime Mating Agency can find them a mate who can. Since a mate is automatically considered a legal citizen of the primitive planet and can use anything their own species has already discovered.
This book: The first book in the series, and is standalone. The human Susan is a 3rd daughter of the farming colony Meterion. Only a 1st or 2nd daughter can own land, she's just another mouth to feed. It's not fair considering she's the only sister who's passionate about farming and simply lost out on the genetic lottery. Her 25th birthday is less than a month away, which means she'll have nowhere to call home, 3rd daughter's must leave by age 25. Her only option left is to try the Prime Mating Agency. The other mating agencies have already turned her down. No matter who they pick for her, if she gets a match, she has to take it. Olix, who's species looks like a lizard, is pretty much in the same boat. He's the clan leader of one of the most fertile lands in the galaxy. But his people are hunters, never again will they be the dirt diggers they were forced to be in slavery to offworlders. Yet Olix's seer told him that his mate from the stars would be their people's salvation. His people have been struggling to survive and keep their land. The herds have disappeared along with any native plants they used to gather and they can't figure out why. On top of that, a big corporation is trying to force them off their lands. With things steadily getting worse, his only choice is to seek a mate from the stars. Olix isn't too happy finding out his future mate is an offworld dirt digger and Susan isn't too keen on marrying a primitive Lizardman. Can they make it work or will this be a short-lived marriage that ruins them all?
Opinion: This book is an all time favorite! The worldbuilding is phenomenal, along with epic adventures, likable characters and a love story for the record books. Stays true to the lizard features, did not gross me out at any point, and actually had spicy fun scenes. The characters were unique and totally fleshed out. Even better, the species as a whole was lovable and fiercely protective of their loved ones. I felt like I was watching a movie, it was so easy to picture and stay entertained the whole way. From the hilarious culture clashes to the intricate craft making and cuisine, I feel like I understand this culture better than my own and enjoyed it a lot more too. Literally everything you can ask for in a sci-fi romance. No insta-love here, they fight for each other, becoming partners and bestfriends, it's a sigh worthy romance without being corny or unbelievable. The epilogue is amazing and extensive. Something else I think is pretty neat, in the x-ray feature & at the end of the book, there's drawings of some of the characters so you get to see how the author imagined them. No triggers that I remember, offpage they used to be slaves, but the mood is always uplifting and dsnt go to dark places. I bought this book and the others in the series for my keeper shelf so I can reread at my leisure. My personal series favorite, is the next book in the series called I Married A Naga, but I loved all of the series and recommend wholeheartedly, 5 stars easily. Happy Reading!
- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2023This was very sweet romance with fantastic world building- it was quite humorous. I say humorous - not “funny” per say. There were expositive paragraphs wherein everything felt so clinical that the laugh out loud quality of a scene was almost robbed away.
A third daughter with a passion for growing food gets an arranged marriage to an alien clan leader. They communicate clearly right from the beginning, have a few bumpy hitches, but always respect one another, and grow to love their spouse as their differences complete and compliment each other. Quite fluffy, all things considered.
What I mean is… this is a perfect arranged marriage romance. Not much conflict, other than Big Bad Capitalism wrecking an unsettled planet. It’s nice to read a romance wherein they grow to love naturally because of a desire to be a good partner.
The spice was alright - not as alien-y as I’d perhaps have liked? There was only one scene wherein he really “lost control” and loved her like a apex Hunter lizard man. But, I’m not complaining… HOWEVER. Solely because of the absolutely absurd “hymen” barrier plot point, I took off a star. WTF? I had to physically stop myself from lodging my eyes in the back of my head, though it was a near miss because I was rolling them so hard. This isn’t the 18th century - female humans don’t have a virginity freshness seal. Anatomically speaking, a hymen is more like a narrow but open archway than a closed screen door. Sure, an eggplant can bust out the sides of the archway and cause bleeding - but it’s not a dang film. “2 centimetres in” - like what!?!
Honestly, I haven’t read something so absurd in a while - and this was a book about marrying a LIZARDMAN. For real, all authors who write romance featuring a female virgin really REALLY ought to have some basic knowledge of what that bloody means - and that it doesn’t have to be bloody at all, dangit.
3/5 spice
3/5 humour
4/5 romance
4/5 plot
All things considered, read it if you need a refresher from the tired scifi trope of human trafficking rings. This was fluffy and sweet. Maybe a little naive, but enjoyable nonetheless.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 19, 20254.5/5 stars!
I loved this book! I loved the world building, the plot, and how easy to read it was. The relationship building between Olix and Susan was so much fun to read.
Although this book is about a human marrying a lizardman, I was not grossed out once and I throughly enjoyed the character art at the end of the book. There were some sexy scenes in addition to an awesome sci-fi take on a new world.
I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series?

5.0 out of 5 stars Monster Romance Favorito!

Such a nice history with a HEA. I like how the interaction between the protagonists is so full of understanding and compromise. Equal partners in all senses. Highly recommended

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn’t put it down!
I read this in one night! The few lost hours of sleep was worth it.
The characters commitment to the relationship is solid before any hardships. Their learning of each other and the heroine’s gradual familiarity with a new culture on a strange planet is a pleasant process to read. This book was a refreshing change from the usual. There was no alpha postering, or tearful, dumb heroine acts. They were both reasonable, willing to compromise and equally uncertain. There was no insta-love or even insta-lust. Their first sexual encounter is written in a truthful, yet-still-hot and very believable way. It was a really enjoyable love story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Susan and Olix
Susan is the third daughter of a matriarchal farmers family on Meterion. Since she doesn't own land or have a dowry, she turns to the Prime Mating Agency for a mate. Olix is Clan Leader of the Andturian tribe, a hunting people with lizardlike appearance. The game is getting scarce and Susan could maybe help with her expertise in farming. When they get to know each other, there is a series of misunderstandings. But they both are determined to make their marriage work.
I enjoyed reading the book. It has a beautiful world building and the characters are determined and empathic and caring. The story is captivating and I also liked the drawings at the end of the book.
I highly recommend this book and look forward to the next installment in this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story- Don’t put off!
I’m not going to lie, this book has been popping up on my recommendations for a while but I was a little put off by the title and cover. Took the plunge and decided to read it and OH. MY. GOD. Am I kicking myself now for putting this off!!
Regine Abel is a fantastic writer and you find yourself getting swept up in the story and characters. She has the perfect balance of soul and spice and I literally devoured this book because I couldn’t get enough of it!
Would definitely recommend!!
